66bd2b56fc Fixed LP bug #1058071 (mdev-564).
In some rare cases when the value of the system variable join_buffer_size
was set to a number less than 256 the function JOIN_CACHE::set_constants
determined the size of an offset in the join buffer equal to 1 though
the minimal join buffer required more than 256 bytes. This could cause
a crash of the server when records from the join buffer were read.

In 5.3 we substitute constants in ref access values it can't be null so we do not need add NOT NULL for early NULL filtering.

7615cb0890 Bug#13344643:Format function in view looses locale information
Problem description:
When a view is created using function FORMAT and if FORMAT function uses locale
option,definition of view saved into server doesn't contain that locale information,
Ex:
create  table test2 (bb decimal (10,2));
insert into test2 values (10.32),(10009.2),(12345678.21);
create view test3 as select format(bb,1,'sk_SK') as cc from test2;
select * from test3;
+--------------+
cc
+--------------+
10.3
10,009.2
12,345,678.2
+--------------+
3 rows in set (0.02 sec)

show create view test3
                View: test3
         Create View: CREATE ALGORITHM=UNDEFINED DEFINER=`root`@`localhost`
SQL SECURITY DEFINER VIEW `test3` AS select format(`test2`.`bb`,1) AS `cc`
from `test2`
character_set_client: latin1
collation_connection: latin1_swedish_ci
1 row in set (0.02 sec)

Problem Analysis:
The function Item_func_format::print() which prints the query string to create
the view does not print the third argument (i.e the locale information). Hence
view is created without locale information.

Problem Solution:
If argument count is more than 2 we now print the third argument onto the query string.

* in many cases date/time types are treated like other types, not as special cases
* greatly simplified Arg_comparator (regarding date/time/year code)
* SEC_TO_TIME is real function, not integer.
* microsecond precision in NOW, CURTIME, etc
* Item_temporal. All items derived from it only provide get_date, but no val* methods

a624f99e98 Fixed LP bug #707555.
The bug was in the code of the patch fixing bug 698882.
With improper casting the method store_key_field::change_source_field
was called for the elements of the array TABLE_REF::key_copy that
were either of a different type or not allocated at all. This caused
crashes in some queries.

84a0c9b2a2 Fixed LP bug #698882.
Made sure that the optimal fields are used by TABLE_REF objects
when building index access keys to joined tables.
Fixed a bug in the template function that sorts the elements of
a list using the bubble sort algorithm. The bug caused poor
performance of the function. Also added an optimization that
skips comparison with the most heavy elements that has been
already properly placed in the list.
Made the comparison of the fields belonging to the same Item_equal
more granular: fields belonging to the same table are also ordered
according to some rules.

0aebdc115f Ported the fix for LP bug #702310 / bug #59493.
An assertion failure was triggered for a 6-way join query that used two
join buffers.
The failure happened because every call of JOIN_CACHE::join_matching_records
saved and restored status of all tables that were accessed before the table
join_tab. It must do it only for those of them that follow the last table
using a join buffer.

Ole John Aske
f8697642d2 Fix for #58422: Incorrect result when OUTER JOIN'ing with an empty table.
Fixed incorrect checks in join_read_const_table() for when to
accept a non-existing, or empty const-row as a part of the const'ified
set of tables.

Intention of this test is to only accept NULL-rows if this table is outer joined
into the resultset. (In case of an inner-join we can conclude at this point that
resultset will be empty, end we want to return 'error' to signal this.)

Initially 'maybe_null' is set to the same value as 'outer_join' in
setup_table_map(), mysql_priv.h ~line 2424. Later simplify_joins() will
attemp to replace outer joins by inner join whenever possible. This
will cause 'outer_join' to be updated. However, 'maybe_null' is *not* updated
to reflect this rewrite as this field is used to currectly set the 'nullability'
property for the columns in the resultset.

We should therefore change join_read_const_table() to check the 'outer_join'
property instead of 'maybe_null', as this correctly reflect the nullability of
the *execution plan* (not *resultset*).

Bug#54515: Crash in opt_range.cc::get_best_group_min_max on
           SELECT from VIEW with GROUP BY

When handling the grouping items in get_best_group_min_max, the
items need to be of type Item_field. In this bug, an ASSERT
triggered because the item used for grouping was an
Item_direct_view_ref (i.e., the group column is from a view).
The fix is to get the real_item since Item_ref* pointing to
Item_field is ok.

2acfdc5092 Bug #8433: Overflow must be an error
All numeric operators and functions on integer, floating point
and DECIMAL values now throw an 'out of range' error rather
than returning an incorrect value or NULL, when the result is
out of supported range for the corresponding data type.

Some test cases in the test suite had to be updated
accordingly either because the test case itself relied on a
value returned in case of a numeric overflow, or because a
numeric overflow was the root cause of the corresponding bugs.
The latter tests are no longer relevant, since the expressions
used to trigger the corresponding bugs are not valid anymore.
However, such test cases have been adjusted and kept "for the
record".

172af3722e Fix for bug#49897: crash in ptr_compare when char(0) NOT NULL

Problem: filesort isn't meant for null length sort data

c5e6a11e14 Fix for bug#49517: Inconsistent behavior while using
NULLable BIGINT and INT columns in comparison

Problem: a consequence of the fix for 43668.
