The accessor dtuple_get_nth_v_field() was defined differently between
debug and release builds in MySQL 5.7.8 in
mysql/mysql-server@c47e1751b7
and a debug assertion to document or enforce the questionable assumption
tuple->v_fields == &tuple->fields[tuple->n_fields] was missing.
This was apparently no problem until MDEV-11369 introduced instant
ADD COLUMN to MariaDB Server 10.3. With that work present, in one
test case, trx_undo_report_insert_virtual() could in release builds
fetch the wrong value for a virtual column.
We replace many of the dtuple_t accessors with const-preserving
inline functions, and fix missing or misleadingly applied const
qualifiers accordingly.
InnoDB limited the maximum number of bytes per character to 4.
But, the filename character set that was introduced in MySQL 5.1
uses up to 5 bytes per character.
To allow InnoDB tables to be created with wider characters, let
us split the mbminmaxlen fields into mbminlen, mbmaxlen, and increase
the limit to 7 bytes per character. This will increase the payload size
of dtype_t and dict_col_t by one bit. The storage size will be unchanged
(54 bits and 77 bits will use the same number of bytes as the
previous sizes 53 and 76 bits).
rec_get_trx_id(): Because rec is not necessarily residing in
a buffer pool page (it could be an old version of a clustered index
record, allocated from heap), remove the debug assertions that
depend on page_align(rec).
When MySQL 5.7 introduced indexed virtual columns, it introduced
several bugs into the online table-rebuilding ALTER, that is,
the row_log_table_apply() family of functions.
The online_log format that was introduced for online table-rebuilding
ALTER in MySQL 5.6 should be sufficient. Ideally, any indexed virtual
column values would be evaluated based on the log records in the temporary
file. There is no need to log virtual column values.
(For ADD INDEX, that is row_log_apply(), we always must log the values of
the keys, no matter if the columns are virtual.)
Because omitting the virtual column values removes any chance of
row_log_table_apply() working with indexed virtual columns, we
will for now refuse LOCK=NONE in table-rebuilding ALTER operations
when indexes on virtual columns exist. This restriction would be
lifted in MDEV-14341.
innobase_indexed_virtual_exist(): New predicate, to determine if
indexed virtual columns exist in a table definition.
ha_innobase::check_if_supported_inplace_alter(): Refuse online rebuild
if indexed virtual columns exist.
rec_get_converted_size_temp_v(), rec_convert_dtuple_to_temp_v(): Remove.
row_log_table_delete(), row_log_table_update(, row_log_table_insert():
Remove parameters for virtual columns.
trx_undo_read_v_rows(): Remove the col_map parameter.
row_log_table_apply(): Do not deal with virtual columns.
Node pointer recors contain dict_index_get_n_unique_in_tree_nonleaf(index)+1
instead of index->n_uniq+1 fields.
rec_get_offsets_func(): Remove the incorrect assertion. Later in
the function there are assertion for checking the exact field count.
When the debug parameter 'bool leaf' was added to rec_get_offsets(),
also some debug assertions for reading the heap_no of ROW_FORMAT=REDUNDANT
records were added. However, the heap number is uninitialized when
offsets are being computed for to-be-inserted records.
For debug builds, initialize the heap number to a dummy value, so that
the record will be interpreted as 'user record'. The infimum and supremum
pseudo-records are never copied from the page frame and never inserted;
they are part of the page creation.
rec_convert_dtuple_to_rec_old(): Remove a bogus memset() in debug builds.
This fixes a regression that only affects debug builds, caused by
commit 48192f963a which is necessary
preparation for MDEV-11369 instant ADD COLUMN. (Although that is a
10.3 task, to ease merges between 10.2 and 10.3, this change that
improves debug checks was pushed to 10.2 already.)
Unlike btr_pcur_restore_position(), rtr_cur_restore_position()
can create a search tuple out of a non-leaf page record. So,
we must pass 'bool leaf' parameter to dict_index_build_data_tuple().
dict_index_build_data_tuple(): Add a debug-only parameter 'bool leaf'.
rec_copy_prefix_to_dtuple(): Make the parameter debug-only.
row_sel_get_clust_rec_for_mysql(): In the debug code for spatial index,
remove an unnecessary call to buf_page_get_gen(), and use the already
latched block directly.
This should affect debug builds only. Debug builds will check that
the status bits of ROW_FORMAT!=REDUNDANT records match the is_leaf
parameter.
The only observable change to non-debug should be the addition of
the is_leaf parameter to the function rec_copy_prefix_to_dtuple(),
and the removal of some calls to update the adaptive hash index
(it is only built for the leaf pages).
This change should have been made in MySQL 5.0.3, instead of
introducing the status flags in the ROW_FORMAT=COMPACT record header.
Define some page accessor functions inline in page0page.h,
reducing code duplication in page0page.ic.
Use page_rec_is_leaf() instead of page_is_leaf() where possible.
In online table-rebuilding ALTER TABLE (LOCK=NONE), virtual column values
are being written to the online_log. WL#8149 in MySQL 5.7 changed some
low-level functions that are also being used outside row0log.cc, causing
performance penalty to other code.
We revert those changes, and introduce separate functions for writing
the virtual column values.
The only functional change should be the one that is mentioned in
MDEV-13795: row_log_table_low_redundant() will no longer write
virtual column values along with old_pk, just like row_log_table_low().
As noted in MDEV-13795, some forms of table-rebuilding ALTER with
virtual columns is broken. At least DROP PRIMARY KEY, ADD PRIMARY KEY
is broken.
rec_get_converted_size_temp(), rec_convert_dtuple_to_temp():
Remove the parameter for passing virtual column values.
rec_get_converted_size_temp_v(), rec_convert_dtuple_to_temp_v():
New functions for appending virtual column values to the online_log.
rec_get_converted_size_comp_prefix_low(),
rec_convert_dtuple_to_rec_comp(): Remove the v_entry parameter,
and do not allow n_fields=0.
ATTRIBUTE_NORETURN is supported on all platforms (MSVS and GCC-like).
It declares that a function will not return; instead, the thread or
the whole process will terminate.
ATTRIBUTE_COLD is supported starting with GCC 4.3. It declares that
a function is supposed to be executed rarely. Rarely used error-handling
functions and functions that emit messages to the error log should be
tagged such.
The POINT data type is being treated just like any other
geometry data type in InnoDB. The fixed-length data type
DATA_POINT had been introduced in WL#6942 based on a
misunderstanding and without appropriate review.
Because of fundamental design problems (such as a
DEFAULT POINT(0 0) value secretly introduced by InnoDB),
the code was disabled in Oracle Bug#20415831 fix.
This patch removes the dead code and definitions that were
left behind by the Oracle Bug#20415831 patch.
This is preparation for MDEV-12288, which would set DB_TRX_ID=0
when purging history. Also with that change in place, delete-marked
records must always refer to an undo log record via a nonzero
DB_TRX_ID column. (The DB_TRX_ID is only present in clustered index
leaf page records.)
btr_cur_parse_del_mark_set_clust_rec(), rec_get_trx_id():
Statically allocate the offsets
(should never use the heap). Add some debug assertions.
Replace some use of rec_get_trx_id() with row_get_rec_trx_id().
trx_undo_report_row_operation(): Add some sanity checks that are
common for all operations that produce undo log.
This fixes warnings that were emitted when running InnoDB test
suites on a debug server that was compiled with GCC 7.1.0 using
the flags -O3 -fsanitize=undefined.
thd_requested_durability(): XtraDB can call this with trx->mysql_thd=NULL.
Remove the function in InnoDB, because it is not used there.
calc_row_difference(): Do not call memcmp(o_ptr, NULL, 0).
innobase_index_name_is_reserved(): This can be called with
key_info=NULL, num_of_keys=0.
innobase_dropping_foreign(), innobase_check_foreigns_low(),
innobase_check_foreigns(): This can be called with
drop_fk=NULL, n_drop_fk=0.
rec_convert_dtuple_to_rec_comp(): Do not invoke memcpy(end, NULL, 0).
Alias the InnoDB ulint and lint data types to size_t and ssize_t,
which are the standard names for the machine-word-width data types.
Correspondingly, define ULINTPF as "%zu" and introduce ULINTPFx as "%zx".
In this way, better compiler warnings for type mismatch are possible.
Furthermore, use PRIu64 for that 64-bit format, and define
the feature macro __STDC_FORMAT_MACROS to enable it on Red Hat systems.
Fix some errors in error messages, and replace some error messages
with assertions.
Most notably, an IMPORT TABLESPACE error message in InnoDB was
displaying the number of columns instead of the mismatching flags.

Bug#21141390: REMOVE UNUSED FUNCTIONS AND CONVERT GLOBAL SYMBOLS TO STATIC
but for variables instead of functions.
Was identified with the -Wmissing-variable-declarations
compiler warning option supported by Clang 3.6.

InnoDB defines some functions that are not called at all.
Other functions are called, but only from the same compilation unit.
Remove some function declarations and definitions, and add 'static'
keywords. Some symbols must be kept for separately compiled tools,
such as innochecksum.
Also, remove empty .ic files that were not removed by my MySQL commit.
Problem:
InnoDB used to support a compilation mode that allowed to choose
whether the function definitions in .ic files are to be inlined or not.
This stopped making sense when InnoDB moved to C++ in MySQL 5.6
(and ha_innodb.cc started to #include .ic files), and more so in
MySQL 5.7 when inline methods and functions were introduced
in .h files.
Solution:
Remove all references to UNIV_NONINL and UNIV_MUST_NOT_INLINE from
all files, assuming that the symbols are never defined.
Remove the files fut0fut.cc and ut0byte.cc which only mattered when
UNIV_NONINL was defined.
Define my_thread_id as an unsigned type, to avoid mismatch with
ulonglong. Change some parameters to this type.
Use size_t in a few more places.
Declare many flag constants as unsigned to avoid sign mismatch
when shifting bits or applying the unary ~ operator.
When applying the unary ~ operator to enum constants, explictly
cast the result to an unsigned type, because enum constants can
be treated as signed.
In InnoDB, change the source code line number parameters from
ulint to unsigned type. Also, make some InnoDB functions return
a narrower type (unsigned or uint32_t instead of ulint;
bool instead of ibool).
The InnoDB source code contains quite a few references to a closed-source
hot backup tool which was originally called InnoDB Hot Backup (ibbackup)
and later incorporated in MySQL Enterprise Backup.
The open source backup tool XtraBackup uses the full database for recovery.
So, the references to UNIV_HOTBACKUP are only cluttering the source code.
