commit '6de482a6fefac0c21daf33ed465644151cdf879f'
10.3 no longer errors in truncate_notembedded.test
but per comments, a non-crash is all that we are after.
Fixed typo in my_malloc_size_cb_func. There is no max-thread-mem-used
sys variable in MariaDB, only max-session-mem-used. The relevant entry
in sys_vars.cc is also fixed.
Added a fallback case in case we could allocate the 256 bytes for the
error message containing the exact setting.
The crash happened because my_isalnum() does not support character
sets with mbminlen>1.
The value of "ft_boolean_syntax" is converted to utf8 in do_string_check().
So calling my_isalnum() is combination with "default_charset_info" was wrong.
Adding new parameters (size_t length, CHARSET_INFO *cs) to
ft_boolean_check_syntax_string() and passing self->charset(thd)
as the character set.
This is important since Sys_var_typelib and its descendants return
pointers to constant symbols from *_value_ptr, which are situated in
write-protected-memory.
* functions const-qualified:
- value_ptr
- session_value_ptr
- global_value_ptr
- default_value_ptr
- Sys_var_vers_asof::value_ptr
- other minor private ones
* remove C-style typecasts when it discards qualifiers
MDEV-16026: Forbid global system_versioning_asof in non-default time zone
* store `system_versioning_asof` in unix time;
* both session and global vars are processed in session timezone;
* setting `default` does not copy global variable anymore. Instead, it sets
system_time to SYSTEM_TIME_UNSPECIFIED, which means that no 'AS OF' time
is applied and `now()` can be assumed
As a regression, we cannot assign values below 1970 (UTC) anymore
MDEV-16481: set global system_versioning_asof=sf() crashes in specific case
* sys_vars.h: add `MYSQL_TIME` field to `set_var::save_result`
* sys_vars.ic: get rid of calling `var->value->get_date()` from
`Sys_var_vers_asof::update()`
* versioning.sysvars: add test; remove double warning
refactor Sys_var_vers_asof
* inherit from sys_var rather than Sys_var_enum
* remove junk "DEFAULT" keyword. There is DEFAULT in SQL grammar for it.
* make all conversions in check() to avoid possible errors
* avoid double var->value evaluation, which could
consequence in undefined behavior
The reason for the failure is that
thd->mdl_context.release_transactional_locks()
was called after commit & rollback even in cases where the current
transaction is still active.
For 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 the fix is simple:
- Replace all calls to thd->mdl_context.release_transactional_locks() with
thd->release_transactional_locks(). The thd function will only call
the mdl_context function if there are no active transactional locks.
In 10.6 we will better fix where we will change the return value for
some trans_xxx() functions to indicate if transaction did close the
transaction or not. This will avoid the need of the indirect call.
Other things:
- trans_xa_commit() and trans_xa_rollback() will automatically
call release_transactional_locks() if the transaction is closed.
- We can't do that for the other functions as the caller of many of these
are doing additional work (like close_thread_tables) before calling
release_transactional_locks().
- Added missing abort_result_set() and missing DBUG_RETURN in
select_create::send_eof()
- Fixed wrong indentation in injector::transaction::commit()
Due to restricted size of the threadpool, execution of client queries can
be delayed (queued) for a while. This delay was interpreted as client
inactivity, and connection is closed, if client idle time + queue time
exceeds wait_timeout.
But users did not expect queue time to be included into wait_timeout.
This patch changes the behavior. We don't close connection anymore,
if there is some unread data present on connection,
even if wait_timeout is exceeded. Unread data means that client
was not idle, it sent a query, which we did not have time to process yet.
Server auto-sets lower_case_file_system value based on default
datadir's behavior instead of instead of using the directory specified
by the user through the configuration file or command line options.
This patch fixes this problem.
Error state is not stored in check_and_do_in_subquery_rewrites() when there is
illegal combination of optimizer switches. So all the functions eventually
return false. Thus the assetion failure.
For DECIMAL[(M[,D])] datatype max_sort_length was not being honoured which was leading to buffer
overflow while making the sort key. The fix to this problem would be to create sort keys for decimals
with atmost max_sort_key bytes
Important:
The minimum value of max_sort_length has been raised to 8 (previously was 4),
so fixed size datatypes like DOUBLE and BIGINIT are not truncated for
lower values of max_sort_length.
This change takes into account a column's GENERATED ALWAYS AS
expression dependcy on sql_mode's PAD_CHAR_TO_FULL_LENGTH and
NO_UNSIGNED_SUBTRACTION flags.
Indexed virtual columns as well as persistent generated columns are
now not allowed to have such dependencies to avoid inconsistent data
or index files on sql_mode changes.
So an error is now returned in cases like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE t1
(
a CHAR(5),
v VARCHAR(5) AS (a) PERSISTENT -- CHAR->VARCHAR or CHAR->TEXT = ERROR
);
Functions RPAD() and RTRIM() can now remove dependency on
PAD_CHAR_TO_FULL_LENGTH. So this can be used instead:
CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE t1
(
a CHAR(5),
v VARCHAR(5) AS (RTRIM(a)) PERSISTENT
);
Note, unlike CHAR->VARCHAR and CHAR->TEXT this still works,
not RPAD(a) is needed:
CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE t1
(
a CHAR(5),
v CHAR(5) AS (a) PERSISTENT -- CHAR->CHAR is OK
);
More sql_mode flags may affect values of generated columns.
They will be addressed separately.
See comments in sql_mode.h for implementation details.
Originally introduced by e972125f1 to avoid harmless wait for
LOCK_global_system_variables in a newly created thread, which creation was
initiated by system variable update.
At the same time it opens dangerous hole, when system variable update
thread already released LOCK_global_system_variables and ack_receiver
thread haven't yet completed new THD construction. In this case THD
constructor goes completely unprotected.
Since ack_receiver.stop() waits for the thread to go down, we have to
temporarily release LOCK_global_system_variables so that it doesn't
deadlock with ack_receiver.run(). Unfortunately it breaks atomicity
of rpl_semi_sync_master_enabled updates and makes them not serialized.
LOCK_rpl_semi_sync_master_enabled was introduced to workaround the above.
TODO: move ack_receiver start/stop into repl_semisync_master
enable_master/disable_master under LOCK_binlog protection?
Part of MDEV-14984 - regression in connect performance
If we have a 2+ node cluster which is replicating from an async master
and the binlog_format is set to STATEMENT and multi-row inserts are executed
on a table with an auto_increment column such that values are automatically
generated by MySQL, then the server node generates wrong auto_increment
values, which are different from what was generated on the async master.
In the title of the MDEV-9519 it was proposed to ban start slave on a Galera
if master binlog_format = statement and wsrep_auto_increment_control = 1,
but the problem can be solved without such a restriction.
The causes and fixes:
1. We need to improve processing of changing the auto-increment values
after changing the cluster size.
2. If wsrep auto_increment_control switched on during operation of
the node, then we should immediately update the auto_increment_increment
and auto_increment_offset global variables, without waiting of the next
invocation of the wsrep_view_handler_cb() callback. In the current version
these variables retain its initial values if wsrep_auto_increment_control
is switched on during operation of the node, which leads to inconsistent
results on the different nodes in some scenarios.
3. If wsrep auto_increment_control switched off during operation of the node,
then we must return the original values of the auto_increment_increment and
auto_increment_offset global variables, as the user has set. To make this
possible, we need to add a "shadow copies" of these variables (which stores
the latest values set by the user).

The second line of changes related to replacing xtrabackup with
mariabackup:
1) All unnecessary references to xtrabackup are removed from
the documentation, from some comments, from the control files
that are used to prepare the packages.
2) Made corrections of the tests from the galera_3nodes suite
that mentioned xtrabackup or the old (associated with xtrabackup)
version of innobackupex.
3) Fixed flaws in the galera_3nodes mtr suite control scripts,
because of which they could not work with mariabackup.
4) Fixed numerous bugs in the SST scripts and in the mtr test
files (galera_3nodes mtr suite) that prevented the use of Galera
with IPv6 addresses.
5) Fixed flaws in tests for rsync and mysqldump (for galera_3nodes
mtr tests suite). These tests were not performed successfully without
these fixes.
