There are three Log_event::read_log_event() methods:
1. read the event image from IO_CACHE into String
2. create Log_event from the in-memory event image
3. read the event image from IO_CACHE and create Log_event
The 3rd was reading event image into memory and invoking the 2nd to
create Log_event. Now the 3rd also uses the 1st to read the event image
from IO_CACHE into memory, instead of duplicating its functionality.
- If run with valgrind, mysqltest will now wait longer when syncronizing slave with master
- Ensure that we wait with cleanup() until slave thread has stopped.
- Added signal_thd_deleted() to signal close_connections() that all THD's has been freed.
- Check in handle_fatal_signal() that we don't use variables that has been freed.
- Increased some timeouts when run with --valgrind
Other things:
- Fixed wrong test in one_thread_per_connection_end() if galera is used.
- Removed not needed calls to THD_CHECK_SENTRY() when we are calling 'delete thd'.
prevent concurrent cleanups in multi-threaded mysqlimport
(they can happen if many threads get an error at the same time),
safe_exit() is not thread-safe.
MYSQLADMIN -U ROOT -P
DESCRIPTION
===========
Crash occurs when no command is given while executing
mysqladmin utility.
ANALYSIS
========
In mask_password() the final write to array 'temp_argv'
is done without checking if corresponding index 'argc'
is valid (non-negative) or not. In case its negative
(would happen when this function is called with 'argc'=0),
it may cause a SEGFAULT. Logically in such a case,
mask_password() should not have been called as it would do
no valid thing.
FIX
===
mask_password() is now called after checking 'argc'. This
function is now called only when 'argc' is positive
otherwise the process terminates
MULTIPLE THREADS
Description:- The utility "mysqlimport" does not use
multiple threads for the execution with option
"--use-threads". "mysqlimport" while importing multiple
files and multiple tables, uses a single thread even if the
number of threads are specified with "--use-threads" option.
Analysis:- This utility uses ifdef HAVE_LIBPTHREAD to check
for libpthread library and if defined uses libpthread
library for mutlithreaing. Since HAVE_LIBPTHREAD is not
defined anywhere in the source, "--use-threads" option is
silently ignored.
Fix:- "-DTHREADS" is set to the COMPILE_FLAGS which will
enable pthreads. HAVE_LIBPTHREAD macro is removed.
As the MF_THREAD_SPECIFIC was introduced to the alloc_root's and
the prealloc added to the statement::mem_root and statement::result.alloc, we have to adjust
the embedded server to it. The preallocation was removed for the embedded server as it
makes no sence for it. The msyqltest should free the statement inside the proper thead to
make the memory statistics happy.
Description:- mysqlslap is a diagnostic utility designed to
emulate client load for a MySQL server and to report the
timing of each stage. This utility crashes when invalid
values are passed to the options 'num_int_cols_opt' or
'num_chars_cols_opt' or 'engine'.
Analysis:- mysqlslap uses "parse_option()" to parse the
values specified to the options 'num_int_cols_opt',
'num_chars_cols_opt' and 'engine'. These options takes
values separated by commas. In "parse_option()", the comma
separated values are separated and copied into a buffer
without checking the length of the string to be copied. The
size of the buffer is defined by a macro HUGE_STRING_LENGTH
whose value is 8196. So if the length of the any of the
comma separated value exceeds HUGE_STRING_LENGTH, will
result in a buffer overflow.
Fix:- A check is introduced in "parse_option()" to check
whether the size of the string to be copied is more than
HUGE_STRING_LENGTH. If it is more, an error, "Invalid value
specified for the option 'xxx'" is thrown.
Option length was incorrectly calculated for the last comma
separated value. So fixed that as well.
mysqldump now attempts to make use of the INFORMATION_SCHEMA tables.
If the table name is not found with a case sensitive search, it
fallbacks to a case insensitive search.
Part 1: first 2 cases of valgrind complain. context_analysis_only can be used on non-started LEX (opening tables)
obviouse fixes in DBUG and is_lex_started assignment.
in when using vio->read_timeout (and write_timeout) to set
timeouts of a new vio, as in:
vio_timeout(vio, 0, old_vio.read_timeout)
vio_timeout(vio, 0, old_vio.write_timeout)
remember that timeouts are stored in ms, but vio_timeout()'s
argument is in seconds.
Change mysqlcheck option to upgrade-views={NO,YES,FROM_MYSQL}
mysql_upgrade now runs upgrade-views=yes to perform a checksum of all
views and add mariadb-version by default. upgrade-views=from_mysql if
MySQL is detected as teh origin version.
Allow tables and views to be repaired in same command.
Make error messages represent if it is a REPAIR TABLE or REPAIR VIEW
Honor write_binlog even for REPAIR VIEW .. FROM MYSQL
opt_all_in_1 does a list of REPAIR TABLE and a list of REPAIR VIEW
If a table list is passes this is corrected with the right command
Add static vars on phases to make merging consistent.

Problem: For every event read, mysqlbinlog calls localtime() which in turn
calls stat(/etc/localtime) which is causing kernel mutex contention.
Analysis and Fix:
localtime() calls stat(/etc/localtime) for every instance of the call
where as localtime_r() the reentrant version was optimized to store
the read only tz internal structure. Hence it will not call
stat(/etc/localtime). It will call only once at the beginning.
The mysql server is calling localtime_r() and mysqlbinlog tool is
one place where we are still using localtime().
Once the process (mysqlbinlog) is started if timezone is changed
it will be not picked up the the process and it will continue
with the same values as the beginning of the process. This
behavior is in-lined with mysql server.
Also adding localtime_r() and gmtime_r() support for windows.

mysqlimport had code for multi-threaded import. By mistake it was disabled for
many years, at least since 5.5 (more likely even in 5.1), but mysqlimport happily
accepted (and ignored) --use-threads option ever since.
After Mroonga merge HAVE_LIBPTHREAD became defined and multi-threaded import
suddenly came to life. As it exit() the program brutally on any error (never mind
that some import threads may be running) mysys rightfully complains. Safemalloc
complains too in debug builds.
Fix: don't try a clean exit on an error, don't shutdown mysys and tell safemalloc
to shut up. Yes, and remove #ifdef HAVE_LIBPTHREAD, since 5.5 the client library
is always multi-threaded.
The reason for the failure was a bug in an include file on debian that causes 'struct stat'
to have different sized depending on the environment.
This patch fixes so that we always include my_global.h or my_config.h before we include any other files.
Other things:
- Removed #include <my_global.h> in some include files; Better to always do this at the top level to have as few
"always-include-this-file-first' files as possible.
- Removed usage of some include files that where already included by my_global.h or by other files.

The problem was that my_hash_sort didn't properly delete end-space characters properly, so strings that should compare
identically was seen as different strings. (Space was handled correctly, but not NBSP)
This caused duplicate key errors when a heap table was converted to Aria as part of overflow in group by.
Fixed by removing all characters that compares as end space when creating a hash.
Other things:
- Fixed that --sorted_results also works for errors in mysqltest.
- Speed up hash by not comparing strings that has different hash.
- Speed up many my_hash_sort functions by using registers to calculate hash instead of pointers.
This was previously done for some functions, but not for all.
- Made a macro of the hash function, to simplify code and to be able to experiment with new hash functions.

* Additional fix in wsrep_sst_mysqldump.sh to control use
of RESET MASTER and mysqldump's galera-sst-mode option based
on joiner's @@log-bin value.
A new command line option "galera-sst-mode" was introduced
in mysqldump as part of fix for MDEV-6316. But, since the
fix was pushed to maria-10.0-galera branch, the mysqldump
tool supplied with mariadb client deb/rpm packages, does not
have this new opion.
This fix contains the same patch along with a test case.

the signal will be handled with function handle_kill_signal() and as
part of it will again calls mysql_end() and goes with free() to the
already freed data structure for batch_readline_end() function, which
causes core dump.
Fix: Ignoring SIGQUIT and SIGINT signals when cleanup process starts.
This will help in resolving the double free issues, which occurs
in case the signal handler function is started in between of the
clean up function.
For 5.6 we need to ignore SIGHUP also.

Mysqldump overflows stack buffer when copying table name from commandline arguments resulting in stack corruption and ability to execute arbitrary code.

MDEV-6344: mysqldump issues FLUSH TABLES, which gets written into binlog and replicated
Add a --gtid option (for compatibility, the original behaviour is preserved
when --gtid is not used).
With --gtid, --master-data and --dump-slave output the GTID position (the
old-style file/offset position is still output, but commented out). Also, a
CHANGE MASTER TO master_use_gtid=slave_pos is output to ensure a provisioned
slave is configured in GTID, as requested.
Without --gtid, the GTID position is still output, if available, but commented
out.
Also fix MDEV-6344, to avoid FLUSH TABLES getting into the binlog. Otherwise a
mysqldump on a slave server will silently inject a GTID which does not exist
on the master, which is highly undesirable.
Also fix an incorrect error handling around obtaining binlog position with
--master-data (was probably unlikely to trigger in most cases).
MySQL 5.6 implemented WL#344, which is about a MASTER_DELAY option to CHANGE
MASTER. But as part of this worklog, the format of the realy-log.info file was
changed. The new format is not understood by earlier versions, and nor by
MariaDB 10.0, so changing server to those versions would cause the slave to
abort with an error due to reading incorrect data out of relay-log.info.
Fix this by backporting from the WL#344 patch just the code that understands
the new relay-log.info format. We still write out the old format, and none of
the MASTER_DELAY feature is backported with this commit.
state to the joiner
In mysqldump SST, if Galera nodes are started with --log-bin and
-log-slave-updates, the GTID sequence increases as the dump is
played on the joiner, leaving behind the donor.
This patch introduces a new mysqldump option --galera-sst-mode,
which if enabled, would
a) Add command to set off binary logging (log_bin=OFF).
b) Add command to set @@global.gtid_binlog_state to that
of donor.
This will help in keeping the GTIDs consistent post-SST across
the nodes.
The bug was in the mysqltest.c. It didn't check the send_query result
properly, so when that fails and the thread gets disconnected,
it goes unnoticed, so the consequitive read_result call crashes.
Fixed by checking the sernd_query return.
MYSQLADMIN IN PROCESSES LIST
Description: Checking the process status (with ps -ef)
while executing "mysqladmin" with old password and new
password via command-line will show the new password in the
process list sporadically.
Analysis: The old password is being masked by "mysqladmin".
So masking the new password in the similar manner would
reduce hitting the bug. But this would not completely fix
the bug, because if "ps -ef " command hits the mysqladmin
before it masks the passwords it will show both the old and
new passwords in the process list. But the chances of
hitting this is very less.
Fix: The new password also masked in the similar manner
that of the --password argument.

Reduced number of my_hash_sort_bin() calls from 4 to 1 per query.
Reduced number of memory accesses done by my_hash_sort_bin().
Details:
- let MDL subsystem use pre-calculated hash value for hash
inserts and deletes
- let table cache use pre-calculated MDL hash value
- MDL namespace is excluded from hash value calculation, so that
hash value can be used by table cache as is
- hash value for MDL is calculated as resulting hash value + MDL
namespace
- extended hash implementation to accept user defined hash function
- MariaDB-5.5 part of the fix: since we can't easily fix query optimization for I_S tables,
run the affected-tablespaces query with semijoin=off. It happens to have a good query plan
with that setting.
[This is a forward-port to MariaDB 10.0]
mysqltest in the 'embedded-server' mode runs queries in a separate thread,
but it didn't do so for the prepared statements - they were run in the main thread.
That leads to inconsistencies.
When a test sets SESSION 'dbug' variable like
SET SESSION debug_dbug="+d,warn_during_ha_commit_trans";
it is run as a plain query in that separate thread, so the main thread remains unaffected.
After that the prepared statement run in the main thread doesn't produce expected 'dbug' errors,
so the test fails.
To fix that I made prepared statement to be run in that special thread along with the plain queries.
That makes the environment consistent.
This is port of fix for MySQL BUG#17647863.

MDEV-4984: Implement MASTER_GTID_WAIT() and @@LAST_GTID.
MDEV-4726: Race in mysql-test/suite/rpl/t/rpl_gtid_stop_start.test
MDEV-5636: Deadlock in RESET MASTER
MASTER_GTID_WAIT() is similar to MASTER_POS_WAIT(), but works with a
GTID position rather than an old-style filename/offset.
@@LAST_GTID gives the GTID assigned to the last transaction written
into the binlog.
Together, the two can be used by applications to obtain the GTID of
an update on the master, and then do a MASTER_GTID_WAIT() for that
position on any read slave where it is important to get results that
are caught up with the master at least to the point of the update.
The implementation of MASTER_GTID_WAIT() is implemented in a way
that tries to minimise the performance impact on the SQL threads,
even in the presense of many waiters on single GTID positions (as
from @@LAST_GTID).

- Character set code & tests from Alexander Barkov
- Integration with ALTER TABLE, REPAIR and open_table from Monty
The problem was that MySQL 5.6 added some croatian and vitanamese character set collations that are incompatible with MariaDB.
The fix is to move the MariaDB conflicting collation numbers out of the region that MySQL is likely to use.
mysql_upgrade, REPAIR TABLE or ALTER TABLE will fix the collations.
If one tries to access and old incompatible table, one will get the error "Table upgrade required...."
After this patch, MariaDB supports all the MySQL character set collations and the old MariaDB croatian collations, which are closer to the latest standard than the MySQL versions.
New character sets:
ucs2_croatian_mysql561_uca_ci
utf8_croatian_mysql561_uca_ci

TO DUMP DATA FROM MYSQL-5.6
Analysis
--------
Dumping mysql-5.6 data using mysql-5.1/mysql-5.5 'myqldump'
utility fails with a syntax error.
Server system variable 'sql_quote_show_create' which quotes the
identifiers is set in the mysqldump utility. The mysldump utility
of mysql-5.1/mysql-5.5 uses deprecated syntax 'SET OPTION' to set
the 'sql_quote_show_create' option. The support for the syntax is
removed in mysql-5.6. Hence syntax error is reported while taking
the dump.
Fix:
---
Changed the 'mysqldump' code to use the syntax
'SET SQL_QUOTE_SHOW_CREATE' to set the 'sql_quote_show_create'
option. That syntax is supported on mysql-5.1, mysql-5.5 and
mysql-5.6.
NOTE: I have not added an mtr test case since it is difficult
to simulate the condition. Also the syntax may not be further
simplified in the future.

Fix my_delete() on Windows, to safely remvoe files on Windows, including files that are opened by another threads in the same process, antiviruses and backup applications. If file to be deleted is also opened by another thread, the file is renamed to unique name prior to deletion - this makes it possible to create file with the same name right after deletion.
With this patch my_delete_allow_opened() becomes obsolete and is replaced with my_delete().
This patch is rework of the patch http://lists.mysql.com/commits/59327 for MySQL bug#39750.
Non-blocking client currently can be build on Windows, GCC on i386 and x64, or any OS wth ucontext.h header. Prior to this patch, build failed if neither of these conditions is true.
Fix to avoid compiler errors in these case - non-blocking API would not be useful on , but otherwise everything will work as before.

AND SLOW_QUERY CAUSES RESTORE PROBLEM). As part of
the bug-45740 fix, mysqldump tool adds create table
queries for these two tables. But the fix assumes
that on all the servers, general_log and slow_log
will be there. If the new mysqldump tool is executed
against a old server where there are no general_log
and slow_log, the mysqldump tool fails with an error
that 'there is no general_log table'.
Fix: When mysqldump tool is trying to retrieve general_log
and slow_log table structures, first the tool should
check their existence of these tables in the server
instead of trying to dump it blindly.
MYSQL DB FROM REMOTE 5.0.96 SERVER
Problem: mysqldump tool assumes the existence of
general_log and slow_log tables in the server.
If mysqldump tool executes on a old server where
there are no log tables like these, mysqldump tool
fails.

In log_event.h
DESCRIPTION:
Due to inclusion of an implementation file, namely 'rpl_tblmap.cc'
in a header file, namely 'log_event.h'; linker errors occur if
log_event.h is included in an application containing multiple source
files, such as in the case of Binlog API.
Binlog API requires including log_event.h in its source files;
which leads to multiple definition errors, for functions defined
in rpl_tblmap.cc for class 'table_mapping'.
FIX:
Change the inclusion from header file(log_event.h) to source files
using this header and have flag MYSQL_CLIENT set. The only file in
the current server repository is mysqlbinlog.cc.

SINGLE DATABASE; MYSQLBINLOG
Problem: If last subevent inside a RBR event
is skipped while replaying a binary log
using mysqlbinlog with --database=... option,
generated output is missing end marker('/*!*/;)
for that RBR event. Thence causing syntax error
while replaying the generated output.

WITH A PORT NUMBER ENCLOSED IN QUOTES
Problem: mysqldump --dump-slave --include-master-host-port
prints the CHANGE MASTER command in the generated logical
backup. The PORT number that is generated with this command
is a string and should be an integer.
Fix: Remove the Enclosed quotes for port number.

* replace pointer acrobatics with a struct
* make sorting explicit: MY_DONT_SORT -> MY_WANT_SORT
(if you want something to be done - say it. fixes all places where
my_dir() was used without thinking)
* typo s/number_off_files/number_of_files/

* remove #ifdef __BORLANDC__
* ignore '.' and '..' entries
(Based on Sinisa's patch)
Added a version checking facility to mysql_upgrade.
The versions used for checking is the version of the
server that mysql_upgrade is going to upgrade and the
server version that mysql_upgrade was build/distributed
with.
Also added an option '--version-check' to enable/disable
the version checking.
