866cec611a Bug #57840 MTR: parallel execution breaks with smart ordering of test cases
There were actually more problems in this area:
Slaves (if any) were unconditionally restarted, this appears unnecessary.
Sort criteria were suboptimal, included the test name.
Added logic to "reserve" a sequence of tests with same config for one thread
Got rid of sort_criteria hash, put it into the test case itself
Adds little sanity check that expected worker picks up test
Fixed some tests that may fail if starting on running server
Some of these fail only if *same* test is repeated.
Finally, special sorting of tests that do --force-restart

06c49d571b Bug#27606 GRANT statement should be replicated with DEFINER information
"Grantor" columns' data is lost when replicating mysql.tables_priv.
Slave SQL thread used its default user ''@'' as the grantor of GRANT|REVOKE

In this patch, current user is put in query log event for all GRANT and REVOKE
statement, SQL thread uses the user in query log event as grantor.

6646fecc14 Bug#55478 Row events wrongly apply on the temporary table of the same name
Rows events were applied wrongly on the temporary table with the same name.
But rows events are generated only for base tables. As temporary
table's data never be binlogged on row mode. Normally, base table of the
same name cannot be updated if a temporary table has the same name.
But there are two cases which can generate rows events on
the base table of same name.

Case1: 'CREATE TABLE ... SELECT' statement.
In mixed format, it will generate rows events if it is unsafe.

Case2: Drop a transactional temporary table in a transaction
       (happens only on 5.5+).
BEGIN;
DROP TEMPORARY TABLE t1; # t1 is a InnoDB table
INSERT INTO t1 VALUES(rand()); # t1 is a MyISAM table
COMMIT;
'DROP TEMPORARY TABLE' will be put in the transaction cache and
binlogged after the rows events generated by the 'INSERT' statement.

After this patch, slave opens only base table when applying a rows event.

211552ccee Bug#56118 STOP SLAVE does not wait till trx with CREATE TMP TABLE ends,
replication aborts

When recieving a 'SLAVE STOP' command, slave SQL thread will roll back the
transaction and stop immidiately if there is only transactional table updated,
even through 'CREATE|DROP TEMPOARY TABLE' statement are in it. But These
statements can never be rolled back. Because the temporary tables to the user
session mapping remain until 'RESET SLAVE', Therefore it will abort SQL thread
with an error that the table already exists or doesn't exist, when it restarts
and executes the whole transaction again.

After this patch, SQL thread always waits till the transaction ends and then stops,
if 'CREATE|DROP TEMPOARY TABLE' statement are in it.

42f8d2f249 Bug#56226 Table map set to 0 after altering MyISAM table
After ALTER TABLE which changed only table's metadata, row-based
binlog sometimes got corrupted since the tablemap was unexpectedly
set to 0 for subsequent updates to the same table.

ALTER TABLE which changed only table's metadata always reset
table_map_id for the table share to 0. Despite the fact that
0 is a valid value for table_map_id, this step caused problems
as it could have created situation in which we had more than
one table share with table_map_id equal 0. If more than one
table with table_map_id are 0 were updated in the same statement,
updates to these different tables were written into the same
rows event. This caused slave server to crash.

This bug happens only on 5.1. It doesn't affect 5.5+.

This patch solves this problem by ensuring that ALTER TABLE
statements which change metadata only never reset table_map_id
to 0. To do this it changes reopen_table() to correctly use
refreshed table_map_id value instead of using the old one/
resetting it.

10812c0782 Bug#55375 Transaction bigger than max_binlog_cache_size crashes slave
When slave executes a transaction bigger than slave's max_binlog_cache_size,
slave will crash. It is caused by the assert that server should only roll back
the statement but not the whole transaction if the error ER_TRANS_CACHE_FULL
happens. But slave sql thread always rollbacks the whole transaction when
an error happens.

Ather this patch, we always clear any error set in sql thread(it is different
from the error in 'SHOW SLAVE STATUS') and it is cleared before rolling back
the transaction.

SET binlog_cache_size and max_binlog_cache_size for all test cases.

sql/log_event.cc:
Some functions don't return the error code, so it is a wrong error code.
The error should always be set into thd->main_da. So we use
slave_rows_error_report to report the right error.
sql/slave.cc:
exec_relay_log_event() need call cleanup_context() to clear context.
  clearup_context() will call end_trans().

Clear thd's error before cleanup_context. It avoid to trigger the assert
  which cause this bug.

9d6811502e WL#5370 Keep forward-compatibility when changing
'CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS ... SELECT' behaviour
BUG#55474, BUG#55499, BUG#55598, BUG#55616 and BUG#55777 are fixed
in this patch too.

This is the 5.1 part.
It implements:
- if the table exists, binlog two events: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS
  and INSERT ... SELECT

- Insert nothing and binlog nothing on master if the existing object
is a view. It only generates a warning that table already exists.

mysql-test/r/trigger.result:
Ather this patch, 'CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS ... SELECT' will not
insert anything if the creating table already exists and is a view.
sql/sql_class.h:
Declare virtual function write_to_binlog() for select_insert.
It's used to binlog 'create select'
sql/sql_insert.cc:
  Implement write_to_binlog();
Use write_to_binlog() instead of binlog_query() to binlog the statement.
if the table exists, binlog two events: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS
  and INSERT ... SELECT
sql/sql_lex.h:
  Declare create_select_start_with_brace and create_select_pos.
They are helpful for binlogging 'create select'
sql/sql_parse.cc:
Do nothing on master if the existing object is a view.
sql/sql_yacc.yy:
Record the relative postion of 'SELECT' in the 'CREATE ...SELECT' statement.
Record whether there is a '(' before the 'SELECT' clause.

bcb3170c97 Bug #34283 mysqlbinlog leaves tmpfile after termination if binlog contains load data infile
With statement- or mixed-mode logging, "LOAD DATA INFILE" queries
are written to the binlog using special types of log events.
When mysqlbinlog reads such events, it re-creates the file in a
temporary directory with a generated filename and outputs a
"LOAD DATA INFILE" query where the filename is replaced by the
generated file. The temporary file is not deleted by mysqlbinlog
after termination.

To fix the problem, in mixed mode we go to row-based. In SBR, we
document it to remind user the tmpfile is left in a temporary
directory.

f62e89fade BUG#55625 RBR breaks on failing 'CREATE TABLE'
A CREATE...SELECT that fails is written to the binary log if a non-transactional
statement is updated. If the logging format is ROW, the CREATE statement and the
changes are written to the binary log as distinct events and by consequence the
created table is not rolled back in the slave.

In this patch, we opted to let the slave goes out of sync by not writting to the
binary log the CREATE statement. We do this by simply reseting the binary log's
cache.

2124538d9c BUG#49124 Security issue with /*!-versioned */ SQL statements on Slave
/*![:version:] Query Code */, where [:version:] is a sequence of 5
digits representing the mysql server version(e.g /*!50200 ... */),
is a special comment that the query in it can be executed on those
servers whose versions are larger than the version appearing in the
comment. It leads to a security issue when slave's version is larger
than master's. A malicious user can improve his privileges on slaves.
Because slave SQL thread is running with SUPER privileges, so it can
execute queries that he/she does not have privileges on master.

This bug is fixed with the logic below:
- To replace '!' with ' ' in the magic comments which are not applied on
master. So they become common comments and will not be applied on slave.

- Example:
  'INSERT INTO t1 VALUES (1) /*!10000, (2)*/ /*!99999 ,(3)*/
  will be binlogged as
  'INSERT INTO t1 VALUES (1) /*!10000, (2)*/ /* 99999 ,(3)*/

689a96fcce BUG#55322: SHOW BINLOG EVENTS increases @@SESSION.MAX_ALLOWED_PACKET
Problem: when SHOW BINLOG EVENTS was issued, it increased the value of
@@session.max_allowed_packet. This allowed a non-root user to increase
the amount of memory used by her thread arbitrarily. Thus, it removes
the bound on the amount of system resources used by a client, so it
presents a security risk (DoS attack).

Fix: it is correct to increase the value of @@session.max_allowed_packet
while executing SHOW BINLOG EVENTS (see BUG 30435). However, the
increase should only be temporary. Thus, the fix is to restore the value
when SHOW BINLOG EVENTS ends.
The value of @@session.max_allowed_packet is also increased in
mysql_binlog_send (i.e., the binlog dump thread). It is not clear if this
can cause any trouble, since normally the client that issues
COM_BINLOG_DUMP will not issue any other commands that would be affected
by the increased value of @@session.max_allowed_packet. However, we
restore the value just in case.

mysql-test/suite/rpl/r/rpl_packet.result:

Add test that verifies that @@session.max_allowed_packet does not change

  Make previous sub-test clean up.
Add comments listing the bugs in this test case.
sql/sql_repl.cc:
Restore the old value of thd->variables.max_allowed_packet at the

1b27674429 BUG#53893: RBR: nullable unique key can lead to out-of-sync slave
When using Unique Keys with nullable parts in RBR, the slave can
choose the wrong row to update. This happens because a table with
an unique key containing nullable parts cannot strictly guarantee
uniqueness. As stated in the manual, for all engines, a UNIQUE
index allows multiple NULL values for columns that can contain
NULL.

We fix this at the slave by extending the checks before assuming
that the row found through an unique index is is the correct
one. This means that when a record (R) is fetched from the storage
engine and a key that is not primary (K) is used, the server does
the following:

 - If K is unique and has no nullable parts, it returns R;
 - Otherwise, if any field in the before image that is part of K
   is null do an index scan;
 - If there is no NULL field in the BI part of K, then return R.

A side change: renamed the existing test case file and added a
test case covering the changes in this patch.

7e80f1c5dc Bug #49741 test files contain explicit references to bin/relay-log positions
Some of the test cases reference to binlog position and
these position numbers are written into result explicitly.
It is difficult to maintain if log event format changes.

There are a couple of cases explicit position number appears,
we handle them in different ways
A. 'CHANGE MASTER ...' with MASTER_LOG_POS or/and RELAY_LOG_POS options
   Use --replace_result to mask them.
B. 'SHOW BINLOG EVENT ...'
   Replaced by show_binlog_events.inc or wait_for_binlog_event.inc.
show_binlog_events.inc file's function is enhanced by given
   $binlog_file and $binlog_limit.
C. 'SHOW SLAVE STATUS', 'show_slave_status.inc' and 'show_slave_status2.inc'
For the test cases just care a few items in the result of 'SHOW SLAVE STATUS',
only the items related to each test case are showed.
'show_slave_status.inc' is rebuild, only the given items in $status_items

3f8bde448c BUG#53560 CREATE TEMP./DROP TEMP. are not binglogged correctly after a failed statement
This patch fixes two problems described as follows:

1 - If there is an on-going transaction and a temporary table is created or
dropped, any failed statement that follows the "create" or "drop commands"
triggers a rollback and by consequence the slave will go out sync because
the binary log will have a wrong sequence of events.

To fix the problem, we changed the expression that evaluates when the
cache should be flushed after either the rollback of a statment or
transaction.

2 - When a "CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE SELECT * FROM" was executed the
OPTION_KEEP_LOG was not set into the thd->options. For that reason, if
the transaction had updated only transactional engines and was rolled
back at the end (.e.g due to a deadlock) the changes were not written
to the binary log, including the creation of the temporary table.

To fix the problem, we have set the OPTION_KEEP_LOG into the thd->options
when a "CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE SELECT * FROM" is executed.

sql/log.cc:
Reorganized the code based on the following functions:

  - bool ending_trans(const THD* thd, const bool all);
  - bool trans_has_updated_non_trans_table(const THD* thd);
  - bool trans_has_no_stmt_committed(const THD* thd, const bool all);
  - bool stmt_has_updated_non_trans_table(const THD* thd);
sql/log.h:
Added functions to organize the code in log.cc.
sql/log_event.cc:
Removed the OPTION_KEEP_LOG since it must be used only when
  creating and dropping temporary tables.
sql/log_event_old.cc:
Removed the OPTION_KEEP_LOG since it must be used only when
  creating and dropping temporary tables.
sql/sql_parse.cc:
When a "CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE SELECT * FROM" was executed the
OPTION_KEEP_LOG was not set into the thd->options.

To fix the problem, we have set the OPTION_KEEP_LOG into the
thd->options when a "CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE SELECT * FROM"
  is executed.

missing synchronization between master and slave.

Additionally, it also fixes the check_testcase for

2646306cc9 BUG#49522: Replication problem with mixed MyISAM/InnoDB
When using a non-transactional table (t1) on the master
and with autocommit disabled, no COMMIT is recorded
in the binary log ending the statement. Therefore, if
the slave has t1 in a transactional engine, then it will
be as if a transaction is started but never ends. This is
actually BUG#29288 all over again.

We fix this by cherrypicking the cset for BUG#29288 which
was pushed to a later mysql version. The revision picked
was: mats@sun.com-20090923094343-bnheplq8n95opjay .

Additionally, a test case for covering the scenario depicted
in the bug report is included in this cset.

fbe81e3c97 BUG#52868: Wrong handling of NULL value during update, replication out
of sync

In RBR, sometimes the table->s->last_null_bit_pos can be zero. This
has impact at the slave when it compares records fetched from the
storage engine against records in the binary log event. If
last_null_bit_pos is zero the slave, while comparing in
log_event.cc:record_compare function, would set all bits in the last
null_byte to 1 (assumed all 8 were unused) . Thence it would loose the
ability to distinguish records that were similar in contents except
for the fact that some field was null in one record, but not in the
other. Ultimately this would cause wrong matches, and in the specific
case depicted in the bug report the same record would be updated
twice, resulting in a lost update.

Additionally, in the record_compare function the slave was setting the
X bit unconditionally. There are cases that the X bit does not exist
in the record header. This could also lead to wrong matches between
records.

We fix both by conditionally resetting the bits: (i) unused null_bits
are set if last_null_bit_pos > 0; (ii) X bit is set if
HA_OPTION_PACK_RECORD is in use.

454c003a5c Bug #50407 mysqlbinlog --database=X produces bad output for SAVEPOINTs
When mysqlbinlog was given the --database=X flag, it always printed
'ROLLBACK TO', but the corresponding 'SAVEPOINT' statement was not
printed. The replicated filter(replicated-do/ignore-db) and binlog
filter (binlog-do/ignore-db) has the same problem. They are solved
in this patch together.

After this patch, We always check whether the query is 'SAVEPOINT'
statement or not. Because this is a literal check, 'SAVEPOINT' and
'ROLLBACK TO' statements are also binlogged in uppercase with no
any comments.

The binlog before this patch can be handled correctly except one case
that any comments are in front of the keywords. for example:
 /* bla bla */ SAVEPOINT a;
 /* bla bla */ ROLLBACK TO a;

4775601012 Bug #50095 Multi statement including CREATE EVENT causes rotten binlog entry
The log event of 'CREATE EVENT' was being binlogged with garbage
at the end of the query if 'CREATE EVENT' is followed by another SQL statement
and they were executed as one command.
for example:
    DELIMITER |;
    CREATE EVENT e1 ON EVERY DAY DO SELECT 1; SELECT 'a';
    DELIMITER ;|
When binlogging 'CREATE EVENT', we always create a new statement with definer
and write it into the log event. The new statement is made from cpp_buf(preprocessed buffer).
which is not a c string(end with '\0'), but it is copied as a c string.

In this patch, cpp_buf is copied with its length.

fc34cd1c21 BUG#51987: revoke privileges logs wrong error code
A failed REVOKE statement is logged with error=0, thus causing
the slave to stop. The slave should not stop as this was an
expected error. Given that the execution failed on the master as
well the error code should be logged so that the slave can replay
the statement, get an error and compare with the master's
execution outcome. If errors match, then slave can proceed with
replication, as the error it got, when replaying the statement,
was expected.

In this particular case, the bug surfaces because the error code
is pushed to the THD diagnostics area after writing the event to
the binary log. Therefore, it would be logged with the THD
diagnostics area clean, hence its error code would not contain
the correct code.

We fix this by moving the error reporting ahead of the call to
the routine that writes the event to the binary log.

c3cd608aef Bug #51648 DBUG_SYNC_POINT is not defined on all platforms and mtr cant pre-check that
DBUG_SYNC_POINT has at least one strong limitation that it's not defined
on all platforms. It has issues cooperating with @@debug.
All in all its functionality is superseded by DEBUG_SYNC facility and
there is no reason to maintain the old less flexible one.

Fixed with adding debug_sync_set_action() function as a facility to set up
a sync-action in the server sources code and re-writing existing simulations
(found 3) to use it.
Couple of tests have been reworked as well.

The patch offers a pattern for setting sync-points in replication threads
where the standard DEBUG_SYNC does not suffice to reach goals.

2c5f439d65 BUG#49618: Field length stored incorrectly in binary log
for InnoDB

The class Field_bit_as_char stores the metadata for the
field incorrecly because bytes_in_rec and bit_len are set
to (field_length + 7 ) / 8 and 0 respectively, while
Field_bit has the correct values field_length / 8 and
field_length % 8.

Solved the problem by re-computing the values for the
metadata based on the field_length instead of using the
bytes_in_rec and bit_len variables.

To handle compatibility with old server, a table map
flag was added to indicate that the bit computation is
exact. If the flag is clear, the slave computes the
number of bytes required to store the bit field and
compares that instead, effectively allowing replication
*without conversion* from any field length that require
the same number of bytes to store.

7768ccbb54 BUG#51055: Replication failure on duplicate key + traditional SQL
mode

When the master was executing in sql_mode='traditional' (which
implies that really_abort_on_warning returns TRUE - because of
MODE_STRICT_ALL_TABLES), the error code (ER_DUP_ENTRY in the
reported case) was not being set in the
Query_log_event. Therefore, even if a failure was to be expected
when replaying the statement on the slave, a failure would occur,
because the Query_log_event was not transporting the expected
error code, but 0 instead.

This was because when the master was getting the error code to
set it in the Query_log_event, the executing thread would be
assumed to have been killed:
THD::killed==THD::KILL_BAD_DATA. This would make the error code
fetch routine not to check thd->main_da.sql_errno(), but instead
the thd->killed value. What's more, is that the server would
thd->killed value if thd->killed == THD::KILL_BAD_DATA and return
0 instead. So this is a double inconsistency, as the we should
not even check thd->killed but rather thd->main_da.sql_errno().

We fix this by extending the condition used to choose whether to
check the thd->main_da.sql_errno() or thd->killed, so that it
takes into consideration the case when:
thd->killed==THD::KILL_BAD_DATA.

dbb9e58c13 Bug #51600 rpl_slave_skip waits for slave to stop incorrectly
START SLAVE UNTIL MASTER ... specifies only SQL thread to stop.
rpl_slave_skip erronously deployed waiting for stop of both threads.

Corrected with deploying the correct macro.
Notice, earlier a similar bug@47749 was fixed in mysql-trunk.

mysql-test/suite/rpl/t/rpl_slave_skip.test:
changing two waiting calls for offline of both threads into waiting for SQL to stop.
