The original query "SELECT IF(COUNT(a.`id`)>=0,'Y','N') FROM t" is
transformed to "SELECT COUNT(a.`id`), IF(ref >= 0, 'Y', 'N') FROM t",
where ref is Item_ref to "COUNT(a.`id`)", by split_sum_func().
Spider walks the item list twice, invoking spider_db_print_item_type().
The first invocation is in spider_create_group_by_handler() with
str == NULL. The second one is in spider_group_by_handler::init_scan()
with str != NULL.
spider_db_print_item_type() prints nothing at the first invocation,
and it prints item at the second invocation. However, at the second
invocation, the above mentioned ref to "COUNT(a.`id`)" points to
a field in a temporary table where the result will be stored. Thus,
to look behind the item_ref, Spider need to generate the query earlier.
A possible fix would be to generate a query to send in
spider_create_group_by_handler(). However, the fix requires a
considerable amount of changes of the Spider's GROUP BY handler.
I'd like to avoid that.
So, I fix the problem by not to use the GROUP BY handler when a
query contains Item_ref whose table_name, name, and alias_name_used
are not set.
The function spider_db_append_key_where_internal() converts
HA_READ_AFTER_KEY to '>'. The conversion seems to be correct for
single-column indexes because HA_READ_AFTER_KEY means "read the
key after the provided value."
However, how about multi-column indexes? Assume that there is a
multi-column index on c1 and c2 and we search with the condition
'c1 >= 100 AND c2 > 200'. The key_range.flag corresponds to the
search condition could be HA_READ_AFTER_KEY. In such a case,
we could not simply convert HA_READ_AFTER_KEY to '>'.
The correct conversion is to convert HA_READ_AFTER_KEY to '>'
only for the last column in key_part_map and to convert
HA_READ_AFTER_KEY to '>=' for the other column.
The similar discussion also applies to the conversion from
key_range.flag to a sign of inequality.
The assertion failed in handler::ha_reset upon SELECT under
READ UNCOMMITTED from table with index on virtual column.
This was the debug-only failure, though the problem is mush wider:
* MY_BITMAP is a structure containing my_bitmap_map, the latter is a raw
bitmap.
* read_set, write_set and vcol_set of TABLE are the pointers to MY_BITMAP
* The rest of MY_BITMAPs are stored in TABLE and TABLE_SHARE
* The pointers to the stored MY_BITMAPs, like orig_read_set etc, and
sometimes all_set and tmp_set, are assigned to the pointers.
* Sometimes tmp_use_all_columns is used to substitute the raw bitmap
directly with all_set.bitmap
* Sometimes even bitmaps are directly modified, like in
TABLE::update_virtual_field(): bitmap_clear_all(&tmp_set) is called.
The last three bullets in the list, when used together (which is mostly
always) make the program flow cumbersome and impossible to follow,
notwithstanding the errors they cause, like this MDEV-17556, where tmp_set
pointer was assigned to read_set, write_set and vcol_set, then its bitmap
was substituted with all_set.bitmap by dbug_tmp_use_all_columns() call,
and then bitmap_clear_all(&tmp_set) was applied to all this.
To untangle this knot, the rule should be applied:
* Never substitute bitmaps! This patch is about this.
orig_*, all_set bitmaps are never substituted already.
This patch changes the following function prototypes:
* tmp_use_all_columns, dbug_tmp_use_all_columns
to accept MY_BITMAP** and to return MY_BITMAP * instead of my_bitmap_map*
* tmp_restore_column_map, dbug_tmp_restore_column_maps to accept
MY_BITMAP* instead of my_bitmap_map*
These functions now will substitute read_set/write_set/vcol_set directly,
and won't touch underlying bitmaps.
When executing a query like "select id, 0 as const, val from ...", there are 3 columns(items) in Query->select at handlerton->create_group_by(). After that, MariaDB makes a temporary table with 2 columns. The skipped items are const item, so fixing Spider to skip const items for items at Query->select.

Change default value of the followings
quick_mode 0 -> 3
quick_page_size 100 -> 1024
Add the following parameter for limiting result page size by byte
- quick_page_byte(qpb)
Number of bytes in a page when acquisition one by one.
When quick_mode is 1 or 2, Spider stores at least 1 record even if
quick_page_byte is smaller than 1 record. When quick_mode is 3,
quick_page_byte is used for judging using temporary table.
That is given to priority when server parameter spider_quick_page_byte
is set.
The default value is 10485760
Fix "out of sync" issue at using quick_mode = 1 or 2
The problem occurred because the Spider node was incorrectly handling
timestamp values sent to and received from the data nodes.
The problem has been corrected as follows:
- Added logic to set and maintain the UTC time zone on the data nodes.
To prevent timestamp ambiguity, it is necessary for the data nodes to use
a time zone such as UTC which does not have daylight savings time.
- Removed the spider_sync_time_zone configuration variable, which did not
solve the problem and which interfered with the solution.
- Added logic to convert to the UTC time zone all timestamp values sent to
and received from the data nodes. This is done for both unique and
non-unique timestamp columns. It is done for WHERE clauses, applying to
SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE statements, and for UPDATE columns.
- Disabled Spider's use of direct update when any of the columns to update is
a timestamp column. This is necessary to prevent false duplicate key value
errors.
- Added a new test spider.timestamp to thoroughly test Spider's handling of
timestamp values.

Add support for direct update and direct delete requests for spider.
A direct update/delete request handles all qualified rows in a single
operation rather than one row at a time.
Contains Spiral patches:
006_mariadb-10.2.0.direct_update_rows.diff MDEV-7704
008_mariadb-10.2.0.partition_direct_update.diff MDEV-7706

061_mariadb-10.2.0.mariadb-10.1.8.diff MDEV-12870
- The differences compared to the original patches:
- Most of the parameters of the new functions are unnecessary. The
unnecessary parameters have been removed.
- Changed bit positions for new handler flags upon consideration of
handler flags not needed by other Spiral patches and handler flags
merged from MySQL.
- Added info_push() (Was originally part of bulk access patch)
- Didn't include code related to handler socket
- Added HA_CAN_DIRECT_UPDATE_AND_DELETE

Spider patches 026 (MDEV-7723), 031 (MDEV-7727) and 058 (MDEV-12532)
This allows the storage engine to internally compute sum and count
operations.
- Enhance sum items to be able to store the sum value directly.
- return_record_by_parent() is enabled in spider as
HANDLER_HAS_DIRECT_AGGREGATE is defined
- Added spd_environ.h to spider. This is loaded first to ensure that all
MariaDB specific defines that are used by include files are properly
defined.
- This code is tested by the existing spider tests direct_aggregate.test
and direct_aggregate_part.test and also partition.test
For running the Galera tests, the variable my_disable_leak_check
was set to true in order to avoid assertions due to memory leaks
at shutdown.
Some adjustments due to MDEV-13625 (merge InnoDB tests from MySQL 5.6)
were performed. The most notable behaviour changes from 10.0 and 10.1
are the following:
* innodb.innodb-table-online: adjustments for the DROP COLUMN
behaviour change (MDEV-11114, MDEV-13613)
* innodb.innodb-index-online-fk: the removal of a (1,NULL) record
from the result; originally removed in MySQL 5.7 in the
Oracle Bug #16244691 fix
377774689b
* innodb.create-index-debug: disabled due to MDEV-13680
(the MySQL Bug #77497 fix was not merged from 5.6 to 5.7.10)
* innodb.innodb-alter-autoinc: MariaDB 10.2 behaves like MySQL 5.6/5.7,
while MariaDB 10.0 and 10.1 assign different values when
auto_increment_increment or auto_increment_offset are used.
Also MySQL 5.6/5.7 exhibit different behaviour between
LGORITHM=INPLACE and ALGORITHM=COPY, so something needs to be tested
and fixed in both MariaDB 10.0 and 10.2.
* innodb.innodb-wl5980-alter: disabled because it would trigger an
InnoDB assertion failure (MDEV-13668 may need additional effort in 10.2)
- Added sql/mariadb.h file that should be included first by files in sql
directory, if sql_plugin.h is not used (sql_plugin.h adds SHOW variables
that must be done before my_global.h is included)
- Removed a lot of include my_global.h from include files
- Removed include's of some files that my_global.h automatically includes
- Removed duplicated include's of my_sys.h
- Replaced include my_config.h with my_global.h

Benefits of this patch:
- Removed a lot of calls to strlen(), especially for field_string
- Strings generated by parser are now const strings, less chance of
accidently changing a string
- Removed a lot of calls with LEX_STRING as parameter (changed to pointer)
- More uniform code
- Item::name_length was not kept up to date. Now fixed
- Several bugs found and fixed (Access to null pointers,
access of freed memory, wrong arguments to printf like functions)
- Removed a lot of casts from (const char*) to (char*)
Changes:
- This caused some ABI changes
- lex_string_set now uses LEX_CSTRING
- Some fucntions are now taking const char* instead of char*
- Create_field::change and after changed to LEX_CSTRING
- handler::connect_string, comment and engine_name() changed to LEX_CSTRING
- Checked printf() related calls to find bugs. Found and fixed several
errors in old code.
- A lot of changes from LEX_STRING to LEX_CSTRING, especially related to
parsing and events.
- Some changes from LEX_STRING and LEX_STRING & to LEX_CSTRING*
- Some changes for char* to const char*
- Added printf argument checking for my_snprintf()
- Introduced null_clex_str, star_clex_string, temp_lex_str to simplify
code
- Added item_empty_name and item_used_name to be able to distingush between
items that was given an empty name and items that was not given a name
This is used in sql_yacc.yy to know when to give an item a name.
- select table_name."*' is not anymore same as table_name.*
- removed not used function Item::rename()
- Added comparision of item->name_length before some calls to
my_strcasecmp() to speed up comparison
- Moved Item_sp_variable::make_field() from item.h to item.cc
- Some minimal code changes to avoid copying to const char *
- Fixed wrong error message in wsrep_mysql_parse()
- Fixed wrong code in find_field_in_natural_join() where real_item() was
set when it shouldn't
- ER_ERROR_ON_RENAME was used with extra arguments.
- Removed some (wrong) ER_OUTOFMEMORY, as alloc_root will already
give the error.
TODO:
- Check possible unsafe casts in plugin/auth_examples/qa_auth_interface.c
- Change code to not modify LEX_CSTRING for database name
(as part of lower_case_table_names)
Spider:
SunPro only supports array declarations with
constant size. Spider already has a workaround for
that, inside #ifdef _MSC_VER. Enable this code
also for __SUNPRO_CC
Connect:
Don't use anonymous union.
Cast for mmap.
Don't pass gcc-ish -W... options to SunPro
Creating a CONNECT object on client connect and pass this to the working thread which creates the THD.
Split LOCK_thread_count to different mutexes
Added LOCK_thread_start to syncronize threads
Moved most usage of LOCK_thread_count to dedicated functions
Use next_thread_id() instead of thread_id++
Other things:
- Thread id now starts from 1 instead of 2
- Added cast for thread_id as thread id is now of type my_thread_id
- Made THD->host const (To ensure it's not changed)
- Removed some DBUG_PRINT() about entering/exiting mutex as these was already logged by mutex code
- Fixed that aborted_connects and connection_errors_internal are counted in all cases
- Don't take locks for current_linfo when we set it (not needed as it was 0 before)
The reason for the failure was a bug in an include file on debian that causes 'struct stat'
to have different sized depending on the environment.
This patch fixes so that we always include my_global.h or my_config.h before we include any other files.
Other things:
- Removed #include <my_global.h> in some include files; Better to always do this at the top level to have as few
"always-include-this-file-first' files as possible.
- Removed usage of some include files that where already included by my_global.h or by other files.
