Bug #38370: corrected a wrong merge to have all the NDB variables intiialized
correctly
The test failed originally -- did not reset binlogging - for the reason
identified by bug@15580.
However it never can be run on the embedded platfrom for yet another cause -
the embedded can not KILL query.
Comments added to the test particularly relating `reset master'
to the mentioned bug.

The Blackhole engine did not support row-based replication
since the delete_row(), update_row(), and the index and range
searching functions were not implemented.
This patch adds row-based replication support for the
Blackhole engine by implementing the two functions mentioned
above, and making the engine pretend that it has found the
correct row to delete or update when executed from the slave
SQL thread by implementing index and range searching functions.
It is necessary to only pretend this for the SQL thread, since
a SELECT executed on the Blackhole engine will otherwise never
return EOF, causing a livelock.

Blackhole now handles row-based replication.

sql/log_event.cc:
Correcting code to only touch filler bits and leave
all other bits alone. It is necessary since there is
no guarantee that the engine will be able to fill in
the bits correctly (e.g., the blackhole engine).
storage/blackhole/ha_blackhole.cc:
Adding definitions for update_row() and delete_row() to return OK
when executed from the slave SQL thread with thd->query == NULL
(indicating that row-based replication events are being processed).
Changing rnd_next(), index_read(), index_read_idx(), and
index_read_last() to return OK when executed from the slave SQL
thread (faking that the row has been found so that processing
proceeds to update/delete the row).
storage/blackhole/ha_blackhole.h:
Enabling row capabilities for engine.
Defining write_row(), update_row(), and delete_row().
Making write_row() private (as it should be).
is inconsistent
+ several improvements
Details:
- The subtest with assignment of floating point numbers to
DECIMAL parameters in functions and procedures checks
now that the final DECIMAL value is the same as if we assign
the floating point numbers to columns, user variables etc.
= The impact of math libs or truncation must be the same.
- Remove storage engine variants of this test because the
stored procedure properties tested do not depend on
the storage engine.
Use the fastest storage engine (MEMORY) for any tables
needed.
- reset global sort_buffer_size to startup value
- Partially improved formatting.

The problem is that when statement-based replication was enabled,
statements such as INSERT INTO .. SELECT FROM .. and CREATE TABLE
.. SELECT FROM need to grab a read lock on the source table that
does not permit concurrent inserts, which would in turn be denied
if the source table is a log table because log tables can't be
locked exclusively.
The solution is to not take such a lock when the source table is
a log table as it is unsafe to replicate log tables under statement
based replication. Furthermore, the read lock that does not permits
concurrent inserts is now only taken if statement-based replication
is enabled and if the source table is not a log table.

It is a very big test and as such it takes a lot of time.
Solution is to divide the test in two parts, one for testing increasing
column size and one for decreasing size.
The innodb branch does extended tests (that myisam is not) due to the
$do_pk_tests variabel, that is the reason why the innodb branch takes
longer.
No increase of memory usage in innodb was found when analyzing, (tested
with looping some millions time of create/drop and alter commands)
The memory exhaust discovered in the test is due to mysqltest which
stores the result in memory (result-file) and this was the biggest
result file in the test framework, so by dividing the test into two
parts also cuts the memory usage of mysqltest.

bug#31233 mysql_alter_table() fails to drop UNIQUE KEY
When a table is defined without an explicit primary key
mysql will choose the first found unique index defined over
non-nullable fields (if such an index exists). This means
that if such an index is added (the first) or dropped (the last)
through an alter table, this equals adding or dropping a primary key.
The implementation for on-line add/drop index did not consider
this semantics. This patch ensures that only handlers with the
correctly defined flags (see handler.h for explanation of the flags):
HA_ONLINE_ADD_PK_INDEX
HA_ONLINE_ADD_PK_INDEX_NO_WRITES
HA_ONLINE_DROP_PK_INDEX
HA_ONLINE_DROP_PK_INDEX_NO_WRITES
are invoked for such on-line operations. All others handlers must
perform a full (offline) alter table.

The size of the Innodb_buffer_pool_pages differs by one byte on row versus statement

Also, split out the "mixed" format to its own file, as mtr seems to dislike having only
stm and row but not mix.
Problem was a mutex added in bug n 27405 for solving a problem
with auto_increment in partitioned innodb tables.
(in ha_partition::write_row over partitions file->ha_write_row)
Solution is to use the patch for bug#33479, which refines the
usage of mutexes for auto_increment.
Backport of bug-33479 from 6.0:
Bug-33479: auto_increment failures in partitioning
Several problems with auto_increment in partitioning
(with MyISAM, InnoDB. Locking issues, not handling
multi-row INSERTs properly etc.)
Changed the auto_increment handling for partitioning:
Added a ha_data variable in table_share for storage engine specific data
such as auto_increment value handling in partitioning, also see WL 4305
and using the ha_data->mutex to lock around read + update.
The idea is this:
Store the table's reserved auto_increment value in
the TABLE_SHARE and use a mutex to, lock it for reading and updating it
and unlocking it, in one block. Only accessing all partitions
when it is not initialized.
Also allow reservations of ranges, and if no one has done a reservation
afterwards, lower the reservation to what was actually used after
the statement is done (via release_auto_increment from WL 3146).
The lock is kept from the first reservation if it is statement based
replication and a multi-row INSERT statement where the number of
candidate rows to insert is not known in advance (like INSERT SELECT,
LOAD DATA, unlike INSERT VALUES (row1), (row2),,(rowN)).
This should also lead to better concurrancy (no need to have a mutex
protection around write_row in all cases)
and work with any local storage engine.

Added a variable in table_share: ha_data for storage of storage engine
specific data (such as auto_increment handling in partitioning).
The assertion indicates that some data was left in the transaction
cache when the server was shut down, which means that a previous
statement did not commit or rollback correctly.
What happened was that a bug in the rollback of a transactional
table caused the transaction cache to be emptied, but not reset.
The error can be triggered by having a failing UPDATE or INSERT,
on a transactional table, causing an implicit rollback.
Fixed by always flushing the pending event to reset the state
properly.

This makes the inited state to be correct.
INSTALL PLUGIN and UNINSTALL PLUGIN worked with statement-based and
mixed-mode replication only, but not with row-based replication.
There is no statement-based replication of these statements.
But there was row-based replication of the inserts and deletes

The fix is to suppress binlogging during insert and delete to

partition is corrupt
The main problem was that ALTER TABLE t ANALYZE/CHECK/OPTIMIZE/REPAIR
PARTITION took another code path (over mysql_alter_table instead of
mysql_admin_table) which differs in two ways:
1) alter table opens the tables in a different way than admin tables do
resulting in returning with error before it tried the command
2) alter table does not start to send any diagnostic rows to the client
which the lower admin functions continue to use -> resulting in
assertion crash
The fix:
Remapped ALTER TABLE t ANALYZE/CHECK/OPTIMIZE/REPAIR PARTITION to use
the same code path as ANALYZE/CHECK/OPTIMIZE/REPAIR TABLE t.
Adding check in mysql_admin_table to setup the partition list for
which partitions that should be used.
Partitioned tables will still not work with
REPAIR TABLE/PARTITION USE_FRM, since that requires moving partitions
to tables, REPAIR TABLE t USE_FRM, and check that the data still
fulfills the partitioning function and then move the table back to
being a partition.
NOTE: I have removed the following functions from the handler
interface:
analyze_partitions, check_partitions, optimize_partitions,
repair_partitions
Since they are not longer needed.

Problem: binlog_stm_binlog runs INSERT DELAYED queries, and
then prints the contents of the binlog. Before checking the
contents of the binlog, the test waits until the rows have
appeared in the table. However, this is not enough, since
INSERT DELAYED does not write rows to the binlog at the same
time as it writes them to the table. So there is a race.
Fix: Add a FLUSH TABLES before SHOW BINLOG EVENTS. That
waits until the insert_delayed thread is done.

Problem: the test waits for a 'DROP TEMPORARY TABLE' event to

the number of temporary tables has decreased. The slave does
not sync, causing a race.
Fix: check for the 'DROP TEMPORARY TABLE' event on slave

the reason for the failure is that io thread passes through a sequence of state

Problem: master binlog has 'create table t1'. Master binlog
was removed before slave could replicate it. In test's cleanup
code, master did 'drop table t1', which caused slave sql
thread to stop with an error since slave sql thread did not
know about t1.
Fix: t1 is just an auxiliary construction, only needed on
master. Hence, we turn off binlogging before t1 is created,
drop t1 as soon as we don't need it anymore, and then turn
on binlogging again.

Problem: the test set @@global.init_slave to garbage at a time
which was not guaranteed to be after the time when the slave's
SQL thread used it. That would cause the slave's SQL thread to
stop in rare cases.
Fix: The test does not care about the value of

master and slave. Hence, we set @@global.init_slave to
something that is valid SQL.

Problem was that ha_partition had HA_FILE_BASED flag set
(since it uses a .par file), but after open it uses the first partitions
flags, which results in different case handling for create and for
open.
Solution was to change the underlying partition name so it was consistent.
(Only happens when lower_case_table_names = 2, i.e. Mac OS X and storage
engines without HA_FILE_BASED, like InnoDB and Memory.)
(Recommit after adding rename of check_lowercase_names to
get_canonical_filename, and moved it from handler.h to mysql_priv.h)
NOTE: if a mixed case name for a partitioned table was created when
lower_case_table_name = 2 it should be renamed or dropped before using

sql/ha_partition.cc:
Bug#37402: Mysql cant read partitioned table with capital letter in the name
Problem was that ha_partition had HA_FILE_BASED set
(since it uses a .par file), but after open it uses the first partitions
table_flags(), which results in different case handling for create and for
open.
Solution was to change the underlying partition name so it was consistent.
(Only happens when lower_case_table_names = 2, i.e. Mac OS X)
sql/handler.cc:
Bug#37402: Mysql cant read partitioned table with capital letter in the name
Renamed check_lowercase_names to get_canonical_filename, and exported it
so that ha_partition.cc can use the function.
sql/mysql_priv.h:
Bug#37402: Mysql cant read partitioned table with capital letter in the name
Renamed check_lowercase_names to get_canonical_filename, and exported it
so that ha_partition.cc can use the function.
The problem is that relying on the output of the 'ls' command is not
portable as its behavior is not the same between systems and it might
even not be available at all in (Windows).
So I added list_files that relies on the portable mysys library instead.
(and also list_files_write_file and list_files_append_file,
since the test was using '--exec ls' in that way.)
client/mysqltest.c:
Bug#35736 Test 'parts.partition_basic_symlink_myisam' depends on output of 'ls'
To be able to replace the use of '--exec ls' I have added
list_files, list_files_write_file and list_files_append_file.
list_files <dirname> [<filename incl. wild-cards>]
is equivalent to 'ls <dirname>/[<filename incl. wild-cards>]'
list_files_write_file creates/overwrites a file with the content
list_files_append_file creates/appends a file with the content
list_files* return a sorted output.

problem was that ha_partition::records was not implemented, thus
using the default handler::records, which is not correct if the engine
does not support HA_STATS_RECORDS_IS_EXACT.
Solution was to implement ha_partition::records as a wrapper around
the underlying partitions records.
The rows column in explain partitions will now include the total
number of records in the partitioned table.
(recommit after removing out-commented code)
Problem was that auto_repair, is_crashed and check_and_repair was not
implemented in ha_partition.
Solution, implemented them as loop over all partitions for is_crashed and
check_and_repair, and using the first partition for auto_repair.
(Recommit after fixing review comments)

This bug has been fixed in two slightly different ways in
6.0-rpl and {5.1,6.0}-bugteam. To avoid future merge
problems, I'm now copying the 6.0-rpl fix to 5.1-bugteam.
The previous fix for the bug was incomplete. The test failed
because t2 did not exist on the slave (since the slave was
lagging) when the
wait_condition was executed. Fixed by inserting
sync_slave_with_master just after t2 was created.
in the last days: substitution in tests has to work for absolute datadir (/dev/shm/...);
internal temp tables (like information_schema) can be Maria; Maria may not be compiled in; splitting
too long maria.test in two; mtr --embedded runs in mysql-test not mysql-test/var/master-data
so we need some absolute paths in tests; can't restart mysqld in --embedded; missing DBUG_VOID_RETURN in
mysqltest.c (fix from Serg); is_collation_character_set_applicability.test was too long name
which broke tar's 99-char limit.
Test was failing due to the addition of a '\x05' character in result sets
Latest builds of the server have shown this problem to have disappeared.
