ee2b7db3f8 MDEV-4478: Implement GTID "strict mode"
When @@GLOBAL.gtid_strict_mode=1, then certain operations result
in error that would otherwise result in out-of-order binlog files
between servers.

GTID sequence numbers are now allocated independently per domain;
this results in less/no holes in GTID sequences, increasing the
likelyhood that diverging binlogs will be caught by the slave when
GTID strict mode is enabled.

1cd6eb5f94 MDEV-26: Global transaction ID.
Change of user interface to be more logical and more in line with expectations
to work similar to old-style replication.

User can now explicitly choose in CHANGE MASTER whether binlog position is
taken into account (master_gtid_pos=current_pos) or not (master_gtid_pos=
slave_pos) when slave connects to master.

@@gtid_pos is replaced by three separate variables @@gtid_slave_pos (can
be set by user, replicated GTIDs only), @@gtid_binlog_pos (read only), and
@@gtid_current_pos (a combination of the two, most recent GTID within each
domain). mysql.rpl_slave_state is renamed to mysql.gtid_slave_pos to match.

This fixes MDEV-4474.

665a31af2b MDEV-26: Global transaction ID. First alpha release.
Merge of 10.0-mdev26 feature tree into 10.0-base.

Global transaction ID is prepended to each event group in the binlog.

Slave connect can request to start from GTID position instead of specifying
file name/offset of master binlog. This facilitates easy switch to a new
master.

Slave GTID state is stored in a table mysql.rpl_slave_state, which can be
InnoDB to get crash-safe slave state.

GTID includes a replication domain ID, allowing to keep track of distinct
positions for each of multiple masters.

0fdbdde474 MDEV-26: Global transaction ID.
Implement test case rpl_gtid_stop_start.test to test normal stop and restart
of master and slave mysqld servers.

Fix a couple bugs found with the test:

 - When InnoDB is disabled (no XA), the binlog state was not read when master
   mysqld starts.

 - Remove old code that puts a bogus D-S-0 into the initial binlog state, it
   is not correct in current design.

 - Fix memory leak in gtid_find_binlog_file().

22f91eddb1 MDEV-4322: Race in binlog checkpointing during server shutdown.
During server shutdown, we need to wait for binlog checkpointing to
finish in the binlog background thread before closing the binlog.

This was not done, so we could get assert and failure to finish the
final binlog checkpoint if shutdown happened in the middle.

9bb989a9d1 MDEV-26: Global transaction ID.
Fix MDEV-4275 - I/O thread restart duplicates events in the relay log.
The first time we connect to master after CHANGE MASTER or restart, we connect
from the GTID position. But then subsequent reconnects or IO thread restarts
reconnect with the old-style file/offset binlog pos from where it left off at
last disconnect. This is necessary to avoid duplicate events in the relay
logs, as there is nothing that synchronises the SQL thread update of GTID
state (multiple threads in case of multi-source) with IO thread reconnects.

Test cases.

Some small cleanups and fixes.

9d9ddad759 MDEV-26: Global transaction ID.
Fix things so that a master can switch with MASTER_GTID_POS=AUTO to a slave
that was previously running with log_slave_updates=0, by looking into the
slave replication state on the master when the slave requests something not
present in the binlog.

Be a bit more strict about what position the slave can ask for, to avoid some
easy-to-hit misconfiguration errors.

Start over with seq_no counter when RESET MASTER.

a260b15554 MDEV-4011 Added per thread memory counting and usage
Base code and idea from a patch from by plinux at Taobao.

The idea is that we mark all memory that are thread specific with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC.
Memory counting is done per thread in the my_malloc_size_cb_func callback function from my_malloc().
There are plenty of new asserts to ensure that for a debug server the counting is correct.

Information_schema.processlist gets two new columns: MEMORY_USED and EXAMINED_ROWS.
- The later is there mainly to show how query is progressing.

The following changes in interfaces was needed to get this to work:
- init_alloc_root() amd init_sql_alloc() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC
- One now have to use alloc_root_set_min_malloc() to set min memory to be allocated by alloc_root()
- my_init_dynamic_array() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC
- my_net_init() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC
- Added flag for hash_init() so that one can mark hash table to be thread specific.
- Added flags to init_tree() so that one can mark tree to be thread specific.
- Removed with_delete option to init_tree(). Now one should instead use MY_TREE_WITH_DELETE_FLAG.
- Added flag to Warning_info::Warning_info() if the structure should be fully initialized.
- String elements can now be marked as thread specific.
- Internal HEAP tables are now marking it's memory as MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC.
- Changed type of myf from int to ulong, as this is always a set of bit flags.

Other things:
- Removed calls to net_end() and thd->cleanup() as these are now done in ~THD()
- We now also show EXAMINED_ROWS in SHOW PROCESSLIST
- Added new variable 'memory_used'
- Fixed bug where kill_threads_for_user() was using the wrong mem_root to allocate memory.
- Removed calls to the obsoleted function init_dynamic_array()
- Use set_current_thd() instead of my_pthread_setspecific_ptr(THR_THD,...)

5cbdb90827 Bug#11750014:ASSERTION TRX_DATA->EMPTY() IN BINLOG_CLOSE_CONNECTION
Problem:
=======

trx_data->empty() assert happens at `binlog_close_connection'

Analysis:
========

trx_data->empty() function checks for no pending events
and the transaction cache to be empty.This function returns
"true" if no pending events are present and cache is empty.
Otherwise it returns false. `binlog_close_connection' call
expects the above function to return true. But if the
return value is false then assert is raised.

This bug was reproducible in a diskfull scenario. In this
disk full scenario try to do an insert operation so that
a new pending event is created and flushing this pending
event fails. Due to this failure the server goes down
and invokes `binlog_close_connection' for clean closure.
Since the pending event still remains the assert is caused.
This assert is caused only in non transactional databases.

Fix:
===

In a disk full scenario when the insertion fails the
transaction is rolled back and `binlog_end_trans`
is called to flush the pending events. But flush operation
fails as the disk is full and the function simply returns
`1' without taking any action to delete the pending event.

This leaves the event to remain till the closure of
connection. `delete pending' statement has been added to
do the required clean up action.

sql/log.cc:
  Added "delete pending" statement to clean pending event

288eeb3a31 MDEV-232: Remove one fsync() from commit phase.
Introduce a new storage engine API method commit_checkpoint_request().
This is used to replace the fsync() at the end of every storage engine
commit with a single fsync() when a binlog is rotated.

Binlog rotation is now done during group commit instead of being
delayed until unlog(), removing some server stall and avoiding an
expensive lock/unlock of LOCK_log inside unlog().

10802c4d90 MDEV-381: fdatasync() does not correctly flush growing binlog file.
When we append data to the binlog file, we use fdatasync() to ensure
the data gets to disk so that crash recovery can work.

Unfortunately there seems to be a bug in ext3/ext4 on linux, so that
fdatasync() does not correctly sync all data when the size of a file
is increased. This causes crash recovery to not work correctly (it
loses transactions from the binlog).

As a work-around, use fsync() for the binlog, not fdatasync(). Since
we are increasing the file size, (correct) fdatasync() will most
likely not be faster than fsync() on any file system, and fsync()
does work correctly on ext3/ext4. This avoids the need to try to
detect if we are running on buggy ext3/ext4.

03993d03a7 Bug#13961678:MULTI-STATEMENT TRANSACTION REQUIRED MORE THAN
'MAX_BINLOG_CACHE_SIZE' ERROR

Problem:
=======
MySQL returns following error in win64.
"ERROR 1197 (HY000): Multi-statement transaction required more than
'max_binlog_cache_size' bytes of storage; increase this mysqld variable
and try again" when user tries to load >4G file even if
max_binlog_cache_size set to maximum value. On Linux everything
works fine.

Analysis:
========
The `max_binlog_cache_size' variable is of type `ulonglong'. This
value is set to `ULONGLONG_MAX' at the time of server start up. The
above value is stored in an intermediate variable named
`saved_max_binlog_cache_size' which is of type `ulong'. In visual
c++ complier the `ulong' type is of 4bytes in size and hence the value
is getting truncated to '4GB' and the cache is not able to grow beyond
4GB size. The same limitation is observed with
"max_binlog_stmt_cache_size" as well. Similar fix has been applied.

Fix:

13f7f00288 BUG#11762670:MY_B_WRITE RETURN VALUE IGNORED
Problem:
=======
The return value from my_b_write is ignored by: `my_b_write_quoted',
`my_b_write_bit',`Query_log_event::print_query_header'

Most callers of `my_b_printf' ignore the return value. `log_event.cc'
has many calls to it.

Analysis:
========
`my_b_write' is used to write data into a file. If the write fails it
sets appropriate error number and error message through my_error()
function call and sets the IO_CACHE::error == -1.
`my_b_printf' function is also used to write data into a file, it
internally invokes my_b_write to do the write operation. Upon
success it returns number of characters written to file and on error
it returns -1 and sets the error through my_error() and also sets
IO_CACHE::error == -1. Most of the event specific print functions
for example `Create_file_log_event::print', `Execute_load_log_event::print'
etc are the ones which make several calls to the above two functions and
they do not check for the return value after the 'print' call. All the above
mentioned abuse cases deal with the client side.

Fix:
===
As part of bug fix a check for IO_CACHE::error == -1 has been added at
a very high level after the call to the 'print' function. There are
few more places where the return value of "my_b_write" is ignored
those are mentioned below.

0697ee265f MDEV-181: XID crash recovery across binlog boundaries
Keep track of how many pending XIDs (transactions that are prepared in
storage engine and written into binlog, but not yet durably committed
on disk in the engine) there are in each binlog.

When the count of one binlog drops to zero, write a new binlog checkpoint
event, telling which is the oldest binlog with pending XIDs.

When doing XA recovery after a crash, check the last binlog checkpoint
event, and scan all binlog files from that point onwards for XIDs that
must be committed if found in prepared state inside engine.

Remove the code in binlog rotation that waits for all prepared XIDs to
be committed before writing a new binlog file (this is no longer necessary
when recovery can scan multiple binlog files).

4a6c4d8603 BUG#12400313 RELAY_LOG_SPACE_LIMIT IS NOT WORKING IN MANY CASES
BUG#64503: mysql frequently ignores --relay-log-space-limit

When the SQL thread goes to sleep, waiting for more events, it sets
the flag ignore_log_space_limit to true. This gives the IO thread a
chance to queue some more events and ultimately the SQL thread will be
able to purge the log once it is rotated. By then the SQL thread
resets the ignore_log_space_limit to false. However, between the time
the SQL thread has set the ignore flag and the time it resets it, the
IO thread will be queuing events in the relay log, possibly going way
over the limit.

This patch makes the IO and SQL thread to synchronize when they reach
the space limit and only ask for one event at a time. Thus the SQL
thread sets ignore_log_space_limit flag and the IO thread resets it to
false everytime it processes one more event. In addition, everytime
the SQL thread processes the next event, and the limit has been
reached, it checks if the IO thread should rotate. If it should, it
instructs the IO thread to rotate, giving the SQL thread a chance to
purge the logs (freeing space). Finally, this patch removes the
resetting of the ignore_log_space_limit flag from purge_first_log,
because this is now reset by the IO thread every time it processes the
next event when the limit has been reached.

If the SQL thread is in a transaction, it cannot purge so, there is no
point in asking the IO thread to rotate. The only thing it can do is
to ask for more events until the transaction is over (then it can ask
the IO to rotate and purge the log right away). Otherwise, there would
be a deadlock (SQL would not be able to purge and IO thread would not
be able to queue events so that the SQL would finish the transaction).

eec4836a1b BUG#11745230: 12133: MASTER.INDEX FILE KEEPS MYSQLD FROM STARTING IF
BIN LOG HAS BEEN MOVED

When moving the binary/relay log files from one location to
another and restarting the server with a different log-bin or
relay-log paths, would cause the startup process to abort. The
root cause was that the server would not be able to find the log
files because it would consider old paths for entries in the
index file instead of the new location. What's even worse, the
relative paths would not be considered relative to the path
provided in log-bin and relay-log, but to mysql_data_dir.

We fix the cases where the server contains relative paths. When
the server is reading from the index file, it checks whether the
entry contains relative paths. If it does, we replace it with the
absolute path set in log-bin/relay-log option. Absolute paths
remain unchanged and the index must be manually edited to
consider the new log-bin and/or relay-log path (this should be
documented). This is a fix for a GA version, that does not break
behavior (that much).

For development versions, we should go with Zhenxing's approach
that removes paths altogether from index files.

mysql-test/include/begin_include_file.inc:
  Added parameter to keep the begin_include_file.inc silent. Useful when
  including scripts that contain platform dependent parameters, for example:

  --let $rpl_server_parameters=--log-bin=$tmpdir/slave-bin --relay-log=$tmpdir/slave-relay-bin
  --let $keep_include_silent=1
  source include/rpl_start_server.inc;
  --let $keep_include_silent=0

  We want the paths ($tmpdir/slave-bin and $tmpdir/slave-relay-bin) not to be in the
  result file.
mysql-test/suite/rpl/t/rpl_binlog_index.test:
  Test case.
sql/log.cc:
  When finding the corresponding log entry in the index file, we first

  paths to be turned into absolute paths (based on the opt_bin_logname or
  opt_relay_logname) and then compared against also, expanded paths entered,
  through CHANGE MASTER for instance.
sql/log.h:
  Added normalize_binlog_name, which turns relative paths, into absolute paths
  given the parameter: is_relay_log ? opt_relay_logname : opt_bin_logname .

95fdeb89c2 Bug#11763573 - 56299: MUTEX DEADLOCK WITH COM_BINLOG_DUMP, BINLOG PURGE, AND PROCESSLIST/KILL
The bug case is similar to one fixed earlier bug_49536.
Deadlock involving LOCK_log appears to be possible because the purge running thread
is holding LOCK_log whereas there is no sense of doing that and which fact was
exploited by the earlier bug fixes.

Fixed with small reengineering of rotate_and_purge(), adding two new methods and
setting up a policy to execute those instead of the former
rotate_and_purge(RP_LOCK_LOG_IS_ALREADY_LOCKED).
The policy for using rotate(), purge() is that if the caller acquires LOCK_log itself,
it should call rotate(), release the mutex and run purge().

Side effect of this patch is refining error message of bug@11747416 to print
the whole path.

7800d93bc3 Allow one to block an account by using GRANT max_user_connections = -1
One can set @@global.max_user_connections to -1 to block anyone, except SUPER user, to login.
If max_user_connection is 0, one can't change it without a restart (needed to get user connections counting to work correctly)

mysql-test/r/system_mysql_db.result:
  Changed max_user_connections to handle negative numbers.
mysql-test/r/user_limits-2.result:
  New test case that one can't change max_user_connection if it was 0
mysql-test/r/user_limits.result:
  Fixed wrong error messages.
mysql-test/r/variables.result:
  Store / restore max_user_connections (needed as there is now a --master.opt file that changes it)
mysql-test/t/subselect_mat_cost-master.opt:
  Enable slow query log (as this test found some errors in slow query logging)
mysql-test/t/user_limits-2.test:

sql/item_func.cc:
  Change SHOW_INT to be signed.
  (Needed for max_user_connections and it's probably a bug that it was not originally signed)
sql/log.cc:
  Remove some code that was not needed (All these variables are reset at start of query)
sql/mysql_priv.h:
  Made max_user_connections signed.
  Added max_user_connections_checking
sql/mysqld.cc:
  Added max_user_connections_checking so that we know if max_user_connections was 0 at startup
  (Which means that we will not do connection counting for accounts that don't have user resource limits)
  Set thd->start_utime at same time as thr_create_utime. (Before start_utime could be < thr_create_utime which lead to wrong query counting)
sql/set_var.cc:
  Don't allow one to change 'max_user_connections' if it was 0 at startup.
sql/sql_acl.cc:
  Change user_connection counting to be negative.
sql/sql_connect.cc:
  If max_user_connections is < 0 then only SUPER user can login.
  Fixed wrong variable names for error messages.
  Fixed wrong initial value for questions.
  Set thd->start_utime and thd->thr_create_utime at startup. Needed to get time_out_user_resource_limits() to work.
sql/sql_show.cc:
  SHOW_INT is now negative
sql/sql_yacc.yy:

22e793639a Added new options to KILL. New syntax is KILL [HARD|SOFT] [CONNECTION|QUERY] [ID | USER user_name]
- If USER is given, all threads for that user is signaled
- If SOFT is used then the KILL will not be sent to the handler. This can be used to not interrupt critical things in the handler like 'REPAIR'.

Internally added more kill signals. This gives us more information of why a query/connection was killed.
- KILL_SERVER is used when server is going down. In this case the users gets ER_SHUTDOWN as the reason connection was killed.
- Changed signals to number in correct order, which makes it easier to test how the signal should affect the code.
- New error message ER_CONNECTION_KILLED if connection was killed by 'KILL CONNECTION'. Before we got error ER_SHUTDOWN.

Changed names of not used parameters KILL_QUERY & KILL_CONNCTION to mysql_kill() to not conflict with defines in the server

de3776819c BUG#12574820: binlog.binlog_tmp_table timing out in daily and weekly trunk run
Problem: MYSQL_BIN_LOG::reset_logs acquires mutexes in wrong order.
The correct order is first LOCK_thread_count and then LOCK_log. This function
does it the other way around. This leads to deadlock when run in parallel
with a thread that takes the two locks in correct order. For example, a thread
that disconnects will take the locks in the correct order.
Fix: change order of the locks in MYSQL_BIN_LOG::reset_logs:
first LOCK_thread_count and then LOCK_log.

mysql-test/suite/binlog/r/binlog_reset_master.result:
  added result file
mysql-test/suite/binlog/t/binlog_reset_master.test:
  Added test case that demonstrates deadlock because of wrong mutex order.
  The deadlock is between two threads:
   - RESET MASTER acquires mutexes in wrong order.
   - client thread shutdown code acquires mutexes in right order.
  Actually, this test case does not produce deadlock in 5.1, probably
  the client thread shutdown code does not hold both mutexes at the same
  time. However, the bug existed in 5.1 (mutexes are taken in the wrong
  order) so we push the test case to 5.1 too, to prevent future
  regressions.
sql/log.cc:
  Change mutex acquisition to the correct order:
  first LOCK_thread_count, then LOCK_log.
sql/mysqld.cc:
  Add debug code to synchronize test case.

e9b8feef32 Bug#12346411 SQL/LOG.CC:6509: ASSERTION `PREPARED_XIDS > 0' FAILED
This assert could be triggered during two phase commit if binary
log was used as transaction coordinator log. The triggered assert
checks that the same number of transaction IDs are processed in
the prepare and commit phases.

The reason it was triggered, was that the transaction consisted
of an INSERT/UPDATE IGNORE that had an ignorable error. Since it
had an error, no row log events were made and therefore
prepared_xids was 0. However, since it was an IGNORE statement,
the statement started a read/write statement transaction, committed
it and completed successfully.

This patch fixes the problem by adjusting the assert to take
this possibility into account.

Test case added to binlog.binlog_innodb_row.test.

5ee9001844 Bug#11766528 PERFORMANCE_SCHEMA TRACKS BOTH BINARY AND RELAY LOGS IN THE SAME EVENTS
Before this fix, all the performance schema instrumentation for both the binary log
and the relay log would use the following instruments:
- wait/io/file/sql/binlog
- wait/io/file/sql/binlog_index
- wait/synch/mutex/sql/MYSQL_BIN_LOG::LOCK_index
- wait/synch/cond/sql/MYSQL_BIN_LOG::update_cond

This instrumentation is too general and can be more specific.

With this fix, the binlog instrumentation is identical,
and the relay log instrumentation is changed to:
- wait/io/file/sql/relaylog
- wait/io/file/sql/relaylog_index
- wait/synch/mutex/sql/MYSQL_RELAY_LOG::LOCK_index
- wait/synch/cond/sql/MYSQL_RELAY_LOG::update_cond

With this change, the performance instrumentation for the binary log and the relay log,
which share the same structure but have different uses, is more detailed.
This is especially important for hosts in the middle of a replication chain,
that are both masters (binlog) and slaves (relaylog).

a8a757c6bb wl#173 - temporal types with sub-second resolution
and collateral changes.

* introduce my_hrtime_t, my_timediff_t, and conversion macros
* inroduce TIME_RESULT, but it can only be returned from Item::cmp_type(),
  never from Item::result_type()
* pack_time/unpack_time function for "packed" representation of
  MYSQL_TIME in a longlong that can be compared
* ADDTIME()/SUBTIME()/+- INTERVAL now work with TIME values
* numbers aren't quoted in EXPLAIN EXTENDED
* new column I_S.COLUMNS.DATETIME_PRECISION
* date/time values are compares to anything as date/time, not as strings or numbers.
* old timestamp(X) is no longer supported
* MYSQL_TIME to string conversion functions take precision as an argument
* unified the warnings from Field_timestamp/datetime/time/date/newdate store methods
* Field_timestamp_hires, Field_datetime_hires, Field_time_hires
* Field_temporal
* Lazy_string class to pass a value (string, number, time) polymorphically down the stack
* make_truncated_value_warning and Field::set_datetime_warning use Lazy_string as an argument, removed char*/int/double variants
* removed Field::can_be_compared_as_longlong(). Use Field::cmp_type() == INT_RESULT instead
* introduced Item::cmp_result() instead of Item::is_datetime() and Item::result_as_longlong()
* in many cases date/time types are treated like other types, not as special cases
* greatly simplified Arg_comparator (regarding date/time/year code)
* SEC_TO_TIME is real function, not integer.
* microsecond precision in NOW, CURTIME, etc
* Item_temporal. All items derived from it only provide get_date, but no val* methods
* replication of NOW(6)
* Protocol::store(time) now takes the precision as an argument
* @@TIMESTAMP is a double
