Bug #47313 assert in check_key_in_view during CALL procedure
View definitions are inlined in a stored procedure when the procedure
is fist called. This means that if a temporary table is later added
with the same name as the view, the stored procedure will still
use the view. This happens even if temporary tables normally shadow
base tables/views.
The reason for the assert was that even if the stored procedure
referenced the view, open_table() still tried to open the
temporary table. This "half view/half temporary table" state
caused the assert.
The bug was not present in 5.1 as open_table() is not called
for the view there. This code was changed with the introduction
of MDL in order to properly lock the view and any objects it
refers to.
This patch fixes the problem by instructing open_table()
to open base tables/views (using OT_BASE_ONLY) when reopening
tables/views used by stored procedures. This also means that
a prepared statement is no longer invalidated if a temporary
table is created with the same name as a view used in the
prepared statement.
Test case added to sp.test. The test case also demonstrates
the effect of sp cache invalidation between CALLs.

There should be indeed no Note present because there is in fact autoincrement
top-level query in sp() that triggers inserting in yet another auto-inc table.

WL#3726 "DDL locking for all metadata objects".
After review fixes in progress.
------------------------------------------------------------
This is the first patch in series. It transforms the metadata
locking subsystem to use a dedicated module (mdl.h,cc). No
significant changes in the locking protocol.
The import passes the test suite with the exception of
deprecated/removed 6.0 features, and MERGE tables. The latter
are subject to a fix by WL#4144.
Unfortunately, the original changeset comments got lost in a merge,
thus this import has its own (largely insufficient) comments.
This patch fixes Bug#25144 "replication / binlog with view breaks".
Warning: this patch introduces an incompatible change:
Under LOCK TABLES, it's no longer possible to FLUSH a table that
was not locked for WRITE.
Under LOCK TABLES, it's no longer possible to DROP a table or
VIEW that was not locked for WRITE.

WL#3726 "DDL locking for all metadata objects".
Fix for assert failures in kill.test which occured when one
tried to kill ALTER TABLE statement on merge table while it
was waiting in wait_while_table_is_used() for other connections
to close this table.
These assert failures stemmed from the fact that cleanup code
in this case assumed that temporary table representing new
version of table was open with adding to THD::temporary_tables
list while code which were opening this temporary table wasn't
always fulfilling this.
This patch changes code that opens new version of table to
always do this linking in. It also streamlines cleanup process
for cases when error occurs while we have new version of table
open.

message:
Bug#36649: Condition area is not properly cleaned up after stored routine invocation
The problem is that the diagnostics area of a trigger is not
isolated from the area of the statement that caused the trigger
invocation. In MySQL terms, it means that warnings generated
during the execution of the trigger are not removed from the
"warning area" at the end of the execution.
Before this fix, the rules for MySQL message list life cycle (see
manual entry for SHOW WARNINGS) did not apply to statements
inside stored programs:
- The manual says that the list of messages is cleared by a
statement that uses a table (any table). However, such
statement, if run inside a stored program did not clear the
message list.
- The manual says that the list is cleared by a statement that
generates a new error or a warning, but this was not the case
with stored program statements either and is changed to be the
case as well.
In other words, after this fix, a statement has the same effect
on the message list regardless of whether it's executed inside a
stored program/sub-statement or not.
This introduces an incompatible change:
- before this fix, a, e.g. statement inside a trigger could
never clear the global warning list
- after this fix, a trigger that generates a warning or uses a
table, clears the global warning list
- however, when we leave a trigger or a function, the caller's
warning information is restored (see more on this below).
This change is not backward compatible as it is intended to make
MySQL behavior similar to the SQL standard behavior:
A stored function or trigger will get its own "warning area" (or,
in standard terminology, diagnostics area). At the beginning of
the stored function or trigger, all messages from the caller area
will be copied to the area of the trigger. During execution, the
message list will be cleared according to the MySQL rules
described on the manual (SHOW WARNINGS entry). At the end of the
function/trigger, the "warning area" will be destroyed along with
all warnings it contains, except that if the last statement of
the function/trigger generated messages, these are copied into
the "warning area" of the caller.
Consequently, statements that use a table or generate a warning
*will* clear warnings inside the trigger, but that will have no
effect to the warning list of the calling (outer) statement.

strict SQL mode
The problem was that a COMMENT longer than 64 characters
caused CREATE PROCEDURE to fail.
This patch fixed the problem by changing the COMMENT field in
mysql.proc from char(64) to text. The corresponding ROUTINE_COMMENT
field in INFORMATION_SCHEMA.ROUTINES is also changed from
varchar(64) to longtext.
mysql_system_tables.sql and mysql_system_tables_fix.sql updated.

on subquery inside a SP
Problem: repeated call of a SP containing an incorrect query with a
subselect may lead to failed ASSERT().
Fix: set proper sublelect's state in case of error occured during
subquery transformation.
Error happens because sp_head::MULTI_RESULTS is not set for SP
which has 'show table status' command.
The fix is to add a SQLCOM_SHOW_TABLE_STATUS case into
sp_get_flags_for_command() func.
Various parts of code used different 'precision' arguments for sprintf("%g") when converting
floating point numbers to a string. This led to differences in results in some cases
depending on whether the text-based or prepared statements protocol is used for a query.
Fixed by changing arguments to sprintf("%g") to always be 15 (DBL_DIG) so that results are
consistent regardless of the protocol.
This patch will be null-merged to 6.0 as the problem does not exists there (fixed by the
patch for WL#2934).
fails after the first time
Two separate problems :
1. When flattening joins the linked list used for name resolution
(next_name_resolution_table) was not updated.
Fixed by updating the pointers when extending the table list
2. The items created by expanding a * (star) as a column reference
were marked as fixed, but no cached table was assigned to them
(unlike what Item_field::fix_fields does).
Fixed by assigning a cached table (so the re-preparation is done
faster).
Note that the fix for #2 hides the fix for #1 in most cases
(except when a table reference cannot be cached).
The problem is that field names constructed due to wild-card
expansion done inside a stored procedure could point to freed
memory if the expansion was performed after the first call to
the stored procedure.
The problem was solved by patch for Bug#38691. The solution
was to allocate the database, table and field names in the
in the statement memory instead of table memory.
A stored procedure involving substrings could crash the server on certain
platforms because of invalid memory reads.
During storing the new blob-field value, the cached value's address range
overlapped that of the new field value. This caused problems when the
cached value storage was reallocated to provide access for a new
characater set representation. The patch checks the address ranges, and if
they overlap, the new field value is copied to a new storage before it is
converted to the new character set.
Send_field.org_col_name has broken value on secondary execution.
It happens when result field is created from the field which belongs to view
due to forgotten assignment of some Send_field attributes.
The fix:
set Send_field.org_col_name,org_table_name with correct value during Send_field intialization.
The problem is that one can not create a stored routine if sql_mode
contains NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION or PAD_CHAR_TO_FULL_LENGTH. Also when
a event is created, the mode is silently lost if sql_mode contains one
of the aforementioned. This was happening because the table definitions
which stored sql_mode values weren't being updated to accept new values
of sql_mode.
The solution is to update, in a backwards compatible manner, the various
table definitions (columns) that store the sql_mode value to take into
account the new possible values. One incompatible change is that if a event
that is being created can't be stored to the mysql.event table, an error
will be raised.
The tests case also ensure that new SQL modes will be added to the mysql.proc
and mysql.event tables, otherwise the tests will fail.
Simple subselects are pulled into upper selects. This operation substitutes the
pulled subselect for the first item from the select list of the subselect.
If an alias is defined for a subselect it is inherited by the replacement item.
As this is done after fix_fields phase this alias isn't showed if the
replacement item is a stored function. This happens because the Item_func_sp::make_field
function makes send field from its result_field and ignores the defined alias.
Now when an alias is defined the Item_func_sp::make_field function sets it for
the returned field.
Bug 33983 (Stored Procedures: wrong end <label> syntax is accepted)
The server used to crash when REPEAT or another control instruction
was used in conjunction with labels and a LEAVE instruction.
The crash was caused by a missing "pop" of handlers or cursors in the
code representing the stored program. When executing the code in a loop,
this missing "pop" would result in a stack overflow, corrupting memory.
Code generation has been fixed to produce the missing h_pop/c_pop
instructions.
Also, the logic checking that labels at the beginning and the end of a
statement are matched was incorrect, causing Bug 33983.
End labels, when used, must match the label used at the beginning of a block.
