71e0ff64f0 Bug#12727287: Maintainer mode compilation fails with gcc 4.6
GCC 4.6 has new -Wunused-but-set-variable flag, which is enabled
by -Wall, that causes GCC to emit a warning whenever a local variable
is assigned to, but otherwise unused (aside from its declaration).

Since the maintainer mode uses -Wall and -Werror, source code which
triggers these warnings will be rejected. That is, these warnings
become hard errors.

The solution is to fix the code which triggers these specific warnings.
In most of the cases, this is a welcome cleanup as code which triggers
this warning is probably dead anyway.

dbug/dbug.c:
  Unused but set.
libmysqld/lib_sql.cc:
Length is not necessary as the converted error message is always
  null-terminated.
sql/item_func.cc:
Make get_var_with_binlog private to this compilation unit.
If a error was raised, do not attempt to evaluate the user
variable as the statement execution will be interrupted
  anyway.
sql/mysqld.cc:
Use a void expression to silence the warning. Avoids the use of
macros that would make the code more unreadable than it already is.
sql/protocol.cc:
Length is not necessary as the converted error message is always
null-terminated. Remove unnecessary casts and assignment.
sql/sql_class.h:
Function is only used in a single compilation unit.
sql/sql_load.cc:
Only use the variable outside of EMBEDDED_LIBRARY.
storage/innobase/btr/btr0cur.c:
Do not retrieve field, only the record length is being used.
storage/perfschema/pfs.cc:
Use a void expression to silence the warning.
tests/mysql_client_test.c:
  Unused but set.
unittest/mysys/lf-t.c:
  Unused but set.

5047a6382c Bug#11902767/Bug#60580: Statement improperly replicated crashes slave SQL thread
If LOAD DATA INFILE featured a SET clause, the name=value pairs
would be regenerated using item::print. Unfortunately, that code
is mostly optimized for EXPLAIN EXTENDED output and such, and can
not be relied on to return valid SQL.

We now name each value its original, user-supplied form and use
that to create LOAD DATA INFILE statements for statement-based
replication.

sql/sql_load.cc:
Do not try to item::print values in LOAD DATA INFILE's
SET clause; they might not even be valid SQL at this
point. Use our saved version instead.
sql/sql_yacc.yy:
If LOAD DATA INFILE has SET name=val clauses, tag the
individual val-parts with the user's version so we can
later replicate that, rather than the smashed pieces
we'd get from item::print once the optimizer's through
  with our poor values.

59d7516005 Bug #11764517: 57359: POSSIBLE TO CIRCUMVENT SECURE_FILE_PRIV
USING '..' ON WINDOWS

Backport of the fix to 5.0 (to be null-merged to 5.1).
Moved the test into the main test suite.
Made mysql-test-run.pl to not use symlinks for sdtdata as the symlinks
are now properly recognized by secure_file_priv.
Made sure the paths in load_file(), LOAD DATA and SELECT .. INTO OUTFILE
that are checked against secure_file_priv in a correct way similarly to 5.1
by the extended is_secure_file_path() backport before the comparison.
Added an extensive test with all the variants of upper/lower case,
slash/backslash and case sensitivity.
Added few comments to the code.

bba7b9ca0c Bug#11765139 58069: LOAD DATA INFILE: VALGRIND REPORTS INVALID MEMORY READS AND WRITES WITH U
Some multibyte sequences could be considered by my_mbcharlen() functions
as multibyte character but more exact my_ismbchar() does not think so.
In such a case this multibyte sequences is pushed into 'stack' buffer which
is too small to accommodate the sequence.
The fix is to allocate stack buffer in
compliance with max character length.

dc65d9217c Fix for Bug#11765141 - "58072: LOAD DATA INFILE: LEAKS IO CACHE MEMORY WHEN ERROR OCCURS"
mysql-test/t/loaddata.test:
test for bug; without fix, running the test with --valgrind would show the leak
  and make the test fail.
sql/sql_load.cc:
  * In READ_INFO class, 'need_end_io_cache' is true as long as init_io_cache() was called,
so if it's true, we need to call end_io_cache(), to free memory allocated
by init_io_cache(). No matter the value of 'error'. In the bug's scenario,
'error' was set to true in read_sep_field() because
'1' (read from file) isn't suitable to load into a geometric column. Because of
  'error', end_io_cache() was not called.
Note: end_io_cache() calls my_b_flush_io_cache(), which will do nothing wrong given
that the file is opened for reads only; see the init_io_cache() call which uses
  only those read-only types:
  (get_it_from_net) ? READ_NET : (is_fifo ? READ_FIFO : READ_CACHE).
IF the cache were rather used to write to the file, my_b_flush_io_cache() may
write to it, and it may be questionable to write to the file
if 'error' is true. But here there's no problem.
  * Now that 'need_end_io_cache' is checked even if 'error' is true, it needs
to be initialized in all cases.
  * Bonus: move some variables to the initialization list.

4de5140327 BUG#59267 LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE not executed on slave with SBR
On windows, an #endif in a wrong place was causing an early
return from mysql_load and thus the LOAD DATA LOCAL was not
executed. This problem was fixed by moving the #endif to the
right place.

The following code was missing

  if ((stat_info.st_mode & S_IFIFO) == S_IFIFO)
    is_fifo = 1;

which is required to properly configure and read from the
IO_CACHE when a named pipe is used. So it was re-introduced
before the #endif.

647c619393 BUG#46166: MYSQL_BIN_LOG::new_file_impl is not propagating error
when generating new name.

If find_uniq_filename returns an error, then this error is not
being propagated upwards, and execution does not report error to
the user (although a entry in the error log is generated).

Additionally, some more errors were ignored in new_file_impl:
- when writing the rotate event
- when reopening the index and binary log file

This patch addresses this by propagating the error up in the
execution stack. Furthermore, when rotation of the binary log
fails, an incident event is written, because there may be a
chance that some changes for a given statement, were not properly
logged. For example, in SBR, LOAD DATA INFILE statement requires
more than one event to be logged, should rotation fail while
logging part of the LOAD DATA events, then the logged data would
become inconsistent with the data in the storage engine.

mysql-test/include/restart_mysqld.inc:
Refactored restart_mysqld so that it is not hardcoded for
mysqld.1, but rather for the current server.
mysql-test/suite/binlog/t/binlog_index.test:
The error on open of index and binary log on new_file_impl
is now caught. Thence the user will get an error message.
We need to accomodate this change in the test case for the
  failing FLUSH LOGS.
mysql-test/suite/rpl/t/rpl_binlog_errors-master.opt:
  Sets max_binlog_size to 4096.
mysql-test/suite/rpl/t/rpl_binlog_errors.test:
Added some test cases for asserting that the error is found
  and reported.
sql/handler.cc:
Catching error now returned by unlog (in ha_commit_trans) and
  returning it.
sql/log.cc:
Propagating errors from new_file_impl upwards. The errors that
  new_file_impl catches now are:
  - error on generate_new_name
  - error on writing the rotate event
  - error when opening the index or the binary log file.
sql/log.h:
  Changing declaration of:
  - rotate_and_purge
  - new_file
  - new_file_without_locking
  - new_file_impl
  - unlog
They now return int instead of void.
sql/mysql_priv.h:
Change signature of reload_acl_and_cache so that write_to_binlog
is an int instead of bool.
sql/mysqld.cc:
Redeclaring not_used var as int instead of bool.
sql/rpl_injector.cc:
Changes to catch the return from rotate_and_purge.
sql/slave.cc:
Changes to catch the return values for new_file and rotate_relay_log.
sql/slave.h:
Changes to rotate_relay_log declaration (now returns int
  instead of void).
sql/sql_load.cc:
In SBR, some logging of LOAD DATA events goes through
  IO_CACHE_CALLBACK invocation at mf_iocache.c:_my_b_get. The
IO_CACHE implementation is ignoring the return value for from
these callbacks (pre_read and post_read), so we need to find out
at the end of the execution if the error is set or not in THD.
sql/sql_parse.cc:
Catching the rotate_relay_log and rotate_and_purge return values.
Semantic change in reload_acl_and_cache so that we report errors
in binlog interactions through the write_to_binlog output parameter.
If there was any failure while rotating the binary log, we should
then report the error to the client when handling SQLCOMM_FLUSH.

faf54ff95c Bug #56709: Memory leaks at running the 5.1 test suite
Fixed a number of memory leaks discovered by valgrind.

dbug/dbug.c:
This is actually an addendum to the fix for bug #52629:

  - there is no point in limiting the fix to just global
variables, session ones are also affected.
  - zero all fields when allocating a new 'state' structure so
that FreeState() does not deal with unitialized data later.
  - add a check for a NULL pointer in DBUGCloseFile()

Added a test case for bug #56709.
mysql-test/t/variables_debug.test:
Added a test case for bug #56709.
sql/item_timefunc.cc:
There is no point in declaring 'value' as a member of
Item_extract and dynamically allocating memory for it in
Item_extract::fix_length_and_dec(), since this string is only
used as a temporary storage in Item_extract::val_int().
sql/item_timefunc.h:
Removed 'value' from the Item_extract class definition.
sql/sql_load.cc:
  - we may need to deallocate 'buffer' even when 'error' is
non-zero in some cases, since 'error' is public, and there is
    external code modifying it.
  - assign NULL to buffer when deallocating it so that we don't
do it twice in the destructor
  - there is no point in changing 'error' in the destructor.

dbb643d64e Bug #51876: crash/memory underrun when loading data with ucs2
and reverse() function

3 problems fixed :
1. The reported problem : caused by incorrect parsing of
the file as ucs data resulting in wrong length of the parsed
string. Fixed by truncating the invalid trailing bytes
(non-complete multibyte characters) when reading from the file
2. LOAD DATA when reading from a proper UCS2 file wasn't
recognizing the new line characters. Fixed by first looking
if a byte is a new line (or any other special) character before
reading it as a part of a multibyte character.
3. When using user variables to hold the column data in LOAD
DATA the character set of the user variable was set incorrectly
to the database charset. Fixed by setting it to the charset
specified by LOAD DATA (if any).

f56dd32bf7 Bug#34043: Server loops excessively in _checkchunk() when safemalloc is enabled
Essentially, the problem is that safemalloc is excruciatingly
slow as it checks all allocated blocks for overrun at each
memory management primitive, yielding a almost exponential
slowdown for the memory management functions (malloc, realloc,
free). The overrun check basically consists of verifying some
bytes of a block for certain magic keys, which catches some
simple forms of overrun. Another minor problem is violation
of aliasing rules and that its own internal list of blocks
is prone to corruption.

Another issue with safemalloc is rather the maintenance cost
as the tool has a significant impact on the server code.
Given the magnitude of memory debuggers available nowadays,
especially those that are provided with the platform malloc
implementation, maintenance of a in-house and largely obsolete
memory debugger becomes a burden that is not worth the effort
due to its slowness and lack of support for detecting more
common forms of heap corruption.

Since there are third-party tools that can provide the same
functionality at a lower or comparable performance cost, the
solution is to simply remove safemalloc. Third-party tools
can provide the same functionality at a lower or comparable
performance cost.

The removal of safemalloc also allows a simplification of the
malloc wrappers, removing quite a bit of kludge: redefinition
of my_malloc, my_free and the removal of the unused second
argument of my_free. Since free() always check whether the
supplied pointer is null, redudant checks are also removed.

Also, this patch adds unit testing for my_malloc and moves
my_realloc implementation into the same file as the other
memory allocation primitives.

client/mysqldump.c:
Pass my_free directly as its signature is compatible with the
callback type -- which wasn't the case for free_table_ent.
