- Simplified use_trans_cache() to return at once if is_transactional is set
- Indentation and spelling errors fixed
- Don't call signal_update() if update_binlog_end_pos() is called as the
function already calls signal_update()
- Removed not used function wait_for_update_bin_log(), which would cause
errors if ever used.
- Simplified handler::clone() by always allocating 'ref' in ha_open(). To do
this I added an optional MEM_ROOT argument to ha_open() to be used when
allocating 'ref'
- Changed arguments to get_system_var() from LEX_CSTRING to LEX_CSTRING*
- Added THD as argument to create_select_for_variable(). Changed also char*
argument to LEX_CSTRING to avoid strlen() call.
- Change calls to append() to use LEX_CSTRING
- Added sql/mariadb.h file that should be included first by files in sql
directory, if sql_plugin.h is not used (sql_plugin.h adds SHOW variables
that must be done before my_global.h is included)
- Removed a lot of include my_global.h from include files
- Removed include's of some files that my_global.h automatically includes
- Removed duplicated include's of my_sys.h
- Replaced include my_config.h with my_global.h
Don't write to a temporary file, use String.
Remove strange one-liner "helpers", use String methods.
Don't use current_thd, don't allocate memory for 1-byte strings, etc.
The problems were in the code of sql_show.cc. There the tables
could be opened in such a way that mysql_derived_init() never
worked for CTE tables. As a result they were not marked as
derived and mysql_handle_derived() were not called for derived
tables used in their specifications.
The problem lies in not checking role privileges as well during SHOW
DATABASES command. This problem is also apparent for SHOW CREATE
DATABASE command.
Other SHOW COMMANDS make use of check_access, which in turn makes use of
acl_get for both priv_user and priv_role parts, which allows them to
function correctly.
- Changed names of SEQUENCE table columns to be more close to ANSI
- Fixed error message for SHOW SEQUENCE non_existing_sequence
- Allow syntax CACHE +1
- Fixed ALTER TABLE for TEMPORARY sequences.

- Adding Type_handler::make_table_field() and moving pieces of the code
from Item::tmp_table_field_from_field_type() to virtual implementations
for various type handlers.
- Adding a new Type_all_attributes, to access to Item's extended
attributes, such as decimal_precision() and geometry_type().
- Adding a new class Record_addr, to pass record related information
to Type_handler methods (ptr, null_ptr and null_bit) as a single structure.
Note, later it will possibly be extended for BIT-alike field purposes,
by adding new members (bit_ptr_arg, bit_ofs_arg).
- Moving the code from Field_new_decimal::create_from_item()
to Type_handler_newdecimal::make_table_field().
- Removing Field_new_decimal() and Field_geom() helper constructor
variants that were used for temporary field creation.
- Adding Item_field::type_handler(), Field::type_handler() and
Field_blob::type_handler() to return correct type handlers for
blob variants, according to Field_blob::packlength.
- Adding Type_handler_blob_common, as a common parent for
Type_handler_tiny_blob, Type_handler_blob, Type_handler_medium_blob
and Type_handler_long_blob.
- Implementing Type_handler_blob_common::Item_hybrid_func_fix_attributes().
It's needed for cases when TEXT variants of different character sets are mixed
in LEAST, GREATEST, CASE and its abreviations (IF, IFNULL, COALESCE), e.g.:
CREATE TABLE t1 (
a TINYTEXT CHARACTER SET latin1,
b TINYTEXT CHARACTER SET utf8
);
CREATE TABLE t2 AS SELECT COALESCE(a,b) FROM t1;
Type handler aggregation returns TINYTEXT as a common data type
for the two columns. But as conversion from latin1 to utf8
happens for "a", the maximum possible length of "a" grows from 255 to 255*3.
Type_handler_blob_common::Item_hybrid_func_fix_attributes() makes sure
to update the blob type handler according to max_length.
- Adding Type_handler::blob_type_handler(uint max_octet_length).
- Adding a few m_type_aggregator_for_result.add() pairs, because
now Item_xxx::type_handler() can return pointers to type_handler_tiny_blob,
type_handler_blob, type_handler_medium_blob, type_handler_long_blob.
Before the patch only type_handler_blob was possible result of type_handler().
- Making type_handler_tiny_blob, type_handler_blob, type_handler_medium_blob,
type_handler_long_blob public.
- Removing the condition in Item_sum_avg::create_tmp_field()
checking Item_sum_avg::result_type() against DECIMAL_RESULT.
Now both REAL_RESULT and DECIMAL_RESULT are symmetrically handled
by tmp_table_field_from_field_type().
- Removing Item_geometry_func::create_field_for_create_select(),
as the inherited version perfectly works.
- Fixing Item_func_as_wkb::field_type() to return MYSQL_TYPE_LONG_BLOB
rather than MYSQL_TYPE_BLOB. It's needed to make sure that
tmp_table_field_from_field_type() creates a LONGBLOB field for AsWKB().
- Fixing Item_func_as_wkt::fix_length_and_dec() to set max_length to
UINT32_MAX rather than MAX_BLOB_WIDTH, to make sure that
tmp_table_field_from_field_type() creates a LONGTEXT field for AsWKT().
- Removing Item_func_set_user_var::create_field_for_create_select(),
as the inherited version works fine.
- Adding Item_func_get_user_var::create_field_for_create_select() to
make sure that "CREATE TABLE t1 AS SELECT @string_user variable"
always creates a field of LONGTEXT/LONGBLOB type.
- Item_func_ifnull::create_field_for_create_select()
behavior has changed. Before the patch it passed set_blob_packflag=false,
which meant to create LONGBLOB for all blob variants.
Now it takes into account max_length, which gives better column
data types for:
CREATE TABLE t2 AS SELECT IFNULL(blob_column1, blob_column2) FROM t1;
- Fixing Item_func_nullif::fix_length_and_dec() to use
set_handler(args[2]->type_handler()) instead of
set_handler_by_field_type(args[2]->field_type()).
This is needed to distinguish between BLOB variants.
- Implementing Item_blob::type_handler(), to make sure to create
proper BLOB field variant, according to max_length, for queries like:
CREATE TABLE t1 AS
SELECT some_blob_field FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SOME_TABLE;
- Fixing Item_field::real_type_handler() to make sure that
the code aggregating fields for UNION gets a proper BLOB
variant type handler from fields.
- Adding a special code into Item_type_holder::make_field_by_type(),
to make sure that after aggregating field types it also properly
takes into account max_length when mixing TEXT variants of different
character sets and chooses a proper TEXT variant:
CREATE TABLE t1 (
a TINYTEXT CHARACTER SET latin1,
b TINYTEXT CHARACTER SET utf8
);
CREATE TABLE t2 AS SELECT a FROM t1 UNION SELECT b FROM t1;
- Adding tests, for better coverage of IFNULL, NULLIF, UNION.
- The fact that tmp_table_field_from_field_type() now takes
into account BLOB variants (instead of always creating LONGBLOB),
tests results for WEIGHT_STRING() and NULLIF() and UNION
have become more precise.
Benefits of this patch:
- Removed a lot of calls to strlen(), especially for field_string
- Strings generated by parser are now const strings, less chance of
accidently changing a string
- Removed a lot of calls with LEX_STRING as parameter (changed to pointer)
- More uniform code
- Item::name_length was not kept up to date. Now fixed
- Several bugs found and fixed (Access to null pointers,
access of freed memory, wrong arguments to printf like functions)
- Removed a lot of casts from (const char*) to (char*)
Changes:
- This caused some ABI changes
- lex_string_set now uses LEX_CSTRING
- Some fucntions are now taking const char* instead of char*
- Create_field::change and after changed to LEX_CSTRING
- handler::connect_string, comment and engine_name() changed to LEX_CSTRING
- Checked printf() related calls to find bugs. Found and fixed several
errors in old code.
- A lot of changes from LEX_STRING to LEX_CSTRING, especially related to
parsing and events.
- Some changes from LEX_STRING and LEX_STRING & to LEX_CSTRING*
- Some changes for char* to const char*
- Added printf argument checking for my_snprintf()
- Introduced null_clex_str, star_clex_string, temp_lex_str to simplify
code
- Added item_empty_name and item_used_name to be able to distingush between
items that was given an empty name and items that was not given a name
This is used in sql_yacc.yy to know when to give an item a name.
- select table_name."*' is not anymore same as table_name.*
- removed not used function Item::rename()
- Added comparision of item->name_length before some calls to
my_strcasecmp() to speed up comparison
- Moved Item_sp_variable::make_field() from item.h to item.cc
- Some minimal code changes to avoid copying to const char *
- Fixed wrong error message in wsrep_mysql_parse()
- Fixed wrong code in find_field_in_natural_join() where real_item() was
set when it shouldn't
- ER_ERROR_ON_RENAME was used with extra arguments.
- Removed some (wrong) ER_OUTOFMEMORY, as alloc_root will already
give the error.
TODO:
- Check possible unsafe casts in plugin/auth_examples/qa_auth_interface.c
- Change code to not modify LEX_CSTRING for database name
(as part of lower_case_table_names)
Working features:
CREATE OR REPLACE [TEMPORARY] SEQUENCE [IF NOT EXISTS] name
[ INCREMENT [ BY | = ] increment ]
[ MINVALUE [=] minvalue | NO MINVALUE ]
[ MAXVALUE [=] maxvalue | NO MAXVALUE ]
[ START [ WITH | = ] start ] [ CACHE [=] cache ] [ [ NO ] CYCLE ]

SELECT NEXT VALUE FOR sequence_name;
SELECT NEXTVAL(sequence_name);
SELECT PREVIOUS VALUE FOR sequence_name;
SELECT LASTVAL(sequence_name);
SHOW CREATE SEQUENCE sequence_name;
SHOW CREATE TABLE sequence_name;
CREATE TABLE sequence-structure ... SEQUENCE=1
ALTER TABLE sequence RENAME TO sequence2;
RENAME TABLE sequence TO sequence2;
DROP [TEMPORARY] SEQUENCE [IF EXISTS] sequence_names
Missing features
- SETVAL(value,sequence_name), to be used with replication.
- Check replication, including checking that sequence tables are marked
not transactional.
- Check that a commit happens for NEXT VALUE that changes table data (may
already work)
- ALTER SEQUENCE. ANSI SQL version of setval.
- Share identical sequence entries to not add things twice to table list.
- testing insert/delete/update/truncate/load data
- Run and fix Alibaba sequence tests (part of mysql-test/suite/sql_sequence)
- Write documentation for NEXT VALUE / PREVIOUS_VALUE
- NEXTVAL in DEFAULT
- Ensure that NEXTVAL in DEFAULT uses database from base table
- Two NEXTVAL for same row should give same answer.
- Oracle syntax sequence_table.nextval, without any FOR or FROM.
- Sequence tables are treated as 'not read constant tables' by SELECT; Would
be better if we would have a separate list for sequence tables so that
select doesn't know about them, except if refereed to with FROM.
Other things done:
- Improved output for safemalloc backtrack
- frm_type_enum changed to Table_type
- Removed lex->is_view and replaced with lex->table_type. This allows
use to more easy check if item is view, sequence or table.
- Added table flag HA_CAN_TABLES_WITHOUT_ROLLBACK, needed for handlers
that want's to support sequences
- Added handler calls:
- engine_name(), to simplify getting engine name for partition and sequences
- update_first_row(), to be able to do efficient sequence implementations.
- Made binlog_log_row() global to be able to call it from ha_sequence.cc
- Added handler variable: row_already_logged, to be able to flag that the
changed row is already logging to replication log.
- Added CF_DB_CHANGE and CF_SCHEMA_CHANGE flags to simplify
deny_updates_if_read_only_option()
- Added sp_add_cfetch() to avoid new conflicts in sql_yacc.yy
- Moved code for add_table_options() out from sql_show.cc::show_create_table()
- Added String::append_longlong() and used it in sql_show.cc to simplify code.
- Added extra option to dd_frm_type() and ha_table_exists to indicate if
the table is a sequence. Needed by DROP SQUENCE to not drop a table.
Added CHECK constraints to I_S.TABLE_CONSTRAINTS.
Fixed a bug regarding virtual column definitions whose name is the field name.
Added test case: check_constraint_show
Try harder to show the table's engine.
If the table's engine is not loaded, the table won't open.
But we can still read the engine name from frm as a string.
Make SELECT <columns> FROM I_S.TABLES behave identically independently
from whether <columns> require opening the table in engine or
<columns> can be filled with only opening the frm.
In particular, fill_schema_table_from_frm() should not silently skip
frms with unknown engine, but should fill the I_S.TABLES row
with NULLs just like fill_schema_table_by_open() does.
A proper InnoDB shutdown after aborted startup was introduced
in commit 81b7fe9d38.
Also related to this is MDEV-11985, making read-only shutdown more robust.
If startup was aborted, there may exist recovered transactions that were
not rolled back. Relax the assertions accordingly.
- Changed error handlers interface so that they can change error level in
the handler
- Give warnings and errors when calculating virtual columns
- On insert/update error is fatal in strict mode.
- SELECT and DELETE will only give a warning if a virtual field generates an error
- Added VCOL_UPDATE_FOR_DELETE and VCOL_UPDATE_INDEX_FOR_REPLACE to be able to
easily detect in update_virtual_fields() if we should use an error
handler to mask errors or not.
otherwise we'd need to store sql_mode *per vcol*
(consider CREATE INDEX...) and how SHOW CREATE TABLE would
support that?
Additionally, get rid of vcol::expr_str, just to make sure
the string is always generated and never leaked in the
original form.
SHOW STATUS LIKE 'pattern' returned Rocksdb_XXX status variables
that had SHOW_FUNC type but didn't match the pattern (for example
Rocksdb_block_cache_add).
Among other things, this caused MTR to assume that each testcase
has damaged the execution environment.
The issue was a unitialized variable and then a typo in the condition
that checks if variable name matches the pattern.
This is similar to MysQL Worklog 3253, but with
a different implementation. The disk format and
SQL syntax is identical with MySQL 5.7.
Fetures supported:
- "Any" ammount of any trigger
- Supports FOLLOWS and PRECEDES to be
able to put triggers in a certain execution order.
Implementation details:
- Class Trigger added to hold information about a trigger.
Before this trigger information was stored in a set of lists in
Table_triggers_list and in Table_triggers_list::bodies
- Each Trigger has a next field that poinst to the next Trigger with the
same action and time.
- When accessing a trigger, we now always access all linked triggers
- The list are now only used to load and save trigger files.
- MySQL trigger test case (trigger_wl3253) added and we execute these
identically.
- Even more gracefully handling of wrong trigger files than before. This
is useful if a trigger file uses functions or syntax not provided by
the server.
- Each trigger now has a "Created" field that shows when the trigger was
created, with 2 decimals.
Other comments:
- Many of the changes in test files was done because of the new "Created"
field in the trigger file. This shows up in SHOW ... TRIGGER and when
using information_schema.trigger.
- Don't check if all memory is released if on uses --gdb; This is needed
to be able to get a list from safemalloc of not freed memory while
debugging.
- Added option to trim_whitespace() to know how many prefix characters
was skipped.
- Changed a few ulonglong sql_mode to sql_mode_t, to find some wrong usage
of sql_mode.
- Force usage of () around complex DEFAULT expressions
- Give error if DEFAULT expression contains invalid characters
- Don't use const_charset_conversion for stored Item_func_sysconf expressions
as the result is not constaint over different executions
- Fixed Item_func_user() to not store calculated value in str_value
MDEV-10134 Add full support for DEFAULT
- Added support for using tables with MySQL 5.7 virtual fields,
including MySQL 5.7 syntax
- Better error messages also for old cases
- CREATE ... SELECT now also updates timestamp columns
- Blob can now have default values
- Added new system variable "check_constraint_checks", to turn of
CHECK constraint checking if needed.
- Removed some engine independent tests in suite vcol to only test myisam
- Moved some tests from 'include' to 't'. Should some day be done for all tests.
- FRM version increased to 11 if one uses virtual fields or constraints
- Changed to use a bitmap to check if a field has got a value, instead of
setting HAS_EXPLICIT_VALUE bit in field flags
- Expressions can now be up to 65K in total
- Ensure we are not refering to uninitialized fields when handling virtual fields or defaults
- Changed check_vcol_func_processor() to return a bitmap of used types
- Had to change some functions that calculated cached value in fix_fields to do
this in val() or getdate() instead.
- store_now_in_TIME() now takes a THD argument
- fill_record() now updates default values
- Add a lookahead for NOT NULL, to be able to handle DEFAULT 1+1 NOT NULL
- Automatically generate a name for constraints that doesn't have a name
- Added support for ALTER TABLE DROP CONSTRAINT
- Ensure that partition functions register virtual fields used. This fixes
some bugs when using virtual fields in a partitioning function
Print default values for BLOB's.
This is a part commit for automatic changes to make the real commit smaller.
All changes here are related to that we now print DEFAULT NULL for blob and
text fields, like we do for all other fields.
item when drop table indexes or drop table;
Problem was that table and index statistics is removed from
persistent tables but not from memory cache. Added functions
to remove table and index statistics from memory cache.
mysqld maintains a list of TABLE objects for all temporary
tables created within a session in THD. Here each table is
represented by a TABLE object.
A query referencing a particular temporary table for more
than once, however, failed with ER_CANT_REOPEN_TABLE error
because a TABLE_SHARE was allocate together with the TABLE,
so temporary tables always had only one TABLE per TABLE_SHARE.
This patch lift this restriction by separating TABLE and
TABLE_SHARE objects and storing TABLE_SHAREs for temporary
tables in a list in THD, and TABLEs in a list within their
respective TABLE_SHAREs.
- Avoid some realloc() during startup
- Ensure that file_key_management_plugin frees it's memory early, even if
it's linked statically.
- Fixed compiler warnings from unused variables and missing destructors
- Fixed wrong indentation
- Removing the "diff_if_only_endspace_difference" argument from
MY_COLLATION_HANDLER::strnncollsp(), my_strnncollsp_simple(),
as well as in the function template MY_FUNCTION_NAME(strnncollsp)
in strcoll.ic
- Removing the "diff_if_only_space_different" from ha_compare_text(),
hp_rec_key_cmp().
- Adding a new function my_strnncollsp_padspace_bin() and reusing
it instead of duplicate code pieces in my_strnncollsp_8bit_bin(),
my_strnncollsp_latin1_de(), my_strnncollsp_tis620(),
my_strnncollsp_utf8_cs().
- Adding more tests for better coverage of the trailing space handling.
- Removing the unused definition of HA_END_SPACE_ARE_EQUAL
filesort and init_read_record() for the same table.
This will simplify code for WINDOW FUNCTIONS (MDEV-6115)
- Filesort_info renamed to SORT_INFO and moved to filesort.h
- filesort now returns SORT_INFO
- init_read_record() now takes a SORT_INFO parameter.
- unique declaration is moved to uniques.h
- subselect caching of buffers is now more explicit than before
- filesort_buffer is now reusable even if rec_length has changed.
- filsort_free_buffers() and free_io_cache() calls are removed
- Remove one malloc() when using get_addon_fields()
Other things:
- Added --debug-assert-on-not-freed-memory option to make it easier to
debug some not-freed-memory issues.
* only copy args[0] to args[2] after fix_fields (when all item
substitutions have already happened)
* change QT_ITEM_FUNC_NULLIF_TO_CASE (that allows to print NULLIF
as CASE) to QT_ITEM_ORIGINAL_FUNC_NULLIF (that prohibits it).
So that NULLIF-to-CASE is allowed by default and only disabled
explicitly for SHOW VIEW|FUNCTION|PROCEDURE and mysql_make_view.
By default it is allowed (in particular in error messages and
debug output, that can happen anytime before or after optimizer).
