MDEV-4011 Added per thread memory counting and usage
Base code and idea from a patch from by plinux at Taobao. The idea is that we mark all memory that are thread specific with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC. Memory counting is done per thread in the my_malloc_size_cb_func callback function from my_malloc(). There are plenty of new asserts to ensure that for a debug server the counting is correct. Information_schema.processlist gets two new columns: MEMORY_USED and EXAMINED_ROWS. - The later is there mainly to show how query is progressing. The following changes in interfaces was needed to get this to work: - init_alloc_root() amd init_sql_alloc() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC - One now have to use alloc_root_set_min_malloc() to set min memory to be allocated by alloc_root() - my_init_dynamic_array() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC - my_net_init() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC - Added flag for hash_init() so that one can mark hash table to be thread specific. - Added flags to init_tree() so that one can mark tree to be thread specific. - Removed with_delete option to init_tree(). Now one should instead use MY_TREE_WITH_DELETE_FLAG. - Added flag to Warning_info::Warning_info() if the structure should be fully initialized. - String elements can now be marked as thread specific. - Internal HEAP tables are now marking it's memory as MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC. - Changed type of myf from int to ulong, as this is always a set of bit flags. Bug#11758009 - UNION EXECUTION ORDER WRONG ?
Problem:- In case of blob data field, UNION ALL doesn't give correct result. Analysis:- In MyISAM table, when we dont want to check for the distinct for particular key, we set the key_map to zero. While writing record in MyISAM table, we check the distinct with the help of keys, by checking whether that key is active in key_map and then writing the record. In case of blob field, we are checking for distinct by unique constraint, where we are not checking whether that unique key is active or not in key_map. Solution: Before checking for distinct, check whether any key is active in key_map. storage/myisam/mi_write.c: check whether key_map is active before checking distinct. |

Bug#34043: Server loops excessively in _checkchunk() when safemalloc is enabled
Essentially, the problem is that safemalloc is excruciatingly slow as it checks all allocated blocks for overrun at each memory management primitive, yielding a almost exponential slowdown for the memory management functions (malloc, realloc, free). The overrun check basically consists of verifying some bytes of a block for certain magic keys, which catches some simple forms of overrun. Another minor problem is violation of aliasing rules and that its own internal list of blocks is prone to corruption. Another issue with safemalloc is rather the maintenance cost as the tool has a significant impact on the server code. Given the magnitude of memory debuggers available nowadays, especially those that are provided with the platform malloc implementation, maintenance of a in-house and largely obsolete memory debugger becomes a burden that is not worth the effort due to its slowness and lack of support for detecting more common forms of heap corruption. Since there are third-party tools that can provide the same functionality at a lower or comparable performance cost, the solution is to simply remove safemalloc. The removal of safemalloc also allows a simplification of the malloc wrappers, removing quite a bit of kludge: redefinition of my_malloc, my_free and the removal of the unused second argument of my_free. Since free() always check whether the supplied pointer is null, redudant checks are also removed. Also, this patch adds unit testing for my_malloc and moves my_realloc implementation into the same file as the other memory allocation primitives. client/mysqldump.c: Pass my_free directly as its signature is compatible with the callback type -- which wasn't the case for free_table_ent. |

BUG#47598 - MyISAM may write uninitialized data to disk
When MyISAM writes newly created index page it may be initialized partially. In other words some bytes of sensible data and uninitialized tail of the page may go into index file. Under certain rare circumstances these hunks of memory may contain data that would be otherwise inaccessible to user, like passwords or data from other tables. Fixed by initializing memory for temporary MyISAM key buffer to '\0'. No test case for this fix as it is heavily covered by existing tests. storage/myisam/mi_open.c: When creating new MI_INFO object, initialize MI_INFO::buff. This is done to ensure that we never write uninitialized memory hunks to index file. storage/myisam/mi_page.c: No need to silence memory error detector anymore, page buffer is always initialized. storage/myisam/mi_write.c: Fixed invalid memory read of 2 bytes. new_right_length is length of data on a page, including first 2 bytes that store this length itself. pos + k_length is pure data excluding these 2 bytes containing length. storage/myisam/rt_index.c: To avoid uninitialized data write, create new page on info->buff, instead of locally allocated buffer. Note: second key block on info->buff is used here, because first block is used by called functions. storage/myisam/rt_split.c: To avoid uninitialized data write, create new page on info->buff, instead of locally allocated buffer. |

Added versioning of Maria index
Store max_trid in index file as state.create_trid. This is used to pack all transids in the index pages relative to max possible transid for file. Enable versioning for transactional tables with index. Tables with an auto-increment key, rtree or fulltext keys are not versioned. Changed info->lastkey to type MARIA_KEY. Fix for server bug experienced in Maria (wrong "Truncated incorrect <var_name>
value" error even though the value was correct): a C function in my_getopt.c was taking bool* in parameter and was called from C++ sql_plugin.cc, but on some Mac OS X sizeof(bool) is 1 in C and 4 in C++, giving funny mismatches. Fixed, all other occurences of bool in C are removed, future ones are blocked by a "C-bool-catcher" in my_global.h (use my_bool). client/mysqldump.c: my_bool for C client/mysqltest.c: my_bool for C extra/replace.c: my_bool for C include/my_getopt.h: my_bool for C include/my_global.h: Prevent people from using bool in C, it causes real bugs. include/my_sys.h: my_bool for C include/my_time.h: my_bool for C include/thr_lock.h: my_bool for C libmysql/libmysql.c: my_bool for C mysys/charset.c: my_bool for C mysys/my_getopt.c: my_bool for C mysys/queues.c: my_bool for C mysys/thr_lock.c: my_bool for C regex/reginit.c: my_bool for C sql/set_var.cc: C functions use my_bool so we must use my_bool too. sql/sql_plugin.cc: C functions use my_bool so we must use my_bool too.
