ee0cebf9a7 BUG#21726: Incorrect result with multiple invocations of LAST_INSERT_ID.
Note: bug#21726 does not directly apply to 4.1, as it doesn't have stored
procedures. However, 4.1 had some bugs that were fixed in 5.0 by the
patch for bug#21726, and this patch is a backport of those fixes.
Namely, in 4.1 it fixes:

  - LAST_INSERT_ID(expr) didn't return value of expr (4.1 specific).

  - LAST_INSERT_ID() could return the value generated by current
statement if the call happens after the generation, like in

      CREATE TABLE t1 (i INT AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, j INT);
      INSERT INTO t1 VALUES (NULL, 0), (NULL, LAST_INSERT_ID());

  - Redundant binary log LAST_INSERT_ID_EVENTs could be generated.

8798b462b5 Fix for the patch for bug#21726: Incorrect result with multiple
invocations of LAST_INSERT_ID.

Reding of LAST_INSERT_ID inside stored function wasn't noted by caller,
and no LAST_INSERT_ID_EVENT was issued for binary log.

The solution is to add THD::last_insert_id_used_bin_log, which is much
like THD::last_insert_id_used, but is reset only for upper-level
statements. This new variable is used to issue LAST_INSERT_ID_EVENT.

5ea8adfae7 BUG#21726: Incorrect result with multiple invocations of LAST_INSERT_ID
Non-upper-level INSERTs (the ones in the body of stored procedure,
stored function, or trigger) into a table that have AUTO_INCREMENT
column didn't affected the result of LAST_INSERT_ID() on this level.

The problem was introduced with the fix of bug 6880, which in turn was
introduced with the fix of bug 3117, where current insert_id value was
remembered on the first call to LAST_INSERT_ID() (bug 3117) and was
returned from that function until it was reset before the next
_upper-level_ statement (bug 6880).

The fix for bug#21726 brings back the behaviour of version 4.0, and
implements the following: remember insert_id value at the beginning
of the statement or expression (which at that point equals to
the first insert_id value generated by the previous statement), and
return that remembered value from LAST_INSERT_ID() or @@LAST_INSERT_ID.

Thus, the value returned by LAST_INSERT_ID() is not affected by values
generated by current statement, nor by LAST_INSERT_ID(expr) calls in
this statement.

Version 5.1 does not have this bug (it was fixed by WL 3146).

f22a4ce1a1 A fix and a test case for Bug#21002 "Derived table not selecting from a
"real" table fails in JOINs".

This is a regression caused by the fix for Bug 18444.
This fix removed the assignment of empty_c_string to table->db performed
in add_table_to_list, as neither me nor anyone else knew what it was
there for. Now we know it and it's covered with tests: the only case
when a table database name can be empty is when the table is a derived
table. The fix puts the assignment back but makes it a bit more explicit.

Additionally, finally drop sp.result.orig which was checked in by mistake.

2c9f5cc706 BUG#14553: NULL in WHERE resets LAST_INSERT_ID
To make MySQL compatible with some ODBC applications, you can find
the AUTO_INCREMENT value for the last inserted row with the following query:
SELECT * FROM tbl_name WHERE auto_col IS NULL.
This is done with a special code that replaces 'auto_col IS NULL' with
'auto_col = LAST_INSERT_ID'.
However this also resets the LAST_INSERT_ID to 0 as it uses it for a flag
so as to ensure that only the first SELECT ... WHERE auto_col IS NULL
after an INSERT has this special behaviour.
In order to avoid resetting the LAST_INSERT_ID a special flag is introduced
in the THD class. This flag is used to restrict the second and subsequent
SELECTs instead of LAST_INSERT_ID.

55d148c5c2 A fix for Bug#19022 "Memory bug when switching db during trigger execution".
No test case as the bug is in an existing test case (rpl_trigger.test
when it is run under valgrind).
The warning was caused by memory corruption in replication slave: thd->db
was pointing at a stack address that was previously used by
sp_head::execute()::old_db. This happened because mysql_change_db
behaved differently in replication slave and did not make a copy of the
argument to assign to thd->db.
The solution is to always free the old value of thd->db and allocate a new
copy, regardless whether we're running in a replication slave or not.

117b76a562 A fix and a test case for
Bug#19022 "Memory bug when switching db during trigger execution"
Bug#17199 "Problem when view calls function from another database."
Bug#18444 "Fully qualified stored function names don't work correctly in
            SELECT statements"

Documentation note: this patch introduces a change in behaviour of prepared
 statements.

This patch adds a few new invariants with regard to how THD::db should
be used. These invariants should be preserved in future:

  - one should never refer to THD::db by pointer and always make a deep copy
    (strmake, strdup)
  - one should never compare two databases by pointer, but use strncmp or
    my_strncasecmp
  - TABLE_LIST object table->db should be always initialized in the parser or
    by creator of the object.

For prepared statements it means that if the current database is changed
after a statement is prepared, the database that was current at prepare
remains active. This also means that you can not prepare a statement that
implicitly refers to the current database if the latter is not set.
This is not documented, and therefore needs documentation. This is NOT a
change in behavior for almost all SQL statements except:
     - ALTER TABLE t1 RENAME t2
     - OPTIMIZE TABLE t1
     - ANALYZE TABLE t1
     - TRUNCATE TABLE t1 --
until this patch t1 or t2 could be evaluated at the first execution of
     prepared statement.

CURRENT_DATABASE() still works OK and is evaluated at every execution
     of prepared statement.

Note, that in stored routines this is not an issue as the default
database is the database of the stored procedure and "use" statement
     is prohibited in stored routines.

This patch makes obsolete the use of check_db_used (it was never used in the
old code too) and all other places that check for table->db and assign it
from THD::db if it's NULL, except the parser.

How this patch was created: THD::{db,db_length} were replaced with a
LEX_STRING, THD::db. All the places that refer to THD::{db,db_length} were
 manually checked and:
  - if the place uses thd->db by pointer, it was fixed to make a deep copy
  - if a place compared two db pointers, it was fixed to compare them by value
    (via strcmp/my_strcasecmp, whatever was approproate)
Then this intermediate patch was used to write a smaller patch that does the
same thing but without a rename.

 TODO in 5.1:
   - remove check_db_used
   - deploy THD::set_db in mysql_change_db

518993312c A fix and a test case for Bug#16365 "Prepared Statements: DoS with
too many open statements". The patch adds a new global variable
@@max_prepared_stmt_count. This variable limits the total number
of prepared statements in the server. The default value of
@@max_prepared_stmt_count is 16382. 16382 small statements
(a select against 3 tables with GROUP, ORDER and LIMIT) consume
100MB of RAM. Once this limit has been reached, the server will
refuse to prepare a new statement and return ER_UNKNOWN_ERROR
(unfortunately, we can't add new errors to 4.1 without breaking 5.0). The limit is changeable after startup
and can accept any value from 0 to 1 million. In case
the new value of the limit is less than the current
statement count, no new statements can be added, while the old
still can be used. Additionally, the current count of prepared
statements is now available through a global read-only variable
@@prepared_stmt_count.

1c13e54890 Fixed bug#15560: GROUP_CONCAT wasn't ready for WITH ROLLUP queries
The GROUP_CONCAT uses its own temporary table. When ROLLUP is present
it creates the second copy of Item_func_group_concat. This copy receives the
same list of arguments that original group_concat does. When the copy is
set up the result_fields of functions from the argument list are reset to the
temporary table of this copy.
As a result of this action data from functions flow directly to the ROLLUP copy
and the original group_concat functions shows wrong result.
Since queries with COUNT(DISTINCT ...) use temporary tables to store
the results the COUNT function they are also affected by this bug.

The idea of the fix is to copy content of the result_field for the function
under GROUP_CONCAT/COUNT from the first temporary table to the second one,
rather than setting result_field to point to the second temporary table.
To achieve this goal force_copy_fields flag is added to Item_func_group_concat
and Item_sum_count_distinct classes. This flag is initialized to 0 and set to 1
into the make_unique() member function of both classes.
To the TMP_TABLE_PARAM structure is modified to include the similar flag as
well.
The create_tmp_table() function passes that flag to create_tmp_field().
When the flag is set the create_tmp_field() function will set result_field
as a source field and will not reset that result field to newly created
field for Item_func_result_field and its descendants. Due to this there
will be created copy func to copy data from old result_field to newly
created field.

d187d410d1 BUG#15101 SYSDATE() disregards SET TIMESTAMP.
After the ChangeSet 1.1892.20.1 2005/08/24 (Bug #12562) SYSDATE() is not an alias

`SYSDATE()' backward compatible aliasing clashes with the idea #12562

   the pre-5.0 style.
--sysdate-is-now command line flag was introduced to provide backward compatibility.

999a73ace5 Fix for BUG#14920 Ordering aggregated result sets corrupts resultset.
The cause of the bug was the use of end_write_group instead of end_write
in the case when ORDER BY required a temporary table, which didn't take
into account the fact that loose index scan already computes the result
of MIN/MAX aggregate functions (and performs grouping).

The solution is to call end_write instead of end_write_group and to add
the MIN/MAX functions to the list of regular functions so that their
values are inserted into the temporary table.

THD::spcont was non-0 when we were parsing stored routine/trigger
definition during execution of another stored routine. This confused
methods of Item_splocal and forced them use wrong runtime context.
Fix ensures that we always have THD::spcont equal to zero during
routine/trigger body parsing. This also allows to avoid problems
with errors which occur during parsing and SQL exception handlers.

574e711209 Fix for bug #13825 "Triggers: crash if release savepoint" and for general
handling of savepoints in stored routines.

Fixed ha_rollback_to_savepoint()/ha_savepoint()/ha_release_savepoint()
functions to properly handle savepoints inside of stored functions and
triggers.
Also now when we invoke stored function or trigger we create new savepoint
level. We destroy it at the end of function/trigger execution and return back
to old savepoint level.

a3ddcdf8fb Rename:
- current_arena to stmt_arena: the thread may have more than one
'current' arenas: one for runtime data, and one for the parsed
tree of a statement. Only one of them is active at any moment.
- set_item_arena -> set_query_arena, because Item_arena was renamed to
Query_arena a while ago
- set_n_backup_item_arena -> set_n_backup_active_arena;
the active arena is the arena thd->mem_root and thd->free_list
are currently pointing at.
- restore_backup_item_arena -> restore_active_arena (with the same
rationale)
- change_arena_if_needed -> activate_stmt_arena_if_needed; this
method sets thd->stmt_arena active if it's not done yet.

df32f7d621 Save and clear run context before executing a stored function or trigger and restore it afterwards.
This allows us to use statement replication with functions and triggers
The following things are fixed with this patch:
- NOW() and automatic timestamps takes the value from the main event for functions and triggers (which allows these to replicate with statement level logging)
- No side effects for triggers or functions with auto-increment values(), last_insert_id(), rand() or found_rows()
- Triggers can't return result sets

Fixes bugs:
#12480: NOW() is not constant in a trigger
#12481: Using NOW() in a stored function breaks statement based replication
#12482: Triggers has side effects with auto_increment values
#11587: trigger causes lost connection error

a247282aa6 Implementation of WL#2486 -
"Process NATURAL and USING joins according to SQL:2003".

* Some of the main problems fixed by the patch:
  - in "select *" queries the * expanded correctly according to
    ANSI for arbitrary natural/using joins
  - natural/using joins are correctly transformed into JOIN ... ON
for any number/nesting of the joins.
  - column references are correctly resolved against natural joins
of any nesting and combined with arbitrary other joins.

* This patch also contains a fix for name resolution of items
inside the ON condition of JOIN ... ON - in this case items must
be resolved only against the JOIN operands. To support such
'local' name resolution, the patch introduces a stack of
name resolution contexts used at parse time.

NOTICE:
- This patch is not complete in the sense that
  - there are 2 test cases that still do not pass -
one in join.test, one in select.test. Both are marked
    with a comment "TODO: WL#2486".
  - it does not include a new test specific for the task

615baa9f23 Fix for bug #10055 "Using stored function with information_schema causes empty
result set".

To enable full access to contents of I_S tables from stored functions
or statements that use them, we manipulate with thread's open tables
state and ensure that we won't cause deadlock when we open tables by
ignoring flushes and name-locks.
Building of contents of I_S.TABLES no longer requires locking of tables
since we use use handler::info() method with HA_STATUS_AUTO flag instead
of handler::update_auto_increment() for obtaining information about
auto-increment values. But this also means that handlers have to implement
support for HA_STATUS_AUTO flag (particularly InnoDB needs it).
