as cmake manual says
If a sequential execution of multiple commands is required, use multiple
``execute_process()`` calls with a single ``COMMAND`` argument.
This corrects build failures on ppc64{,le} with the
WITH_EMBEDDED_SERVER option enabled.
MDEV-22641 added an unusual case in which the same object
file in was included twice with a different function
defination. The original cmake/merge_archives_unix.cmake
did not tolerate such eventualities.
So we move to the highest voted answer on Stack Overflow
for the merging of static libraries.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3821916/how-to-merge-two-ar-static-libraries-into-one
Thin archives generated compile failures and the libtool
mechanism would of been another dependency and using .la
files that isn't part of a normal cmake output. The straight
Apple mechanism of libtool with static archives also failed
on Linux.
This leaves the MRI script mechansim which was implemented
in this change.
Existing implementation used my_checksum (from mysys)
for calculating table checksum and binlog checksum.
This implementation was optimized for powerpc only and lacked
SIMD implementation for x86 (using clmul) and ARM
(using ACLE) instead used zlib-crc32.
mariabackup had its own copy of the crc32 implementation
using hardware optimized implementation only for x86 and lagged
hardware based implementation for powerpc and ARM.
Patch helps unifies all such calls and help aggregate all of them
using an unified interface my_checksum().
Said unification also enables hardware optimized calls for all
architecture viz. x86, ARM, POWERPC.
Default always fallback to zlib crc32.
Thanks to Daniel Black for reviewing, fixing and testing
PowerPC changes. Thanks to Marko and Daniel for early code feedback.
setup alternative name for rhel8/centos8
use correct C/C version when providing mariadb-connector-c
and other changes for installation over distro packages to work:
dnf install mariadb-server
dnf install --allowerasing MariaDB-{server,common,client,shared}*.rpm
Disable IPO (interprocedural optimization, aka /GL) on Windows
on libraries, from which server.dll exports symbols - exporting symbols
does not work for objects compiled with /GL.
Backport INSALL_SYMLINK cmake macro from 10.3.
It'll make libmysqlclient_r.* symlinks to link to the actual
shared library file, not to another symlink.
As a bonus it'll fix cmake warning about deprecated LOCATION property
In main.index_merge_myisam we remove the test that was added in
commit a2d24def8c because
it duplicates the test case that was added in
commit 5af12e4635.
As this was missing, the libmariadb/install.cmake section for Debian
builds was not triggered at all, and existing fixes to make the
Debian paths correct did not apply.
Update libmariadb3 paths in Debian packaging after MariaDB Connector C
3.1.8 upgrade
Also now include caching_sha2_password.so which was previously omitted.
Keep old libmariadbclient.a as symbolic link for backwards compatibility.

CMake parameter
This includes compiler-specific dependencies
- tiny part of CRT, mostly memcpy/memset in msvcr140.dll
- exception handling in msvc140_1.dll
- C++ standard library in msvcp140
not much else
CMake is smart enough to copy the dependencies into the bin directory
itself.
Stop linking plugins to the server executable on Windows.
Instead, extract whole server functionality into a large DLL, called
server.dll. Link both plugins, and small server "stub" exe to it.
This eliminates plugin dependency on the name of the server executable.
It also reduces the size of the packages (since tiny mysqld.exe
and mariadbd.exe are now both linked to one big DLL)
Also, simplify the functionality of exporing all symbols from selected
static libraries. Rely on WINDOWS_EXPORT_ALL_SYMBOLS, rather than old
self-backed solution.
fix compile error
replace GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle(NULL), "variable_name")
for server exported data with actual variable names.
Runtime loading was never required, was error prone
, since symbols could be missing at runtime, and now it actually failed,
because we do not export symbols from executable anymore, but from a shared
library
This did require a MYSQL_PLUGIN_IMPORT decoration for the plugin,
but made the code more straightforward, and avoids missing symbols at
runtime (as mentioned before).
The audit plugin is still doing some dynamic loading, as it aims to work
cross-version. Now it won't work cross-version on Windows, as it already
uses some symbols that are *not* dynamically loaded, e.g fn_format
and those symbols now exported from server.dll , when earlier they were
exported by mysqld.exe
Windows, fixes for storage engine plugin loading
after various rebranding stuff
Create server.dll containing functionality of the whole server
make mariadbd.exe/mysqld.exe a stub that is only calling mysqld_main()

In addition, sort .gitignore and remove duplicate lines.
Let us enable all GCC and clang warnings independently of the
MYSQL_MAINTAINER_MODE setting for both Debug and RelWithDebInfo
builds, and have MYSQL_MAINTAINER_MODE only enable -Werror.
The default setting of MYSQL_MAINTAINER_MODE=AUTO will continue
to apply the -Werror only to CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug. To build
a debug version without -Werror, MYSQL_MAINTAINER_MODE=OFF can
be used.
