from log):
When row-based logging is used, the CREATE-SELECT is written as two
parts: as a CREATE TABLE statement and as the rows for the table. For
both transactional and non-transactional tables, the CREATE TABLE
statement was written to the transaction cache, as were the rows, and
on statement end, the entire transaction cache was written to the binary
log if the table was non-transactional. For transactional tables, the
events were kept in the transaction cache until end of transaction (or
statement that were not part of a transaction).
For the case when AUTOCOMMIT=0 and we are creating a transactional table
using a create select, we would then keep the CREATE TABLE statement and
the rows for the CREATE-SELECT, while executing the following statements.
On a rollback, the transaction cache would then be cleared, which would
also remove the CREATE TABLE statement. Hence no table would be created
on the slave, while there is an empty table on the master.
This relates to BUG#22865 where the table being created exists on the
master, but not on the slave during insertion of rows into the newly
created table. This occurs since the CREATE TABLE statement were still
in the transaction cache until the statement finished executing, and
possibly longer if the table was transactional.
This patch changes the behaviour of the CREATE-SELECT statement by
adding an implicit commit at the end of the statement when creating
non-temporary tables. Hence, non-temporary tables will be written to the
binary log on completion, and in the even of AUTOCOMMIT=0, a new
transaction will be started. Temporary tables do not commit an ongoing
transaction: neither as a pre- not a post-commit.
The events for both transactional and non-transactional tables are
saved in the transaction cache, and written to the binary log at end
of the statement.

taking a fix for testing timed-out behaviour.
sql/slave.cc:
just comments are fixed due to changes in behavior of timed-out msta.
Transaction on the slave sql thread got blocked against a slave's mysqld local ta's
lock. Since the default, slave-transaction-retries=10, there was replaying of the
replicated ta. That failed because of a new started from 5.0.13 policy not to rollback
a timed-out transaction. Effectively the first round of a timed-out ta becomes committed
by the replaying's first "BEGIN".
It was decided to backport already existed method working in 5.1 implemented in
bug #16228 for handling symmetrical deadlock problem. That patch introduced end_trans
execution whenever a replicated ta deadlocks or timed-out.
Note, that this solution can be practically suboptimal - in the light of the changed behavior
due to timeout we still could replay only the last statement - only with a high rate of timeouting
replicated transactions.
mysql-test/r/rpl_deadlock.result:

mysql-test/t/rpl_deadlock.test:
Refining the timeout part of the test to display that the timed-out transaction
is rolled back prior its replaying by slave sql.

sql/slave.cc:
applying bug#16228 fix, approbated for deadlock use case in 5.1, almost verbatim.
Another alternative to replay only the offending statement requires significant
efforts, incl design work.

A communication packet can also be a binlog event sent from the master to the slave.
To be sent by master dump and accepted by slave io thread both have to have
the value of max_allowed_packet bigger than one that client connection had.
In the patch there is the MAX possible replicatio header size estimation for events
in binlog that embedded user query. Only these events of query_log_event type, i.e
just plain queries, require attention.

Note, that my_net_init is redundant for slave io because the thread uses instance of

increment, redundantly as well, thd->net.max_packet_size just for the sake of
consistency. TODO: eliminate my_net_init from execution path of slave io.

when calling a SP from C API"
The bug was caused by lack of checks for misuse in mysql_real_query.
A stored procedure always returns at least one result, which is the
status of execution of the procedure itself.
This result, or so-called OK packet, is similar to a result
returned by INSERT/UPDATE/CREATE operations: it contains the overall
status of execution, the number of affected rows and the number of
warnings. The client test program attached to the bug did not read this
result and ivnoked the next query. In turn, libmysql had no check for
such scenario and mysql_real_query was simply trying to send that query
without reading the pending response, thus messing up the communication
protocol.
The fix is to return an error from mysql_real_query when it's called
prior to retrieval of all pending results.

Return CR_COMMANDS_OUT_OF_SYNC on attempt to execute a statement
using a connection which has pending result sets.
sql-common/client.c:
Actual fix for Bug#15752: if the server has pending result sets for
the client, return CR_COMMANDS_OUT_OF_SYNC on attempt to execute
another query. Similarly to the behaviour of mysql_use_result(),
multiple result sets block the connection and must be fetched
before it can be used for another query.
This uncovered an error in the protocol: the server doesn't drop
SERVER_MORE_RESULTS_EXISTS status flag upon an error, so in case of
a multi-query like SELECT 1; SELECT syntax_error; SELECT 2;
the client has no way to know that the server won't ever come to
execution of the third query and won't return any result sets for it.
For now, fix it in cli_safe_read, as a proper fix requires extension
of the client-server protocol.

BUG#20850: Assert during slave shutdown in many rpl_* tests.
This was caused by a race condition at the end of handle_slave_io

the thread had completed.
sql/slave.cc:
BUG#20850: Assert during slave shutdown in many rpl_* tests.
This was caused by a race condition at the end of handle_slave_io
which under some circumstances allowed the cleanup to proceed before
the thread had completed.
No test case as the bug is in an existing test case (rpl_trigger.test
when it is run under valgrind).
The warning was caused by memory corruption in replication slave: thd->db
was pointing at a stack address that was previously used by
sp_head::execute()::old_db. This happened because mysql_change_db
behaved differently in replication slave and did not make a copy of the
argument to assign to thd->db.
The solution is to always free the old value of thd->db and allocate a new
copy, regardless whether we're running in a replication slave or not.

Move rewrite_db to log_event.cc, the only place where it is used.
sql/slave.cc:
Move rewrite_db to log_event.cc
sql/slave.h:
Remove an unneeded declaration.
sql/sql_class.h:
Fix set_db to always free the old db, even if the argument is NULL.
Add a comment.
sql/sql_db.cc:
Always make a deep copy of the argument in mysql_change_db, even
if running in a replication slave. This is necessary because
sp_use_new_db (stored procedures) assumes that mysql_change_db always makes
a deep copy of the argument, and thus passes a pointer to stack into it.
This assumption was true for all cases except the replication slave thread.

Bug#19022 "Memory bug when switching db during trigger execution"
Bug#17199 "Problem when view calls function from another database."
Bug#18444 "Fully qualified stored function names don't work correctly in
SELECT statements"
Documentation note: this patch introduces a change in behaviour of prepared
statements.
This patch adds a few new invariants with regard to how THD::db should
be used. These invariants should be preserved in future:
- one should never refer to THD::db by pointer and always make a deep copy
(strmake, strdup)
- one should never compare two databases by pointer, but use strncmp or
my_strncasecmp
- TABLE_LIST object table->db should be always initialized in the parser or
by creator of the object.
For prepared statements it means that if the current database is changed
after a statement is prepared, the database that was current at prepare
remains active. This also means that you can not prepare a statement that
implicitly refers to the current database if the latter is not set.
This is not documented, and therefore needs documentation. This is NOT a
change in behavior for almost all SQL statements except:
- ALTER TABLE t1 RENAME t2
- OPTIMIZE TABLE t1
- ANALYZE TABLE t1
- TRUNCATE TABLE t1 --
until this patch t1 or t2 could be evaluated at the first execution of
prepared statement.
CURRENT_DATABASE() still works OK and is evaluated at every execution
of prepared statement.
Note, that in stored routines this is not an issue as the default
database is the database of the stored procedure and "use" statement
is prohibited in stored routines.
This patch makes obsolete the use of check_db_used (it was never used in the
old code too) and all other places that check for table->db and assign it
from THD::db if it's NULL, except the parser.
How this patch was created: THD::{db,db_length} were replaced with a
LEX_STRING, THD::db. All the places that refer to THD::{db,db_length} were
manually checked and:
- if the place uses thd->db by pointer, it was fixed to make a deep copy
- if a place compared two db pointers, it was fixed to compare them by value
(via strcmp/my_strcasecmp, whatever was approproate)
Then this intermediate patch was used to write a smaller patch that does the
same thing but without a rename.
TODO in 5.1:
- remove check_db_used
- deploy THD::set_db in mysql_change_db

sql/sp_head.cc:
- drop sp_name_current_db_new - a creator of sp_name class that was used

database. Now we pass thd->db to constructor of sp_name right in the
parser.
- rewrite sp_head::init_strings: name->m_db is always set now
- use the new variant of sp_use_new_db
- we don't need to update thd->db with SP MEM_ROOT pointer anymore when
parsing a stored procedure, as noone will refer to it (yes!)
sql/sp_head.h:
- remove unneded methods and members
sql/sql_class.h:
- introduce 3 THD methods to work with THD::db:
.set_db to assign the current database
.reset_db to reset the current database (temporarily) or set it to NULL
.opt_copy_db_to - to deep-copy thd->db to a pointer if it's not NULL
sql/sql_db.cc:

sql/sql_parse.cc:
- implement the invariant described in the changeset comment.
- remove juggling with lex->sphead in SQLCOM_CREATE_PROCEDURE:
now db_load_routine uses its own LEX object and doesn't damage the main
LEX.
- add DBUG_ASSERT(0) to unused "check_db_used"
sql/sql_table.cc:
- replace a check with an assert (table_ident->db)
sql/sql_trigger.cc:
While we are at it, replace direct access to thd->db with a method.

sql/sql_view.cc:
- replace a check with an assert (view->db)
sql/sql_yacc.yy:
- make sure that we always copy table->db or name->db or ident->db or
select_lex->db from thd->db if the former is not set. If thd->db
is not set but is accessed, return an error.
sql/tztime.cc:
- be nice, never copy thd->db by pointer.
