Final part of WL#1717 "innodb/binlog consistency". This is to resolve
a limitation of yesterday's implementation: if there was an unfinished transaction (COMMIT not typed), and some MyISAM tables were then updated, and then mysqld crashes, then at restart the server would use the too old binlog offset known by InnoDB to cut the binlog, thus cutting the successful MyISAM updates. We fix this by reporting the binlog offset into InnoDB even if InnoDB was not affected at all by the update. But the feature is still disabled until we decide if it can go into 4.1.3. sql/handler.cc: How we report the binlog offset into InnoDB: - if the update affected InnoDB, it will happen naturally - otherwise (for example MyISAM update not in an InnoDB transaction), we explicitely report it. sql/handler.h: removing warning (noticed this) sql/log.cc: clearer messages when truncating binlog. sql/mysql_priv.h: need to see opt_innodb_safe_binlog in handler.cc sql/mysqld.cc: No innodb-safe-binlog if no InnoDB. Updating message as now we work with MyISAM. |

WL#1717 "binlog/innodb consistency".
Final push. Printing some warnings at startup, as --innodb-safe-binlog requires some other options, to work as expected. Adding 6 new tests (3 pairs). If they fail on some platforms (so far they have been run only on my Linux), they should be ignored for the 4.1.3 build (you can just rm mysql-test/*/rpl_crash_*). Now going to update doc. mysql-test/misc/kill_master.sh: If the mysqld process has already gone away, 'kill' will fail, so we need to explicitely exit 0, so that the non-zero return code of kill does not make mysqltest stop. sql/log.cc: VC++ does not know (ulonglong)(-1) sql/mysqld.cc: When using --innodb-safe-binlog, some options need to automatically be turned on. |

Robustness feature.
Won't be pushed as is - separate email sent for internal review. WL#1717 "binlog-innodb consistency". Now when mysqld starts, if InnoDB does a crash recovery, we use the binlog name and position retrieved from InnoDB (corresponding to the last transaction successfully committed by InnoDB) to cut any rolled back transaction from the binary log. This is triggered by the --innodb-safe-binlog option. Provided you configure mysqld to fsync() InnoDB at every commit (using flush_log_at_trx_commit) and to fsync() the binlog at every write (using --sync-binlog=1), this behaviour guarantees that a master always has consistency between binlog and InnoDB, whenever the crash happens. 6 tests to verify that it works. client/mysqltest.c: New command require_os (only "unix" accepted for now). innobase/include/trx0sys.h: when InnoDB does crash recovery, we now save the binlog coords it prints, into variables for later use. innobase/trx/trx0sys.c: when InnoDB does crash recovery, we now save the binlog coords it prints, into variables for later use. mysql-test/mysql-test-run.sh: The tests which check that the binlog is cut at restart, need to not delete those binlogs, of course. And not delete replication info, so that we can test that the slave does not receive anything wrong from the cut binlog. sql/ha_innodb.cc: methods to read from InnoDB the binlog coords stored into it sql/ha_innodb.h: ethods to read from InnoDB the binlog coords stored into it sql/log.cc: Added my_sync() when we create a binlog (my_sync of the binlog and of the index file); this is always done, whether --sync-binlog or not (binlog creation is rare, so no speed problem, and I like to have the existence of the binlog always reliably recorded, even if later content is not). If --crash-binlog-innodb, crash between the binlog write and the InnoDB commit. New methods: - report_pos_in_innodb() to store the binlog name and position into InnoDB (used only when we create a new binlog: at startup and at FLUSH LOGS) - cut_spurious_tail() to possibly cut the tail of a binlog based on the info we read from InnoDB (does something only if InnoDB has just done a crash recovery). sql/mysql_priv.h: new option, to crash (use for testing only) sql/mysqld.cc: New option --innodb-safe-binlog and --crash-binlog-innodb (the latter is for testing, it makes mysqld crash). Just after opening the logs and opening the storage engines, cut any wrong statement from the binlog, based on info read from InnoDB. sql/sql_class.h: new methods for MYSQL_LOG. |

WL#1264 "Per-thread time zone support infrastructure".
Added basic per-thread time zone functionality (based on public domain elsie-code). Now user can select current time zone (from the list of time zones described in system tables). All NOW-like functions honor this time zone, values of TIMESTAMP type are interpreted as values in this time zone, so now our TIMESTAMP type behaves similar to Oracle's TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE (or proper PostgresSQL type). WL#1266 "CONVERT_TZ() - basic time with time zone conversion function". Fixed problems described in Bug #2336 (Different number of warnings when inserting bad datetime as string or as number). This required reworking of datetime realted warning hadling (they now generated at Field object level not in conversion functions). Optimization: Now Field class descendants use table->in_use member instead of current_thd macro. include/my_global.h: Added macro for reading of 32-bit ints stored in network order from unaligned memory location. include/mysqld_error.h: Added error-code for invalid timestamp warning and error-code for wrong or unknown time zone specification. libmysqld/Makefile.am: Added main per-thread time zone support file to libmysqld libmysqld/lib_sql.cc: Added initialization of time zones infrastructure to embedded server. mysql-test/r/connect.result: Updated test result since now mysql database contains more system tables. mysql-test/r/date_formats.result: Now when truncation occurs during conversion to datetime value we are producing Warnings instead of Notes. Also we are giving more clear warnings about this in some cases. mysql-test/r/func_sapdb.result: New warnings about truncation occured during conversion to datetime value added due their better handling. mysql-test/r/func_time.result: New warnings about truncation occured during conversion to datetime value added due their better handling. mysql-test/r/select.result: New warnings about truncation occured during conversion to datetime value added due their better handling. Also tweaked test a bit to made it less ambigious for reader. mysql-test/r/system_mysql_db.result: Updated test result because new system tables holding time zone descriptions were added. mysql-test/r/timezone.result: Updated timezone.test to use new system variable which shows system time zone. Added test of warning which is produced if someone tries to store non-existing (due falling into spring time-gap) datetime value into TIMESTAMP field. mysql-test/r/type_datetime.result: Separated and extended test of values and warnings produced for bad values stored in DATETTIME fields. mysql-test/r/type_time.result: Now we are producing more consistent warning when we are truncating datetime value while storing it in TIME field. mysql-test/r/type_timestamp.result: Separated and extended test of values and warnings produced for bad values stored in TIMESTAMP fields. mysql-test/t/select.test: Updated test to make it less ambigous for reader. mysql-test/t/timezone.test: Updated timezone.test to use new system variable which shows system time zone. Added test of warning which is produced if someone tries to store non-existing (due falling into spring time-gap) datetime value into TIMESTAMP field. mysql-test/t/type_datetime.test: Separated and extended test of values and warnings produced for bad values stored in DATETTIME fields. mysql-test/t/type_timestamp.test: Separated and extended test of values and warnings produced for bad values stored in TIMESTAMP fields. scripts/mysql_create_system_tables.sh: Added creation of tables with time zone descriptions. Also added descriptions of time zones used in tests. scripts/mysql_fix_privilege_tables.sql: Added mysql.time_zone* tables family. sql/Makefile.am: Added files implementing time zone support to server, also added rules for building of mysql_tzinfo_to_sql converter and test_time test. sql/field.cc: Now we are using per-thread time zone for TIMESTAMP <-> whatever conversion. Fixed generation of warnings for datetime types (DATETIME/TIMESTAMP/DATE/...) and any other Field to datetime conversion (now we are generating warnings no in lower level functions like in str_to_TIME() but in Field methods. This allows generate better and more consistent warnings and to reuse code of str_to_TIME() outside of server). Added 3rd parameter to set_warning() method to be able to not increment cut fields but still produce a warning. Also added set_datetime_warning() family of auxiliary methods which allow easier generate datetime related warnings. Also replaced occurences of current_thd with table->in_use member, added asserts for catching all places there we need to set table->in_use accordingly. Renamed fix_datetime() function to number_to_TIME() and moved it to sql/time.cc there it fits better. sql/field.h: Added comment about places where we can use table->in_use member instead of current_thd. Added 3rd parameter to Field::set_warning() method and set_datetime_warning() family of methods. sql/field_conv.cc: Field::set_warning() method with 2 arguments was replaced with more generic set_warning() method with 3 arguments. sql/ha_berkeley.cc: Now we set table->in_use for temporary tables so we have to use table->tmp_table for checking if table is temporary. sql/item.cc: Replaced calls to str_to_time() and str_to_TIME() funcs with their warning generating analogs. sql/item_create.cc: Added creation of CONVERT_TZ function as FUNC_ARG3. sql/item_create.h: Added creation of CONVERT_TZ function as FUNC_ARG3. sql/item_timefunc.cc: Added support of per-thread time zone to NOW-like and FROM_UNIXTIME, UNIX_TIMESTAMP functions. Added support for CONVERT_TZ function. Removed call to str_to_timestamp function which caused non-optimal behavior in certain cases. Replaced calls to str_to_time() function with its warning generating analog. sql/item_timefunc.h: Added support of per-thread time zone to NOW-like and FROM_UNIXTIME, UNIX_TIMESTAMP functions. Added support of CONVERT_TZ function. sql/lex.h: Added support of CONVERT_TZ function. sql/log.cc: Added support for replication of statements depending on time zone. sql/mysql_priv.h: Now including headers with per-thread time zone support functions and classes. Added portable replacement of time_t - my_time_t type. Added time zone as one of query distinguishing parameters for query cache. Fixed declarations of str_to_TIME, str_to_time and my_system_gmt_sec (former my_gmt_sec) since now they have one more out parameter which informs about wrong datetime value or data truncation during conversion. Added warning generating version of str_to_TIME() and str_to_time() functions. Thrown away str_to_datetime/timestamp functions since they are not needed any longer. Added number_to_TIME function. sql/mysqld.cc: Added per-thread time zone support initialization. Added new startup parameter --default-time-zone. sql/set_var.cc: Added support for per-thread time_zone variable. Renamed old timezone variable to system_time_zone. sql/set_var.h: Added support for per-thread time_zone variable. sql/share/czech/errmsg.txt: Added error message for barking when incorrect time zone name or specifiaction is provided and for warning about invalid TIMESTAMP values (e.g. falling into the spring time-gap). sql/share/danish/errmsg.txt: Added error message for barking when incorrect sql/sql_base.cc: Now we are setting TABLE::in_use member for all tables (which assume calls to Field::store or val_ methods). sql/sql_cache.cc: Added time zone as one more query distinguishing parameter for query cache. sql/sql_class.cc: Added THD::time_zone_used variable indicating that this query uses per thread time zone. sql/sql_class.h: Added per-thread time zone variable. Added THD::time_zone_used variable indicating that this query uses per thread time zone so if this is updating query the time zone should be logged to binlog. sql/sql_insert.cc: We should set TABLE::in_use member pointing to thread which is called INSERT DELAYED and not to worker thread. sql/sql_load.cc: Field::set_warning() now has one more argument now. sql/sql_parse.cc: Resetting THD::time_zone_used variable in the end of query processing. sql/sql_select.cc: Now we are setting TABLE::in_use member for all tables (which assume calls to Field::store or val_ methods). sql/sql_show.cc: Now using per thread time zone for extended show tables. sql/time.cc: Added support for per-thread time zones for TIMESTAMP type and reworked generation of warnings for TIMESTAMP and DATETIME types. WL#1595 "Optionally fsync() the binlog after every statement":
New option --sync-binlog=x (and global settable variable) which will fsync the binlog after every x-th disk write to it. Implementation of WL#1824 "Add replication of character set variables in 4.1",
by binlogging some SET ONE_SHOT CHARACTER_SETetc, which will be enough until we have it more compact and more complete in 5.0. With the present patch, replication will work ok between 4.1.3 master and slaves, as long as: - master and slave have the same GLOBAL.COLLATION_SERVER - COLLATION_DATABASE and CHARACTER_SET_DATABASE are not used - application does not use the fact that table is created with charset of the USEd db (BUG#2326). all of which are not too hard to fulfill. ONE_SHOT is reserved for internal use of mysqlbinlog|mysql and works only for charsets, so we give error if used for non-charset vars. Fix for BUG#3875 "mysqlbinlog produces wrong ouput if query uses variables containing quotes" and BUG#3943 "Queries with non-ASCII literals are not replicated properly after SET NAMES". Detecting that master and slave have different global charsets or server ids. mysql-test/r/rpl_server_id1.result: it's normal to not run as I have added a test to compare server ids of master and slave at startup and stop if equal (unless --replicate-same-server-id) mysql-test/r/rpl_user_variables.result: result update (as we now print charset of user var). mysql-test/r/user_var.result: result update mysql-test/t/rpl_server_id1.test: no need to select as slave is not running mysql-test/t/user_var.test: testing if the content of user vars is escaped when mysqlbinlog prints them, and if the name is backquoted. sql/lex.h: new keyword ONE_SHOT sql/log.cc: when writing to the binlog, before writing the actual statement, write some SET ONE_SHOT CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT etc for the slave to know the charset variables (which are important as they affect the inserted data). sql/log_event.cc: print charset and collation of user var in mysqlbinlog and SHOW BINLOG EVENTS. escape the content of the var. Backquote its name. Will ask Bar to check that using my_charset_bin for escaping is ok. sql/set_var.cc: understand SET CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=10 (don't require a string, accept a number). Refuse changing of GLOBAL CHARACTER_SET_SERVER/COLLATION_SERVER if binlog or slave, as it will make the master or slave make wrong assumptions. A function to catch SET ONE_SHOT on non-charset variables (which is forbidden) sql/set_var.h: no_support_one_shot to know if the var supports ONE_SHOT (only charset vars do, soon timezones). Accept int arg in SET CHARACTER_SET_etc sql/slave.cc: when I/O slave thread starts, verify that master's and slave charsets match. And by the way verify that server ids are different. Don't fail if UNIX_TIMESTAMP() can't be done on master (very old master), that's not fatal. sql/sql_class.cc: one_shot sql/sql_class.h: one_shot sql/sql_lex.h: one_shot sql/sql_parse.cc: when SET ONE_SHOT is used, verify that it's only used for charset/collation vars; otherwise refuse. sql/sql_yacc.yy: ONE_SHOT keyword in SET |

This is the final commit for Worklog tasks:
* A more dynamic binlog format which allows small changes (1064) * Log session variables in Query_log_event (1063) It contains a few bugfixes (which I made when running the testsuite). I carefully updated the results of the testsuite (i.e. I checked for every one, if the difference between .reject and .result could be explained). Apparently mysql-test-run --manager is broken in 4.1 and 5.0 currently, so I could neither run the few tests which require --manager, nor check that they pass nor modify their .result. But for builds, we don't run with --manager. Apart from --manager, the full testsuite passes, with Valgrind too (no errors). I'm going to push in the next minutes. Remains: update the manual. Note: by chance I saw that (in 4.1, in 5.0) rpl_get_lock fails when run alone; this is normal at it makes assumptions on thread ids. I will fix this one day in 4.1. mysql-test/r/rpl000015.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_change_master.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_error_ignored_table.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_flush_log_loop.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_flush_tables.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_loaddata.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_loaddata_rule_m.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_loaddata_rule_s.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_log.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_log_pos.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_max_relay_size.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_relayrotate.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_replicate_do.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_reset_slave.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_rotate_logs.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_session_var.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_temporary.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_trunc_binlog.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_until.result: result update mysql-test/r/rpl_user_variables.result: result update mysql-test/t/rpl000010-slave.opt: need to wait 2 events, because now we receive a Format_desc on top of the Rotate, when replication starts. mysql-test/t/rpl000015.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_change_master.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_empty_master_crash.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_error_ignored_table.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_flush_log_loop.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_loaddata.test: position update mysql-test/t/rpl_loaddata_rule_m.test: position update mysql-test/t/rpl_loaddata_rule_s.test: position update mysql-test/t/rpl_log.test: position update mysql-test/t/rpl_log_pos.test: position update mysql-test/t/rpl_max_relay_size.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_openssl.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_redirect.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_relayrotate-slave.opt: better options for this test mysql-test/t/rpl_relayrotate.test: using max() is better for debugging (it shows at which place the slave SQL thread resumed) mysql-test/t/rpl_replicate_do.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_reset_slave.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_rotate_logs.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_session_var.test: 100 because password() is longer than 10 chars mysql-test/t/rpl_trunc_binlog.test: relay log information is not repeatable in general (if a reconnection happens because --sleep=10 for example), so we hide these columns. mysql-test/t/rpl_until.test: position update mysql-test/t/rpl_user_variables.test: position update sql/log.cc: Ensure that the Format_desc propagated on next relay logs does not trigger undue actions (like incrementing some positions or clearing some files). sql/log_event.cc: * When the slave SQL thread finds a Rotate/Format_desc/Stop in the middle of a transaction (then these were written by the slave itself to its relay log), it should not increment rli->group* variables, but only rli->event* ones. * When the slave SQL thread finds a Format_desc not to be ignored (not the same server id as the slave's), if it has log_pos==0 it must not trigger "unfinished transaction in master's binlog" (log_pos==0 is always a marker in the relay log to mean "this event was not at this place in the master's binlog": it's for fake Rotate events, and for Format_description events which the master had to send us for replication to start). * In the Query_log_event on disk, catalog is now terminated by '\0'. * thd->catalog must be set to 0 when some exec_event() terminate (otherwise double free). sql/slave.cc: * Fixes for a few bugs when ignoring events in the slave SQL thread: - do not decrement rli->slave_skip_counter if the event is an event related to the binlog or relay log itself (FORMAT_DESCRIPTION, ROTATE, STOP) because these events should never be skipped (or the slave will be confused). Usually the user wants to skip a query, not a Rotate... - when we (re)connect to the master, we must free description_event_for_queue (otherwise memory leak when we reconnect). * Changed a bit the code where we change description_event_for_queue, to make it look "safer". * Moved 'created=0' to log.cc where it is safer. * When the slave SQL thread finds a Rotate/Format_desc/Stop in the middle of a transaction (then these were written by the slave itself to its relay log), it should not increment rli->group* variables, but only rli->event* ones. sql/sql_class.h: a warning comment sql/sql_repl.cc: A mistake: I had passed a char* instead of char** |

This will be pushed only after I fix the testsuite.
This is the main commit for Worklog tasks: * A more dynamic binlog format which allows small changes (1064) * Log session variables in Query_log_event (1063) Below 5.0 means 5.0.0. MySQL 5.0 is able to replicate FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS, UNIQUE_KEY_CHECKS (for speed), SQL_AUTO_IS_NULL, SQL_MODE. Not charsets (WL#1062), not some vars (I can only think of SQL_SELECT_LIMIT, which deserves a special treatment). Note that this works for queries, except LOAD DATA INFILE (for this it would have to wait for Dmitri's push of WL#874, which in turns waits for the present push, so... the deadlock must be broken!). Note that when Dmitri pushes WL#874 in 5.0.1, 5.0.0 won't be able to replicate a LOAD DATA INFILE from 5.0.1. Apart from that, the new binlog format is designed so that it can tolerate a little variation in the events (so that a 5.0.0 slave could replicate a 5.0.1 master, except for LOAD DATA INFILE unfortunately); that is, when I later add replication of charsets it should break nothing. And when I later add a UID to every event, it should break nothing. The main change brought by this patch is a new type of event, Format_description_log_event, which describes some lengthes in other event types. This event is needed for the master/slave/mysqlbinlog to understand a 5.0 log. Thanks to this event, we can later add more bytes to the header of every event without breaking compatibility. Inside Query_log_event, we have some additional dynamic format, as every Query_log_event can have a different number of status variables, stored as pairs (code, value); that's how SQL_MODE and session variables and catalog are stored. Like this, we can later add count of affected rows, charsets... and we can have options --don't-log-count-affected-rows if we want. MySQL 5.0 is able to run on 4.x relay logs, 4.x binlogs. Upgrading a 4.x master to 5.0 is ok (no need to delete binlogs), upgrading a 4.x slave to 5.0 is ok (no need to delete relay logs); so both can be "hot" upgrades. Upgrading a 3.23 master to 5.0 requires as much as upgrading it to 4.0. 3.23 and 4.x can't be slaves of 5.0. So downgrading from 5.0 to 4.x may be complicated. Log_event::log_pos is now the position of the end of the event, which is more useful than the position of the beginning. We take care about compatibility with <5.0 (in which log_pos is the beginning). I added a short test for replication of SQL_MODE and some other variables. TODO: - after committing this, merge the latest 5.0 into it - fix all tests - update the manual with upgrade notes. client/Makefile.am: mysqlbinlog.cc depends slightly on sql/mysql_priv.h client/mysqlbinlog.cc: Make mysqlbinlog able to read the new binlog format, by seeking to the start and reading the first few events, to detect the format of the binlog. include/my_sys.h: a correct tell() for SEQ_READ_APPEND caches. mysys/mf_iocache2.c: a correct tell() for SEQ_READ_APPEND caches (my_b_tell() is not working for such caches). sql/ha_innodb.cc: we are getting rid of event lengthes here and there, which is good. sql/log.cc: Start events will have created==0 if generated by rotation (like in 3.23). In 5.0 we always write a Format_description_log_event at the beginning of every master's binary log and of every slave's relay log. We also add Rotate and Stop to relay logs (like there already was in master's binary logs). When we rotate a relay log, we write the previous relay log's Start event (the one which was sent from the master) to the beginning of the new log, so that we don't need the previous relay log to understand the new one; that's the purpose of MYSQL_LOG::description_event_for_queue. Removed logging of SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS, because we handle it as flags in the Query event now. sql/log_event.cc: New event type: Format_description_log_event, to describe the log's format. read_log_event() needs to be passed this event to be able to read 5.0 events. Query_log_event has new members flags2 and sql_mode for replication of session variables (except charsets which are WL#1062) and SQL_MODE. flags2 is in fact a kind of copy of thd->options (&'d with a mask). Now with this replication of FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS, SQL_AUTO_IS_NULL, UNIQUE_CHECKS and SQL_MODE work; with mysqlbinlog too. sql/log_event.h: Binlog version is changed to 4. New classes (details in sql/log_event.cc). Removing some useless #defines. sql/mysql_priv.h: Definition of SELECT_DISTINCT and others must be visible in client/mysqlbinlog.cc, so adding #ifdefs. sql/mysqld.cc: update for prototype change sql/slave.cc: When the slave opens a relay log, it reads the first few events to know the format. When slave I/O thread receives a Rotate from the master, it rotates its relay log (to avoid mixed format in the relay log). sql/slave.h: in the slave we avoid lengthes and rely on absolute positions instead; hence the introduction of future_group_master_log_pos and future_event_relay_log_pos (explained in code). sql/sql_class.cc: catalog in THD sql/sql_class.h: catalog, and new members in MYSQL_LOG sql/sql_repl.cc: When the master starts sending binlog to slave, it must first read the first few events to detect the binlog's format. Same for SHOW BINLOG EVENTS. |

Fix for BUG#2045 "Sending SIGHUP to mysqld crashes it if running with --log-bin".
The constructor of Rotate_log_event used when we are rotating our binlog or relay log, should not assume that there is a nonzero THD available. For example, when we are reacting to SIGHUP, the THD is 0. In fact we don't need to use the THD in this constructor; we can do like for Stop_log_event, and use the minimal Log_event constructor. If we were allowed to put Unix-specific commands in the testsuite, I'd add a test for this (<sigh>). sql/log.cc: A comment to warn that thd can be 0. The part about LOG_EVENT_FORCED_ROTATE_F is just to avoid segfault; this flag is already removed in 4.1 anyway. sql/log_event.cc: A comment. sql/log_event.h: The constructor of Rotate_log_event used when we are rotating our binlog or relay log, should not assume that there is a nonzero THD available. Patch written by me, tested by Miguel (thanks!) and it works. sql/log.cc: changed the comment to mean the truth sql/log_event.cc: When you finish replicating LOAD DATA INFILE, close the SQL_LOADxxx.data file before deleting it, or Windows will refuse to delete. No need to do the same thing for the SQL_LOADxxx.data file, it's not opened at this moment. |

Clearer states in SHOW PROCESSLIST for replication threads.
For example the Binlog_dump thread (on the master) sometimes showed "Slave:". And there were confusing messages where "binlog" was employed instead of "relay log". sql/log.cc: MYSQL_LOG::wait_for_update() is used by the binlog_dump and I/Oslave threads, and it updates thd->proc_info, so we need a bool to not show the same proc_info for 2 different things (previously we showed "Slave: etc" and that's bad for a binlog_dump thread). sql/slave.cc: Clearer thd-proc_info for slave threads. sql/sql_class.h: prototype change sql/sql_repl.cc: clearer thd->proc_info for binlog_dump thread |

2 minor edits, plus
fix for BUG#1113 "INSERT into non-trans table SELECT ; ROLLBACK" does not send warning" and fix for BUG#873 "In transaction, INSERT to non-trans table is written too early to binlog". Now we don't always write the non-trans update immediately to the binlog; if there is something in the binlog cache we write it to the binlog cache (because the non-trans update could depend on a trans table which was modified earlier in the transaction); then in case of ROLLBACK, we write the binlog cache to the binlog, wrapped with BEGIN/ROLLBACK. This guarantees that the slave does the same updates. For ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT: when we execute a SAVEPOINT command we write it to the binlog cache. At ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT, if some non-trans table was updated, we write ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT to the binlog cache; when the transaction terminates (COMMIT/ROLLBACK), the binlog cache will be flushed to the binlog (because of the non-trans update) so we'll have SAVEPOINT and ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT in the binlog. Apart from this rare case of updates of mixed table types in transaction, the usual way is still clear the binlog cache at ROLLBACK, or chop it at ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT (meaning the SAVEPOINT command is also chopped, which is fine). Note that BUG#873 encompasses subbugs 1) and 2) of BUG#333 "3 binlogging bugs when doing INSERT with mixed InnoDB/MyISAM". client/mysqldump.c: Minor edit: one CHANGE MASTER with 2 arguments instead of 2 CHANGE MASTER with one argument each. mysql-test/r/rpl_loaddata.result: result update mysql-test/t/rpl_loaddata.test: minor edit: simplifying the test. sql/handler.cc: Fix for BUG#873. See comments in code, and the description of the changeset. sql/log.cc: * Previously, if a query updated a non-transactional table we wrote it immediately to the real binlog. This causes a bug when the update is done inside a transaction and uses the content of an updated transactional table (because this makes a wrong order of queries in the binlog). So if the binlog cache is not empty, we write the query to the binlog cache; otherwise we can write it to the binlog. * Previously, when we flushed the binlog cache to the binlog, we wrapped it with BEGIN/COMMIT. Now it's also possible to wrap it with BEGIN/ROLLBACK, to handle transactions which update both transactional and non-transactional tables. sql/log_event.cc: The slave thread can leave a transaction if COMMIT or if ROLLBACK. sql/sql_class.h: prototype sql/sql_insert.cc: Fix for BUG#1113: this was because the INSERT SELECT code did not set OPTION_STATUS_NO_TRANS_UPDATE. sql/sql_parse.cc: Don't send ER_WARNING_NOT_COMPLETE_ROLLBACK if this is the SQL slave thread (see comments). |

First commit for fixing BUG#1100
"LOAD DATA INFILE is badly filtered by binlog-*-db rules". There will probably be a second final one to merge Dmitri's changes to rpl_log.result and mine. 2 new tests: rpl_loaddata_rule_m : test of logging of LOAD DATA INFILE when the master has binlog-*-db rules, rpl_loaddata_rule_s : test of logging of LOAD DATA INFILE when the slave has binlog-*-db rules and --log-slave-updates. mysql-test/r/rpl_loaddata.result: Test that logging of LOAD DATA INFILE is done on the slave mysql-test/t/rpl_loaddata.test: Test that logging of LOAD DATA is done on the slave sql/log.cc: debug info sql/log_event.cc: * Append_block, Exec_load and Delete_file now have a member 'db' like Create_file. This member is filled by mysql_load(). It is used for filtering by binlog-*-db rules, that's all. It's not written to the binlog, and so can't be read from the binlog. In other words, that's temporary info which is stored in the event and lost when it is written and deleted. * Better error messages in Append_block et al. events. * The slave now logs (log-slave-updates) the Create_file et al. events in mysql_load() (they are not directly copied from the events in the relay log, because this prevented filtering by binlog-*-db rules). Before, mysql_load() in the slave did no logging, now it does the logging, as in any regular thread. sql/log_event.h: New member 'db' for Append_block et al. events. sql/slave.cc: Removed useless code. Why was it useless: - CREATE_FILE_EVENT is not defined in 3.23. It appeared in 4.0. - in queue_old_event(), which is called only if the master is 3.23, we had a case CREATE_FILE_EVENT: so this case can be removed. - this case was the only caller of process_io_create_file() so this function can be removed. sql/sql_load.cc: Pass the db to events, so that they can be well filtered. sql/sql_repl.cc: Pass the db to events so that they can be well filtered. |
