75f0f1708b MDEV-6543 Crash if enable 'federatedx' when 'federated' plugin already enabled, and vice-versa
INSTALL SONAME ignores attempts to load the same plugin twice, it's not an error
(because one can load one plugin by name and then install soname for the rest).
But Federated and FederatedX are different plugins, despite having the same name.

Now plugin_add() only considers two plugins identical if their names are the same
string (compared as pointers). Otherwise it reports an error.,

f0f2072d1f Fixed problem with very slow shutdown when using 100,000 MyISAM tables with delay_key_write
Reason for the problem was that the hash of changed files in the key cache was too small (was 128). Fixed by making the hash size larger and changeable.

- Introduced key-cache-file-hash-size (default 512) for MyISAM and aria_pagecache_file_hash_size (default 512) for Aria.
- Added new status variable "Feature_delay_key_write" which counts number of tables opened that are using delay_key_write

ff205b25d5 Fixed assert in perfschema/pfs.cc::start_idle_wait_v1 when using performance schema and big packets in debug version.
The bug was that my_real_read() called net_before_header_psi() multiple times for long packets.
Fixed by adding a flag when we are reading a header.
Did also some cleanups to interface of my_net_read() to avoid unnecessary calls if performance schema is not used.

- Added my_net_read_packet() as a replacement for my_net_read(). my_net_read() is still in the client library for old clients.
- Removed THD->m_server_idle (not needed anymore as this is now given as argument to my_net_read_packet()
- Added my_net_read_packet(), which is a new version of my_net_read() with a new parameter if we are doing a read for a new command from the server.
- Added tests for compressed protocol and big packets

501c56ef1e MDEV-5262, MDEV-5914, MDEV-5941, MDEV-6020: Deadlocks during parallel replication causing replication to fail.
Merge the patches into MariaDB 10.0 main.

With this patch, parallel replication will now automatically retry a
transaction that fails due to deadlock or other temporary error, same as
single-threaded replication.

We catch deadlocks with InnoDB transactions due to enforced commit order. If
T1 must commit before T2 in parallel replication and T1 ends up waiting for T2
inside InnoDB, we kill T2 and retry it later to resolve the deadlock
automatically.

library version.

8f21a31669 MDEV-6435: Assertion `m_status == DA_ERROR' failed in Diagnostics_area::sql_errno() with parallel replication
When a MyISAM query is killed midway, the query is logged to the binlog marked
with the error.

The slave does not attempt to run the query, but aborts with a suitable error
message in the error log for the DBA to act on.

In this case, the parallel replication code would check the sql_errno() code,
even no my_error() had been set. In debug builds, this causes an assertion.

Fixed the code to check that we actually have an error set before querying for
an error code.

98fc5b3af8 MDEV-5262, MDEV-5914, MDEV-5941, MDEV-6020: Deadlocks during parallel replication causing replication to fail.
After-review changes.

For this patch in 10.0, we do not introduce a new public storage engine API,
we just fix the InnoDB/XtraDB issues. In 10.1, we will make a better public
API that can be used for all storage engines (MDEV-6429).

Eliminate the background thread that did deadlock kills asynchroneously.
Instead, we ensure that the InnoDB/XtraDB code can handle doing the kill from
inside the deadlock detection code (when thd_report_wait_for() needs to kill a
later thread to resolve a deadlock).

(We preserve the part of the original patch that introduces dedicated mutex
and condition for the slave init thread, to remove the abuse of
LOCK_thread_count for start/stop synchronisation of the slave init thread).

5111df0814 BUG#13874553: rpl.rpl_stop_slave fails sporadically on pb2
The test case makes use of the fine DEBUG_SYNC facility. Furthermore,
since it needs synchronization on internal threads (dump and SQL
threads) the server code has DEBUG_SYNC commands internally deployed
and activated through the DBUG_EXECUTE_IF macro. The internal
DBUG_SYNC commands are then controlled from the test case through the
DEBUG variable.

There were three problems around the DEBUG + DEBUG_SYNC facility
usage:

1. When signaling the SQL thread to continue, the test would reset
immediately the DEBUG_SYNC variable. This could mean that the SQL
   thread might loose the signal and continue to wait forever;

2. A similar scenario was happening with the dump thread on the
master. This thread was instructed to wait, and later it would be
signaled to continue, but immediately after the DEBUG_SYNC would be
reset. This could lead to the dump thread missing the signal and
   wait forever;

3. The test was not cleaning itself up with respect to the
instrumentation of the dump thread. This would leave the
conditional execution of an internal DEBUG_SYNC command active
   (through the usage of DBUG_EXECUTE_IF).

We fix #1 and #2 by waiting for the threads to receive the signal and
only then issue the reset. We fix #3 by reseting the DEBUG variable,
thus deactivating the dump thread internal DEBUG_SYNC command.

9150a0c7cb MDEV-4937: sql_slave_skip_counter does not work with GTID
The sql_slave_skip_counter is important to be able to recover replication from
certain errors. Often, an appropriate solution is to set
sql_slave_skip_counter to skip over a problem event. But setting
sql_slave_skip_counter produced an error in GTID mode, with a suggestion to
instead set @@gtid_slave_pos to point past the problem event. This however is
not always possible; for example, in case of an INCIDENT event, that event
does not have any GTID to assign to @@gtid_slave_pos.

With this patch, sql_slave_skip_counter now works in GTID mode the same was as
in non-GTID mode. When set, that many initial events are skipped when the SQL
thread starts, plus as many extra events are needed to completely skip any
partially skipped event group. The GTID position is updated to point past the
skipped event(s).

a985ac3aff MDEV-6336: mysqldump --master-data does not work with GTID setups
MDEV-6344: mysqldump issues FLUSH TABLES, which gets written into binlog and replicated

Add a --gtid option (for compatibility, the original behaviour is preserved
when --gtid is not used).

With --gtid, --master-data and --dump-slave output the GTID position (the
old-style file/offset position is still output, but commented out). Also, a
CHANGE MASTER TO master_use_gtid=slave_pos is output to ensure a provisioned
slave is configured in GTID, as requested.

Without --gtid, the GTID position is still output, if available, but commented
out.

Also fix MDEV-6344, to avoid FLUSH TABLES getting into the binlog. Otherwise a
mysqldump on a slave server will silently inject a GTID which does not exist
on the master, which is highly undesirable.

Also fix an incorrect error handling around obtaining binlog position with
--master-data (was probably unlikely to trigger in most cases).

the first 50000 bytes, so if the error log grew too big the tests would fail.

This patch extends search_pattern_in_file.inc with an option to specify how
much of the file to search, and whether to search from the start of the file
or from the end. Then the rpl.rpl_checksum and rpl.rpl_gtid_errorlog test
cases are fixed to search the last 50000 bytes of the error log, which will
work no matter how large prior tests have made it.

370318f894 MDEV-6386: Assertion `thd->transaction.stmt.is_empty() || thd->in_sub_stmt || (thd->state_flags & Open_tables_state::BACKUPS_AVAIL)' fails with parallel replication
The direct cause of the assertion was missing error handling in
record_gtid(). If ha_commit_trans() fails for the statement commit, there was
missing code to catch the error and do ha_rollback_trans() in this case; this
caused close_thread_tables() to assert.

Normally, this error case is not hit, but in this case it was triggered due to
another bug: When a transaction T1 fails during parallel replication, the code
would signal following transactions that they could start to run without
properly marking the error condition. This caused subsequent transactions to
incorrectly start replicating, only to get an error later during their own
commit step. This was particularly serious if the subsequent transactions were
DDL or MyISAM updates, which cannot be rolled back and would leave replication
in an inconsistent state.

Fixed by 1) in case of error, only signal following transactions to continue
once the error has been properly marked and those transactions will know not
to start; and 2) implement proper error handling in record_gtid() in the case
that statement commit fails.

If replication breaks in GTID mode, it is not trivial to determine the GTID of

312219cc63 MDEV-6364: Migrate a slave from MySQL 5.6 to MariaDB 10 break replication
MySQL 5.6 implemented WL#344, which is about a MASTER_DELAY option to CHANGE
MASTER. But as part of this worklog, the format of the realy-log.info file was
changed. The new format is not understood by earlier versions, and nor by
MariaDB 10.0, so changing server to those versions would cause the slave to
abort with an error due to reading incorrect data out of relay-log.info.

Fix this by backporting from the WL#344 patch just the code that understands
the new relay-log.info format. We still write out the old format, and none of
the MASTER_DELAY feature is backported with this commit.

24756e8e3f BUG#18618561: FAILED ALTER TABLE ENGINE CHANGE WITH PARTITIONS
CORRUPTS FRM

Analysis:
---------
ALTER TABLE on a partitioned table resulted in the wrong
engine being written into the table's FRM file and displayed
in SHOW CREATE TABLE.

The prep_alter_part_table() modifies the partition_info object
for TABLE instance representing the old version of table.
If the ALTER TABLE ENGINE statement fails, the partition_info
object for the TABLE contains the altered storage engine name.
The SHOW CREATE TABLE uses the TABLE object to display the table
information, hence displays incorrect storage engine for the table.
Also a subsequent successful ALTER TABLE operation will write the
incorrect engine information into the FRM file.

Fix:
---
A copy of the partition_info object is created before modification so
that any changes would not cause the the original partition_info object
to be modified if the ALTER TABLE fails.(Backported part of the code
provided as fix for bug#14156617 in mysql-5.6.6).

bd4153a8c2 MDEV-5262, MDEV-5914, MDEV-5941, MDEV-6020: Deadlocks during parallel
replication causing replication to fail.

Remove the temporary fix for MDEV-5914, which used READ COMMITTED for parallel
replication worker threads. Replace it with a better, more selective solution.

The issue is with certain edge cases of InnoDB gap locks, for example between
INSERT and ranged DELETE. It is possible for the gap lock set by the DELETE to
block the INSERT, if the DELETE runs first, while the record lock set by
INSERT does not block the DELETE, if the INSERT runs first. This can cause a
conflict between the two in parallel replication on the slave even though they
ran without conflicts on the master.

With this patch, InnoDB will ask the server layer about the two involved
transactions before blocking on a gap lock. If the server layer tells InnoDB
that the transactions are already fixed wrt. commit order, as they are in
parallel replication, InnoDB will ignore the gap lock and allow the two
transactions to proceed in parallel, avoiding the conflict.

Improve the fix for MDEV-6020. When InnoDB itself detects a deadlock, it now
asks the server layer for any preferences about which transaction to roll
back. In case of parallel replication with two transactions T1 and T2 fixed to
commit T1 before T2, the server layer will ask InnoDB to roll back T2 as the
deadlock victim, not T1. This helps in some cases to avoid excessive deadlock
rollback, as T2 will in any case need to wait for T1 to complete before it can
itself commit.

Also some misc. fixes found during development and testing:

 - Remove thd_rpl_is_parallel(), it is not used or needed.

 - Use KILL_CONNECTION instead of KILL_QUERY when a parallel replication
worker thread is killed to resolve a deadlock with fixed commit
ordering. There are some cases, eg. in sql/sql_parse.cc, where a KILL_QUERY
can be ignored if the query otherwise completed successfully, and this
could cause the deadlock kill to be lost, so that the deadlock was not
   correctly resolved.

 - Fix random test failure due to missing wait_for_binlog_checkpoint.inc.

 - Make sure that deadlock or other temporary errors during parallel
replication are not printed to the the error log; there were some places
around the replication code with extra error logging. These conditions can
occur occasionally and are handled automatically without breaking
replication, so they should not pollute the error log.

 - Fix handling of rgi->gtid_sub_id. We need to be able to access this also at
the end of a transaction, to be able to detect and resolve deadlocks due to
commit ordering. But this value was also used as a flag to mark whether
record_gtid() had been called, by being set to zero, losing the value. Now,
introduce a separate flag rgi->gtid_pending, so rgi->gtid_sub_id remains
valid for the entire duration of the transaction.

 - Fix one place where the code to handle ignored errors called reset_killed()
unconditionally, even if no error was caught that should be ignored. This
could cause loss of a deadlock kill signal, breaking deadlock detection and
   resolution.

 - Fix a couple of missing mysql_reset_thd_for_next_command(). This could
cause a prior error condition to remain for the next event executed,
causing assertions about errors already being set and possibly giving
incorrect error handling for following event executions.

 - Fix code that cleared thd->rgi_slave in the parallel replication worker
threads after each event execution; this caused the deadlock detection and
handling code to not be able to correctly process the associated
transactions as belonging to replication worker threads.

 - Remove useless error code in slave_background_kill_request().

 - Fix bug where wfc->wakeup_error was not cleared at
   wait_for_commit::unregister_wait_for_prior_commit(). This could cause the
error condition to wrongly propagate to a later wait_for_prior_commit(),
   causing spurious ER_PRIOR_COMMIT_FAILED errors.

 - Do not put the binlog background thread into the processlist. It causes
too many result differences in mtr, but also it probably is not useful
for users to pollute the process list with a system thread that does not
   really perform any user-visible tasks...

b5299f3559 Bug #18806829 OPENING INNODB TABLES WITH MANY FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES IS
SLOW/CRASHES SEMAPHORE

Problem:

There are 2 lakh tables - fk_000001, fk_000002 ... fk_200000. All of them
are related to the same parent_table through a foreign key constraint.
When the parent_table is loaded into the dictionary cache, all the child table
will also be loaded. This is taking lot of time. Since this operation happens
when the dictionary latch is taken, the scenario leads to "long semaphore wait"
situation and the server gets killed.

Analysis:

A simple performance analysis showed that the slowness is because of the
dict_foreign_find() function. It does a linear search on two linked list
table->foreign_list and table->referenced_list, looking for a particular
foreign key object based on foreign->id as the key. This is called two
times for each foreign key object.

Solution:

Introduce a rb tree in table->foreign_rbt and table->referenced_rbt, which
are some sort of index on table->foreign_list and table->referenced_list
respectively, using foreign->id as the key. These rbt structures will be
solely used by dict_foreign_find().

Merge from mysql-5.6:
revno: 3257
committer: Jon Olav Hauglid <jon.hauglid@oracle.com>
branch nick: mysql-trunk-bug11756966
timestamp: Thu 2011-07-14 09:32:01 +0200
message:
Bug#11756966 - 48958: STORED PROCEDURES CAN BE LEVERAGED TO BYPASS
                 DATABASE SECURITY

The problem was that CREATE PROCEDURE/FUCTION could be used to
check the existence of databases for which the user had no
privileges and therefore should not be allowed to see.

The reason was that existence of a given database was checked
before privileges. So trying to create a stored routine in
a non-existent database would give a different error than trying
to create a stored routine in a restricted database.

This patch fixes the problem by changing the order of the checks
for CREATE PROCEDURE/FUNCTION so that privileges are checked first.
This means that trying to create a stored routine in a

629b822913 MDEV-5262, MDEV-5914, MDEV-5941, MDEV-6020: Deadlocks during parallel
replication causing replication to fail.

In parallel replication, we run transactions from the master in parallel, but
force them to commit in the same order they did on the master. If we force T1
to commit before T2, but T2 holds eg. a row lock that is needed by T1, we get
a deadlock when T2 waits until T1 has committed.

Usually, we do not run T1 and T2 in parallel if there is a chance that they
can have conflicting locks like this, but there are certain edge cases where
it can occasionally happen (eg. MDEV-5914, MDEV-5941, MDEV-6020). The bug was
that this would cause replication to hang, eventually getting a lock timeout
and causing the slave to stop with error.

With this patch, InnoDB will report back to the upper layer whenever a
transactions T1 is about to do a lock wait on T2. If T1 and T2 are parallel
replication transactions, and T2 needs to commit later than T1, we can thus
detect the deadlock; we then kill T2, setting a flag that causes it to catch
the kill and convert it to a deadlock error; this error will then cause T2 to
roll back and release its locks (so that T1 can commit), and later T2 will be
re-tried and eventually also committed.

The kill happens asynchroneously in a slave background thread; this is
necessary, as the reporting from InnoDB about lock waits happen deep inside
the locking code, at a point where it is not possible to directly call
THD::awake() due to mutexes held.

Deadlock is assumed to be (very) rarely occuring, so this patch tries to
minimise the performance impact on the normal case where no deadlocks occur,
rather than optimise the handling of the occasional deadlock.

Also fix transaction retry due to deadlock when it happens after a transaction
already signalled to later transactions that it started to commit. In this
case we need to undo this signalling (and later redo it when we commit again
during retry), so following transactions will not start too early.

Also add a missing thd->send_kill_message() that got triggered during testing
(this corrects an incorrect fix for MySQL Bug#58933).

f220233512 Bug#17217128 : BAD INTERACTION BETWEEN MIN/MAX AND
"HAVING SUM(DISTINCT)": WRONG RESULTS.
ISSUE:
------
If a query uses loose index scan and it has both
AGG(DISTINCT) and MIN()/MAX()functions. Then, result values
of MIN/MAX() is set improperly.
When query has AGG(DISTINCT) then end_select is set to
end_send_group. "end_send_group" keeps doing aggregation
until it sees a record from next group. And, then it will
send out the result row of that group.
Since query also has MIN()/MAX() and loose index scan is
used, values of MIN/MAX() are set as part of loose index
scan itself. Setting MIN()/MAX() values as part of loose
index scan overwrites values computed in end_send_group.
This caused invalid result.
For such queries to work loose index scan should stop
performing MIN/MAX() aggregation. And, let end_send_group to
do the same. But according to current design loose index
scan can produce only one row per group key. If we have both
MIN() and MAX() then it has to give two records out. This is
not possible as interface has to use common buffer
record[0]! for both records at a time.

SOLUTIONS:
----------
For such queries to work we need a new interface for loose
index scan. Hence, do not choose loose_index_scan for such
cases. So a new rule SA7 is introduced to take care of the
same.

SA7: "If Q has both AGG_FUNC(DISTINCT ...) and
MIN/MAX() functions then loose index scan access
      method is not used."

2870bd7423 Bug#17283409 4-WAY DEADLOCK: ZOMBIES, PURGING BINLOGS,
SHOW PROCESSLIST, SHOW BINLOGS

Problem: A deadlock was occurring when 4 threads were
involved in acquiring locks in the following way
Thread 1: Dump thread ( Slave is reconnecting, so on
Master, a new dump thread is trying kill
zombie dump threads. It acquired thread's
LOCK_thd_data and it is about to acquire
              mysys_var->current_mutex ( which LOCK_log)
Thread 2: Application thread is executing show binlogs and
acquired LOCK_log and it is about to acquire
               LOCK_index.
Thread 3: Application thread is executing Purge binary logs
and acquired LOCK_index and it is about to
               acquire LOCK_thread_count.
Thread 4: Application thread is executing show processlist
and acquired LOCK_thread_count and it is
about to acquire zombie dump thread's
               LOCK_thd_data.
Deadlock Cycle:
     Thread 1 -> Thread 2 -> Thread 3-> Thread 4 ->Thread 1

The same above deadlock was observed even when thread 4 is
executing 'SELECT * FROM information_schema.processlist' command and
acquired LOCK_thread_count and it is about to acquire zombie
dump thread's LOCK_thd_data.

Analysis:
There are four locks involved in the deadlock. LOCK_log,
LOCK_thread_count, LOCK_index and LOCK_thd_data.
LOCK_log, LOCK_thread_count, LOCK_index are global mutexes
where as LOCK_thd_data is local to a thread.
We can divide these four locks in two groups.
Group 1 consists of LOCK_log and LOCK_index and the order
should be LOCK_log followed by LOCK_index.
Group 2 consists of other two mutexes
LOCK_thread_count, LOCK_thd_data and the order should
be LOCK_thread_count followed by LOCK_thd_data.
Unfortunately, there is no specific predefined lock order defined
to follow in the MySQL system when it comes to locks across these
two groups. In the above problematic example,
there is no problem in the way we are acquiring the locks
if you see each thread individually.
But If you combine all 4 threads, they end up in a deadlock.

Fix:
Since everything seems to be fine in the way threads are taking locks,
In this patch We are changing the duration of the locks in Thread 4
to break the deadlock. i.e., before the patch, Thread 4
('show processlist' command) mysqld_list_processes()
function acquires LOCK_thread_count for the complete duration
of the function and it also acquires/releases
each thread's LOCK_thd_data.

LOCK_thread_count is used to protect addition and
deletion of threads in global threads list. While show
process list is looping through all the existing threads,
it will be a problem if a thread is exited but there is no problem
if a new thread is added to the system. Hence a new mutex is
introduced "LOCK_thd_remove" which will protect deletion
of a thread from global threads list. All threads which are
getting exited should acquire LOCK_thd_remove
followed by LOCK_thread_count. (It should take LOCK_thread_count
also because other places of the code still thinks that exit thread
is protected with LOCK_thread_count. In this fix, we are changing
only 'show process list' query logic )
(Eg: unlink_thd logic will be protected with
LOCK_thd_remove).

Logic of mysqld_list_processes(or file_schema_processlist)
will now be protected with 'LOCK_thd_remove' instead of
'LOCK_thread_count'.

Now the new locking order after this patch is:
LOCK_thd_remove -> LOCK_thd_data -> LOCK_log ->
LOCK_index -> LOCK_thread_count

b0b60f2498 MDEV-5262: Missing retry after temp error in parallel replication
Start implementing that an event group can be re-tried in parallel replication
if it fails with a temporary error (like deadlock).

Patch is very incomplete, just some very basic retry works.

Stuff still missing (not complete list):

 - Handle moving to the next relay log file, if event group to be retried
   spans multiple relay log files.

 - Handle refcounting of relay log files, to ensure that we do not purge a
relay log file and then later attempt to re-execute events out of it.

 - Handle description_event_for_exec - we need to save this somehow for the
possible retry - and use the correct one in case it differs between relay
   logs.

 - Do another retry attempt in case the first retry also fails.

 - Limit the max number of retries.

 - Lots of testing will be needed for the various edge cases.

8ade414b28 Bug#17909656 - WRONG RESULTS FOR A SIMPLE QUERY WITH GROUP BY
Problem:
If there is a predicate on a column referenced by MIN/MAX and
that predicate is not present in all the disjunctions on
keyparts earlier in the compound index, Loose Index Scan will
not return correct result.

Analysis:
When loose index scan is chosen, range optimizer currently
groups all the predicates that contain group parts separately
and minmax parts separately. It therefore applies all the
conditions on the group parts first to the fetched row.
Then in the call to next_max, it processes the conditions
which have min/max keypart.

For ex in the following query:
Select f1, max(f2) from t1 where (f1 = 10 and f2 = 13) or
(f1 = 3) group by f1;
Condition (f2 = 13) would be applied even for rows that
satisfy (f1 = 3) thereby giving wrong results.

Solution:
Do not choose loose_index_scan for such cases. So a new rule
WA2 is introduced to take care of the same.

WA2: "If there are predicates on C, these predicates must
be in conjuction to all predicates on all earlier keyparts
in I."

Todo the same, fix reuses the function get_constant_key_infix().
Since this funciton will fail for all multi-range conditions, it
is re-written to recognize that if the sub-conditions are
equivalent across the disjuncts: it will now succeed.
And to achieve this a new helper function is introduced called
all_same().

The fix also moves the test of NGA3 up to the former only
caller, get_constant_key_infix().

b6283d4f97 Bug#17638477 UNINSTALL AND INSTALL SEMI-SYNC PLUGIN CAUSES SLAVES TO BREAK
Problem: Uninstallation of semi sync plugin causes replication to
break.

Analysis: A semisync enabled replication is mutual agreement between
Master and Slave when the connection (I/O thread) is established.
Once I/O thread is started and if semisync is enabled on both
master and slave, master appends special magic header to events
using semisync plugin functions and sends it to slave. And slave
expects that each event will have that special magic header format
and reads those bytes using semisync plugin functions.

When semi sync replication is in use if users execute
uninstallation of the plugin on master, slave gets confused while
interpreting that event's content because it expects special
magic header at the beginning of the event. Slave SQL thread will
be stopped with "Missing magic number in the header" error.

Similar problem will happen if uninstallation of the plugin happens
on slave when semi sync replication is in in use. Master sends
the events with magic header and slave does not know about the
added magic header and thinks that it received a corrupted event.
Hence slave SQL thread stops with "Found corrupted event" error.

Fix: Uninstallation of semisync plugin will be blocked when semisync
replication is in use and will throw 'ER_UNKNOWN_ERROR' error.
To detect that semisync replication is in use, this patch uses
semisync status variable values.
 > On Master, it checks for 'Rpl_semi_sync_master_status' to be OFF
before allowing the uninstallation of rpl_semi_sync_master plugin.
    >> Rpl_semi_sync_master_status is OFF when
        >>> there is no dump thread running
        >>> there are no semisync slaves
 > On Slave, it checks for 'Rpl_semi_sync_slave_status' to be OFF
before allowing the uninstallation of rpl_semi_sync_slave plugin.
    >> Rpl_semi_sync_slave_status is OFF when
       >>> there is no I/O thread running
       >>> replication is asynchronous replication.

5e881cc435 BUG#17994219: CREATE TABLE .. SELECT PRODUCES INVALID STRUCTURE,
BREAKS RBR

Analysis:
--------
A table created using a query of the format:
CREATE TABLE t1 AS SELECT REPEAT('A',1000) DIV 1 AS a;
breaks the Row Based Replication.

The query above creates a table having a field of datatype
'bigint' with a display width of 3000 which is beyond the
maximum acceptable value of 255.

In the RBR mode, CREATE TABLE SELECT statement is
replicated as a combination of CREATE TABLE statement
equivalent to one the returned by SHOW CREATE TABLE and
row events for rows inserted. When this CREATE TABLE event
is executed on the slave, an error is reported:
Display width out of range for column 'a' (max = 255)

The following is the output of 'SHOW CREATE TABLE t1':
CREATE TABLE t1(`a` bigint(3000) DEFAULT NULL)
                  ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;

The problem is due to the combination of two facts:

1) The above CREATE TABLE SELECT statement uses the display
width of the result of DIV operation as the display width
of the column created without validating the width for out
   of bound condition.
2) The DIV operation incorrectly returns the length of its first
argument as the display width of its result; thus allowing
creation of a table with an incorrect display width of 3000
   for the field.

Fix:
----
This fix changes the DIV operation implementation to correctly
evaluate the display width of its result. We check if DIV's
results estimated width crosses maximum width for integer
value (21) and if yes set it to this maximum value.

This patch also fixes fixes maximum display width evaluation
for DIV function when its first argument is in UCS2.

Bug#18396916 MAIN.OUTFILE_LOADDATA TEST FAILS ON ARM, AARCH64, PPC/PPC64

The recorded results for the failing tests were wrong.
They were introduced by the patch for
Bug#30946 mysqldump silently ignores --default-character-set when used with --tab

Correct results were returned for platforms where 'char' is implemented as unsigned.
  This was reported as
  Bug#46895 Test "outfile_loaddata" fails (reproducible)
  Bug#11755168 46895: TEST "OUTFILE_LOADDATA" FAILS (REPRODUCIBLE)
The patch for that bug fixed only parts of the problem,
leaving the incorrect results in the .result file.

Solution: use 'uchar' for field_terminator and line_terminator on all platforms.
Also: remove some un-necessary casts, leaving the ones we actually need.

010971a761 MDEV-6156: Parallel replication incorrectly caches charset between worker threads
Replication caches the character sets used in a query, to be able to quickly
reuse them for the next query in the common case of them not having changed.

In parallel replication, this caching needs to be per-worker-thread. The
code was not modified to handle this correctly, so the caching in one worker
could cause another worker to run a query using the wrong character set,
causing replication corruption.

Back-ported from the mysql 5.6 code line the patch with
the following comment:

Fix for Bug#11757108 CHANGE IN EXECUTION PLAN FOR COUNT_DISTINCT_GROUP_ON_KEY
                       CAUSES PEFORMANCE REGRESSION

The cause for the performance regression is that the access strategy for the
GROUP BY query is changed form using "index scan" in mysql-5.1 to use "loose
index scan" in mysql-5.5. The index used for group by is unique and thus each
"loose scan" group will only contain one record. Since loose scan needs to
re-position on each "loose scan" group this query will do a re-position for
each index entry. Compared to just reading the next index entry as a normal
index scan does, the use of loose scan for this query becomes more expensive.

The cause for selecting to use loose scan for this query is that in the current
code when the size of the "loose scan" group is one, the formula for
calculating the cost estimates becomes almost identical to the cost of using
normal index scan. Differences in use of integer versus floating point arithmetic
can cause one or the other access strategy to be selected.

The main issue with the formula for estimating the cost of using loose scan is
that it does not take into account that it is more costly to do a re-position
for each "loose scan" group compared to just reading the next index entry.
Both index scan and loose scan estimates the cpu cost as:

"number of entries needed too read/scan" * ROW_EVALUATE_COST

The results from testing with the query in this bug indicates that the real
cost for doing re-position four to eight times higher than just reading the
next index entry. Thus, the cpu cost estimate for loose scan should be increased.
To account for the extra work to re-position in the index we increase the
cost for loose index scan to include the cost of navigating the index.
This is modelled as a function of the height of the b-tree:

    navigation cost= ceil(log(records in table)/log(indexes per block))
                   * ROWID_COMPARE_COST;

This will avoid loose index scan being used for indexes where the "loose scan"
group contains very few index entries.

This bug only occurs if a user tries to update a base table using
an updatable view and this view was created as a join for which
the clause 'WITH CHECK OPTION' was specified.

The reason for the bug was that when such an update was
executed, row positions were not properly handled for tables
that were not updated but had constraints that had to be
checked due to the 'WITH CHECK OPTION' clause.

The reason for the bug was that when such update is executed
then for tables specified in the view definition and
also listed in the 'WITH CHECK OPTION' clause the positioning to
row being updated is not performed.

1b74f2e3da Bug#17942050:KILL OF TRUNCATE TABLE WILL LEAD TO BINARY LOG
WRITTEN WHILE ROWS REMAINS

Problem:
========
When truncate table fails while using transactional based
engines even though the operation errors out we still
continue and log it to binlog. Because of this master has
data but the truncate will be written to binary log which
will cause inconsistency.

Analysis:
========
Truncate table can happen either through drop and create of
table or by deleting rows. In the second case the existing
code is written in such a way that even if an error occurs
the truncate statement will always be binlogged. Which is not
correct.

Binlogging of TRUNCATE TABLE statement should check whether
truncate is executed "transactionally or not". If the table
is transaction based we log the TRUNCATE TABLE only on
successful completion.

If table is non transactional there are possibilities that on
error we could have partial changes done hence in such cases
we do log in spite of errors as some of the lines might have
been removed, so the statement has to be sent to slave.

Fix:
===
Using table handler whether truncate table is being executed
in transaction based mode or not is identified and statement
is binlogged accordingly.

244d4b532a MDEV-6081: ORDER BY+ref(const): selectivity is very incorrect (MySQL Bug#14338686)
Add a testcase and backport this fix:

Bug#14338686: MYSQL IS GENERATING DIFFERENT AND SLOWER
              (IN NEWER VERSIONS) EXECUTION PLAN
PROBLEM:
While checking for an index to sort for the order by clause
in this query
"SELECT datestamp FROM contractStatusHistory WHERE
contract_id = contracts.id ORDER BY datestamp asc limit 1;"

we do not calculate the number of rows to be examined correctly.
As a result we choose index 'idx_contractStatusHistory_datestamp'
defined on the 'datestamp' field, rather than choosing index
'contract_id'. And hence the lower performance.

ANALYSIS:
While checking if an index is present to give the records in
sorted order(datestamp), we consider the selectivity of the
'ref_key'(contract_id here) using 'table->quick_condition_rows'.
'ref_key' here can be an index from 'REF_ACCESS' or from 'RANGE'.

As this is a 'REF_ACCESS', 'table->quick_condition_rows' is not
set to the actual value which is 2. Instead is set to the number
of tuples present in the table indicating that every row that
is selected would be satisfying the condition present in the query.

Hence, the selectivity becomes 1 even when we choose the index
on the order by column instead of the join_condition.

But, in reality as only 2 rows satisy the condition, we need to
examine half of the entire data set to get one tuple when we
choose index on the order by column.
Had we chosen the 'REF_ACCESS' we would have examined only 2 tuples.
Hence the delay in executing the query specified.

FIX:
While calculating the selectivity of the ref_key:
For REF_ACCESS consider quick_rows[ref_key] if range
optimizer has an estimate for this key. Else consider
'rec_per_key' statistic.
For RANGE ACCESS consider 'table->quick_condition_rows'.

5027338039 Fix bug https://code.launchpad.net/~laurynas-biveinis/percona-server/bug1295268
(Inadequate background LRU flushing for write workloads with InnoDB compression).

If InnoDB compression is used and the workload has writes, the
following situation is possible. The LRU flusher issues an LRU flush
request for an instance. buf_do_LRU_batch decides to perform
unzip_LRU eviction and this eviction might fully satisfy the
request. Then buf_flush_LRU_tail checks the number of flushed pages in
the last iteration, finds it to be zero, and wrongly decides not to
  flush that instance anymore.

Fixed by maintaining unzip_LRU eviction counter in struct
flush_counter_t variables, and checking it in buf_flush_LRU_tail when
deciding whether to stop flushing the current instance.

Added test cases for new configuration files to get mysql-test-run suite sys_vars
to pass. Fix some small errors.

b18a1b0e6c MDEV-5850: MySQL Bug#21317: SHOW CREATE DATABASE does not obey to lower_case_table_names
Bug #3329 Incomplete lower_case_table_names=2 implementation

The problem was that check_db_name() converted database names to lower case also in case of lower_case_table_names=2.

Fixed by removing the conversion in check_db_name for lower_case_table_names = 2 and instead converting db name to
lower case at same places as table names are converted.

Fixed bug that SHOW CREATE DATABASE FOO showed information for database 'foo'.

I also removed some checks of lower_case_table_names when it was enough to use table_alias_charset.

mysql-test/mysql-test-run.pl:
Added --use-copy argument to force mysql-test-run to copy files instead of doing symlinks. This is needed when you run

sql/sql_base.cc:
Don't check lower_case_table_names when we can use table_alias_charset
sql/sql_db.cc:
Use cmp_db_names() for checking if current database changed.
mysql_rm_db() now converts db to lower case if lower_case_table_names was used.
Changed database options cache to use table_alias_charset. This fixed a bug where SHOW CREATE DATABASE showed wrong information.
sql/sql_parse.cc:
Change also db name to lower case when file names are changed.
Don't need to story copy of database name anymore when lower_case_table_names == 2 as check_db_name() don't convert in this case.
  Updated arguments to mysqld_show_create_db().
When adding table to TABLE_LIST also convert db name to lower case if needed (same way as we do with table names).
sql/sql_show.cc:
mysqld_show_create_db() now also takes original name as argument for output to user.
sql/sql_show.h:
  Updated prototype for mysqld_show_create_db()
sql/sql_table.cc:
In mysql_rename_table(), do same conversions to database name as we do for the file name
