Make maximum blob size to be 2**32-1, regardless of word size.
Fix failure of timestamp with size of 2**31-1. The method of
rounding up to the nearest even number would overflow.
mysql-test/r/type_blob.result:
2**32-1 is not a special case for timestamp.
Test 2**32-1 and 2**64 as the reliable test points for both 32-
and 64-bit machines. I'd like to test 2**32, but that would make
tests that vary between architectures.
I'd like to generalize the tests by pulling the max blob size from
the server, and then "eval"ing N-1, N, and N+1 instead of all these
literal numbers, but I have not found a way to get UINT_MAX.

Fix a bug where the round-to-even code for TIMESTAMP fields
failed where the size would overflow the size to zero and then
fail.
Also, since we silently truncate the size of TIMESTAMP fields, set
the maximum size we report is allowable to be the largest parsable
number.

sql/field.cc:
Fixed bug#15409.
The Field_set::store(longlong nr,...) method incompletely
calculates a bit mask for the comparison with a given number:
if that number is greater than 0x7F00 0000 0000 0000 (LONGLONG_MAX),
it uses zero bit mask instead of 0xFFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF (ULONGLONG_MAX).
Incomplete expression has been replaced with a set_bits macro call.
Problem was that Field_bit used Field::hash() function that did not
know about using null-byte for storing bits.
Resulting in wrong length, which was caught by valgrind.
Solution: created a Field_bit::hash() that uses Field_bit::val_int()
and my_charset_bin-collation function hash_sort.
Also use the store function for platform independs

Server handles truncation for assignment of too-long values
into CHAR/VARCHAR/TEXT columns in a different ways when the
truncated characters are spaces:
1. CHAR(N) columns silently ignore end-space truncation;
2. TEXT columns post a truncation warning/error in the
non-strict/strict mode.
3. VARCHAR columns always post a truncation note in
any mode.
Space truncation processing has been synchronised over
CHAR/VARCHAR/TEXT columns: current behavior of VARCHAR
columns has been propagated as standard.
Binary-encoded string/BLOB columns are not affected.

The report_data_too_long function was replaced with the
Field_longstr::report_if_important_data method.
The Field_string::store and the Field_blob::store
methods was synchronized with the Field_varstring::store
method.
Changes:
1. to CHAR(N): posting of space truncation note has been added
in both (strict and non-strict) modes;
2. to BLOBs: a check for space truncation has been added,
a warning in the non-strict mode and an error message in
the strict mode have been replaced with a truncation note.
Similar parts of Field_string::store, Field_blob::store and
Field_varstring::store have been moved to the
Field_longstr::report_if_important_data method.
sql/field.h:
Fixed bug#30059.

BUG#32198: Comparison of DATE with DATETIME still not using indexes correctly
- Added comments
There were two problems when inferring the correct field types resulting from
UNION queries.
- If the type is NULL for all corresponding fields in the UNION, the resulting
type would be NULL, while the type is BINARY(0) if there is just a single
SELECT NULL.
- If one SELECT in the UNION uses a subselect, a temporary table is created
to represent the subselect, and the result type defaults to a STRING type,
hiding the fact that the type was unknown(just a NULL value).
Fixed by remembering whenever a field was created from a NULL value and pass
type NULL to the type coercion if that is the case, and creating a string field
as result of UNION only if the type would otherwise be NULL.

HOUR(), MINUTE(), ... returned spurious results when used on a DATE-cast.
This happened because DATE-cast object did not overload get_time() method

Patch adds missing method; get_time() on DATE-casts now returns SQL-NULL

Rewrote the code that determines what 'precision' argument should be
passed to sprintf() to fit the string representation of the input number
into the field.
We get finer control over conversion by pre-calculating the exponent, so
we are able to determine which conversion format, 'e' or 'f', will be
used by sprintf().
We also remove the leading zero from the exponent on Windows to make it
compatible with the sprintf() output on other platforms.

Bug #31221: don't ignore the errors when storing data
Post-merge fixes. Setting write bit before calling Field::store() since the function asserts that

sql/field.cc:
Setting bit in write set to prevent assertion from throwing when calling Field::store().
Refactoring code to add parameter to pack() and unpack() functions with
purpose of indicating if data should be packed in little-endian or
native order. Using new functions to always pack data for binary log
in little-endian order. The purpose of this refactoring is to allow
proper implementation of endian-agnostic pack() and unpack() functions.
Eliminating several versions of virtual pack() and unpack() functions
in favor for one single virtual function which is overridden in
subclasses.
Implementing pack() and unpack() functions for some field types that
packed data in native format regardless of the value of the
st_table_share::db_low_byte_first flag.
The field types that were packed in native format regardless are:
Field_real, Field_decimal, Field_tiny, Field_short, Field_medium,
Field_long, Field_longlong, and Field_blob.
Before the patch, row-based logging wrote the rows incorrectly on
big-endian machines where the storage engine defined its own
low_byte_first() to be FALSE on big-endian machines (the default
is TRUE), while little-endian machines wrote the fields in correct
order. The only known storage engine that does this is NDB. In effect,
this means that row-based replication from or to a big-endian
machine where the table was using NDB as storage engine failed if the
other engine was either non-NDB or on a little-endian machine.
With this patch, row-based logging is now always done in little-endian
order, while ORDER BY uses the native order if the storage engine
defines low_byte_first() to return FALSE for big-endian machines.
In addition, the max_data_length() function available in Field_blob
was generalized to the entire Field hierarchy to give the maximum
number of bytes that Field::pack() will write.

The change_to_use_tmp_fields function leaves the orig_table member of an
expression's tmp table field filled for the new Item_field being created.
Later orig_table is used by the Field::make_field function to provide some
info about original table and field name to a user. This is ok for a field
but for an expression it should be empty.
The change_to_use_tmp_fields function now resets orig_table member of
an expression's tmp table field to prevent providing a wrong info to a user.
The Field::make_field function now resets the table_name and the org_col_name
variables when the orig_table is set to 0.

BUG#30790 : Suspicious code in rpl_utility.cc
This patch removes code from the calc_field_size that is not needed and
was ambiguous. Originally intended to future expansion, the code was
not needed.
Also added are comments to help explain some portions of the code.
A change was made to the korr method to use the unsigned version to
avoid extended sign problems.
sql/rpl_utility.h:
BUG#30790 : Suspicious code in rpl_utility.cc
This patch corrects some type discrepencies and removes an extra cast.
Based on contributed patch from Martin Friebe, CLA from 2007-02-24.
The parser lacked support for field sizes after signed long,
when it should extend to 2**32-1.
Now, we correct that limitation, and also make the error handling
consistent for casts.

MySQL replicates the time zone only when operations that involve
it are performed. This is controlled by a flag. But this flag
is set only on successful operation.
The flag must be set also when there is an error that involves
a timezone (so the master would replicate the error to the slaves).

Bug 29536 : merge 5.0-opt -> 5.1-opt
MySQL replicates the time zone only when operations that involve
it are performed. This is controlled by a flag. But this flag
is set only on successful operation.
The flag must be set also when there is an error that involves
a timezone (so the master would replicate the error to the slaves).
Fixed by moving the setting of the flag before the operation

This patch adds the ability to store extra field metadata in the table
map event. This data can include pack_length() or field_lenght() for
fields such as CHAR or VARCHAR enabling developers to add code that
can check for compatibilty between master and slave columns. More
importantly, the extra field metadata can be used to store data from the
master correctly should a VARCHAR field on the master be <= 255 bytes
while the same field on the slave is > 255 bytes.
The patch also includes the needed changes to unpack to ensure that data
which is smaller on the master can be unpacked correctly on the slave.
WL#3915 : (NDB) master's cols > slave
Slave starts accepting and handling rows of master's tables which have more columns.
The most important part of implementation is how to caclulate the amount of bytes to

The Field_newdate::store when storing a DATETIME value was returning the
'value was cut' error even if the thd->count_cuted_fields flag is set to
CHECK_FIELD_IGNORE. This made range optimizr think that there is no
appropriate data in the table and thus to return an empty set.
Now the Field_newdate::store function returns conversion error only if the

An assertion abort could occur for some grouping queries that employed
decimal user variables with assignments to them.
The problem appeared the constructors of the class Field_new_decimal
because the function my_decimal_length_to_precision did not guarantee
returning decimal precision not greater than DECIMAL_MAX_PRECISION.

sql/field.cc:
Fixed bug #29417.
Now if the precision returned by calls to my_decimal_length_to_precision
in the constructors of the class Field_new_decimal is greater than
DECIMAL_MAX_PRECISION the precision is set to this value.
leads to the table corruption
New Field::store() method implemented to explicitly set thd->count_cuted_fields
before value storing, instead of (incorrectly) setting it in the CSV storage engine.
Thread row counter now properly incremented during check and repair in the CSV engine.
include/mysql/plugin.h:
Complementary fix for bug #29353: inserting a negative value to a csv table
leads to the table corruption
- thd_inc_row_count() function prototype added, which allows a storage
engine to increment thread row counter.
mysql-test/r/csv.result:
Complementary fix for bug #29353: inserting a negative value to a csv table
leads to the table corruption
- result adjusted.
sql/field.cc:
Complementary fix for bug #29353: inserting a negative value to a csv table

- Field::store(const char *to, uint length, CHARSET_INFO *cs,
enum_check_fields check_level)
method introduced in order to explicitly set count_cuted_fields before
a ::store call, then reset it back after.

storage/csv/ha_tina.cc:
Complementary fix for bug #29353: inserting a negative value to a csv table
leads to the table corruption
- removed #define MYSQL_SERVER 1 - "a storage engine should not need
internals of the server"
- removed thd->count_cuted_fields= CHECK_FIELD_WARN as we are not allowed to
access internals of THD.
- used new Field::store() method to explicitly set thd->count_cuted_fields to
CHECK_FIELD_WARN
- thd_inc_row_count() calls added to ha_tina::repair() and ha_tina::check()
to get proper row count values.

ENUM fields internally store their values as integers and may use integer
values as indexes to their values. Invalid values are mapped to zero value.
When storing an empty string the ENUM field fails to find an appropriate value
and tries to convert the provided string to integer. The conversion also
fails and error is returned even if the thd->count_cuted_fields is set to
CHECK_FIELD_IGNORE. This makes the range optimizer wrongly decide that an
impossible range is present.
Now the Field_enum::store() returns error while storing an empty string only
if the thd->count_cuted_fields isn't set to CHECK_FIELD_IGNORE.

Problem: Unicode->UJIS followed incorrect conversion
rules for U+00A5 YEN SIGN and U+203E OVERLINE,
so these characters were converted to ujis 0x8E5C
and 0x8E7E accordingly.
This behaviour would be correct for a JIS-X-0201 based character set,
but this is wrong for UJIS, which is documented as x-eucjp-unicode-0.9,
and which is based on ASCII for the range U+0000..U+007F.
Fix:
removing JIS-X-0201 conversion rules, making UJIS ASCII compatible.
YEN SIGN and OVERLINE do not have corresponding UJIS characters anymore
and converted to 0x3F QUESTION MARK, throwing a warning in appropriative cases.
This patch also includes a test covering full UJIS->Unicode->UJIS mapping.

When storing a large number to a FLOAT or DOUBLE field with fixed length, it could be incorrectly truncated if the field's length was greater than 31.

Made year 2000 handling more uniform
Removed year 2000 handling out from calc_days()
The above removes some bugs in date/datetimes with year between 0 and 200
Now we get a note when we insert a datetime value into a date column
For default values to CREATE, don't give errors for warning level NOTE
Fixed some compiler failures
Added library ws2_32 for windows compilation (needed if we want to compile with IOCP support)
Removed duplicate typedef TIME and replaced it with MYSQL_TIME
Better (more complete) fix for: Bug#21103 "DATE column not compared as DATE"
Fixed properly Bug#18997 "DATE_ADD and DATE_SUB perform year2K autoconversion magic on 4-digit year value"
Fixed Bug#23093 "Implicit conversion of 9912101 to date does not match cast(9912101 as date)"

The following type conversions was done:
- Changed byte to uchar
- Changed gptr to uchar*
- Change my_string to char *
- Change my_size_t to size_t
- Change size_s to size_t
Removed declaration of byte, gptr, my_string, my_size_t and size_s.
Following function parameter changes was done:
- All string functions in mysys/strings was changed to use size_t
instead of uint for string lengths.
- All read()/write() functions changed to use size_t (including vio).
- All protocoll functions changed to use size_t instead of uint
- Functions that used a pointer to a string length was changed to use size_t*
- Changed malloc(), free() and related functions from using gptr to use void *
as this requires fewer casts in the code and is more in line with how the
standard functions work.
- Added extra length argument to dirname_part() to return the length of the
created string.
- Changed (at least) following functions to take uchar* as argument:
- db_dump()
- my_net_write()
- net_write_command()
- net_store_data()
- DBUG_DUMP()
- decimal2bin() & bin2decimal()
- Changed my_compress() and my_uncompress() to use size_t. Changed one
argument to my_uncompress() from a pointer to a value as we only return
one value (makes function easier to use).
- Changed type of 'pack_data' argument to packfrm() to avoid casts.
- Changed in readfrm() and writefrom(), ha_discover and handler::discover()
the type for argument 'frmdata' to uchar** to avoid casts.
- Changed most Field functions to use uchar* instead of char* (reduced a lot of
casts).
- Changed field->val_xxx(xxx, new_ptr) to take const pointers.
Other changes:
- Removed a lot of not needed casts
- Added a few new cast required by other changes
- Added some cast to my_multi_malloc() arguments for safety (as string lengths
needs to be uint, not size_t).
- Fixed all calls to hash-get-key functions to use size_t*. (Needed to be done
explicitely as this conflict was often hided by casting the function to
hash_get_key).
- Changed some buffers to memory regions to uchar* to avoid casts.
- Changed some string lengths from uint to size_t.
- Changed field->ptr to be uchar* instead of char*. This allowed us to
get rid of a lot of casts.
- Some changes from true -> TRUE, false -> FALSE, unsigned char -> uchar
- Include zlib.h in some files as we needed declaration of crc32()
- Changed MY_FILE_ERROR to be (size_t) -1.
- Changed many variables to hold the result of my_read() / my_write() to be
size_t. This was needed to properly detect errors (which are
returned as (size_t) -1).
- Removed some very old VMS code
- Changed packfrm()/unpackfrm() to not be depending on uint size
(portability fix)
- Removed windows specific code to restore cursor position as this
causes slowdown on windows and we should not mix read() and pread()
calls anyway as this is not thread safe. Updated function comment to
reflect this. Changed function that depended on original behavior of
my_pwrite() to itself restore the cursor position (one such case).
- Added some missing checking of return value of malloc().
- Changed definition of MOD_PAD_CHAR_TO_FULL_LENGTH to avoid 'long' overflow.
- Changed type of table_def::m_size from my_size_t to ulong to reflect that
m_size is the number of elements in the array, not a string/memory
length.
- Moved THD::max_row_length() to table.cc (as it's not depending on THD).
Inlined max_row_length_blob() into this function.
- More function comments
- Fixed some compiler warnings when compiled without partitions.
- Removed setting of LEX_STRING() arguments in declaration (portability fix).
- Some trivial indentation/variable name changes.
- Some trivial code simplifications:
- Replaced some calls to alloc_root + memcpy to use
strmake_root()/strdup_root().
- Changed some calls from memdup() to strmake() (Safety fix)
- Simpler loops in client-simple.c

INSERT...ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE may cause error 1032:
"Can't find record in ..." if we are inserting into
InnoDB table unique index of partial key with
underlying UTF-8 string field.
This error occurs because INSERT...ON DUPLICATE uses a wrong
procedure to copy string fields of multi-byte character sets
for index search.
mysql-test/t/innodb_mysql.test:
Added test case for bug #13191.
mysql-test/r/innodb_mysql.result:
Added test case for bug #13191.
sql/field.h:
Fixed bug #13191.
Field_string::get_key_image() virtual function was overloaded
to implement copying of variable length character (UTF-8) fields.
Field::get_key_image() function prototype has been changed to
return byte size of copied data.

Fixed bug #13191.
INSERT...ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE may cause error 1032:
"Can't find record in ...".
This error occurs because INSERT...ON DUPLICATE uses
a wrong procedure to copy field parts for index search.
key_copy() function has been fixed.
add a new method is_equal in class Field_blob to compare BLOB field when alter table
sql/field.cc:
add a method compare_str_field_flags in class Field_str
add a method is_equal in class Field_blob to compare BLOB field when alter table
sql/field.h:
add corresponding declaration of new method in class definition
This pads the value of CHAR columns with spaces up to full column length (according to ANSI)
It's not makde part of oracle or ansi mode yet, as this would cause a notable behaviour change.

record in table)
key_restore function didn't work as intended in the case of
VARCHAR or BLOB fields, stored the restored key in field->ptr instead
of to_record.
That produced the wrong key so search returned wrong result
mysql-test/r/partition.result:

sql/field.cc:
Field_blob::store_length made static
sql/field.h:
Field_blob::store_length and set_ptr functions implemented in slightly
different way
sql/ha_ndbcluster.cc:
set_ptr_offset used
sql/key.cc:
set key_part->field->ptr to the proper place inside the to_record
so the restored key will be placed there as key_restore
is supposed to behave
