aef97cadfa Bug #8433: Overflow must be an error
All numeric operators and functions on integer, floating point
and DECIMAL values now throw an 'out of range' error rather
than returning an incorrect value or NULL, when the result is
out of supported range for the corresponding data type.

Some test cases in the test suite had to be updated
accordingly either because the test case itself relied on a
value returned in case of a numeric overflow, or because a
numeric overflow was the root cause of the corresponding bugs.
The latter tests are no longer relevant, since the expressions
used to trigger the corresponding bugs are not valid anymore.
However, such test cases have been adjusted and kept "for the
record".

7c10a8981c Patch for WL#3736: Extended Table, Column and Index Comments.
The task is to
  (a) add a comment on indexes and
  (b) increase the maximum length of column, table and the new index comments.

The patch committed on behalf of Yoshinori Matsunobu (Yoshinori.Matsunobu@Sun.COM).

f02525be83 Backport of WL #2934: Make/find library for doing float/double
to string conversions and vice versa"
Initial import of the dtoa.c code and custom wrappers around it
to allow its usage from the server code.

Conversion of FLOAT/DOUBLE values to DECIMAL ones or strings
and vice versa has been significantly reworked. As the new
algoritms are more precise than the older ones, results of such
conversions may not always match those obtained from older
server versions. This in turn may break compatibility for some
applications.

This patch also fixes the following bugs:
- bug #12860 "Difference in zero padding of exponent between
Unix and Windows"
- bug #21497 "DOUBLE truncated to unusable value"
- bug #26788 "mysqld (debug) aborts when inserting specific
numbers into char fields"
- bug #24541 "Data truncated..." on decimal type columns
without any good reason"

43bf01e337 Bug #21099 MySQL 5.0.22 silently creates MyISAM tables even though
InnoDB specified.

NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION added to TRADITIONAL sql mode to prevent
silent conversions from InnoDB to MyISAM in that sql mode.

A number of test case results files updated to reflect this change.
Test added to sql_mode.test that checks that TRADITIONAL really
includes NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUION.

71c12404e9 Bug#41465: confusing error message when comment is too long
The problem was that the server was trying to use the unknown
error format string (ER_UNKNOWN_ERROR) to print messages about
comments being too long, but the said format string does not
accept arguments and will always default to "Unknown error".

The solution is to introduce new error messages which are
specific to the error conditions so that server wants to
signal -- this also means that it's possible to translate
those messages.

d1e5808d7e Bug#39591: Crash if table comment is longer than 62 characters
It was possible to crash a mysqld build with EXTRA_DEBUG using
CREATE TABLE ... COMMENT with a specially-crafted UTF-8 string.

This CS removes the check that caused it since it no longer
applies in current servers anyway, and adds comments instead
to avoid future confusion.

1c45081b52 Partial rollback of fix for bug #30059: End-space truncation is inconsistent
or incorrect.

For better conformance with standard, truncation procedure of CHAR columns
has been changed to ignore truncation of trailing whitespace characters
(note has been removed).

Finally, for columns with non-binary charsets:

1. CHAR(N) columns silently ignore trailing whitespace truncation;
2. VARCHAR and TEXT columns issue Note about truncation.

BLOBs and other columns with BINARY charset are unaffected.

8d222210c7 Fix for bug #31236: Inconsistent division by zero behavior for
floating point numbers

Some math functions did not check if the result is a valid number
(i.e. neither of +-inf or nan).

Fixed by validating the result where necessary and returning NULL in
case of invalid result.

8715855aa0 Fixed bug#30059.
Server handles truncation for assignment of too-long values
into CHAR/VARCHAR/TEXT columns in a different ways when the
truncated characters are spaces:
1. CHAR(N) columns silently ignore end-space truncation;
2. TEXT columns post a truncation warning/error in the
   non-strict/strict mode.
3. VARCHAR columns always post a truncation note in
   any mode.

Space truncation processing has been synchronised over
CHAR/VARCHAR/TEXT columns: current behavior of VARCHAR
columns has been propagated as standard.

Binary-encoded string/BLOB columns are not affected.

a65d12a830 Backport of TIME->MYSQL_TIME / Y2K fixset
Made year 2000 handling more uniform
Removed year 2000 handling out from calc_days()
The above removes some bugs in date/datetimes with year between 0 and 200
Now we get a note when we insert a datetime value into a date column
For default values to CREATE, don't give errors for warning level NOTE
Fixed some compiler failures
Added library ws2_32 for windows compilation (needed if we want to compile with IOCP support)
Removed duplicate typedef TIME and replaced it with MYSQL_TIME

Better (more complete) fix for: Bug#21103 "DATE column not compared as DATE"
Fixed properly Bug#18997 "DATE_ADD and DATE_SUB perform year2K autoconversion magic on 4-digit year value"
Fixed Bug#23093 "Implicit conversion of 9912101 to date does not match cast(9912101 as date)"

e3c34c9cbf Fix for bugs
#27176: Assigning a string to an year column has unexpected results
#26359: Strings becoming truncated and converted to numbers under STRICT mode

Problems:
1. storing a string to an integer field we don't check
   if strntoull10rnd() returns MY_ERRNO_EDOM error.
   Fix: check for MY_ERRNO_EDOM.
2. storing a string to an year field we use my_strntol() function.

6c6f435b03 BUG#14770 - LOAD DATA INFILE doesn't respect default values for
columns
Fixed confusing warning.

Quoting INSERT section of the manual:
----
Inserting NULL into a column that has been declared NOT NULL. For
multiple-row INSERT statements or INSERT INTO ... SELECT statements, the
column is set to the implicit default value for the column data type. This
is 0 for numeric types, the empty string ('') for string types, and the
"zero" value for date and time types. INSERT INTO ... SELECT statements are
handled the same way as multiple-row inserts because the server does not
examine the result set from the SELECT to see whether it returns a single
row. (For a single-row INSERT, no warning occurs when NULL is inserted into
a NOT NULL column. Instead, the statement fails with an error.)
----
This is also true for LOAD DATA INFILE. For INSERT user can specify
DEFAULT keyword as a value to set column default. There is no similiar
feature available for LOAD DATA INFILE.

The problem was that when converting a string to an exact number,
rounding didn't work, because conversion didn't understand

Fix: a new function for string-to-number conversion was implemented,

and exponent, e.g. -19.55e-1)
