-Change my_rnd() slightly to make it safer if two threads use it at the same time.
-Avoid some sprintf and strmov in vio.
-Changed thread_count to be automically incremented (instead of under LOCK_thread_count).
-Thread cache now uses LOCK_thread_cache instead of LOCK_thread_count.
-Moved delete thd out from LOCK_thread_count.
-Save some mysql_cond_broadcast(&COND_thread_count) calls.
-Removed call to getsockname() during connect.
-Initialize random generator without locks.

committer: Sergei Golubchik <sergii@pisem.net>
fix for a valgrind builds.
my_alloca() cannot have MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC, because can be used
outside of the THD context.
* don't use 'myf flags', when 'my_bool is_thread_specific' is meant
* call set_malloc_size_cb() for embedded too
* warn in safemalloc if the memory is freed by a wrong thread
sql/mysqld.cc:
move set_malloc_size_cb() to a function that is also called for embedded
sql/mysqld.h:
gdb-friendly, one can put breakpoint on a function, but not on a macro
sql/sql_class.cc:
initialize thread_id earlier
* remove unused mysql_option
* don't allocate 5GB of memory in the mtr tests
* restore the behavior in dynamic_column_offset_byte(), put the ifdef correctly
* prefer __attribute__((unused)) to #ifdef
* prefer UNINIT_VAR to LINT_INIT
* make most Warning_info users blissfully unaware of the postponed initialization
* use my_offsetof instead of offsetof where the compiler thinks the latter is incorrect
Base code and idea from a patch from by plinux at Taobao.
The idea is that we mark all memory that are thread specific with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC.
Memory counting is done per thread in the my_malloc_size_cb_func callback function from my_malloc().
There are plenty of new asserts to ensure that for a debug server the counting is correct.
Information_schema.processlist gets two new columns: MEMORY_USED and EXAMINED_ROWS.
- The later is there mainly to show how query is progressing.
The following changes in interfaces was needed to get this to work:
- init_alloc_root() amd init_sql_alloc() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC
- One now have to use alloc_root_set_min_malloc() to set min memory to be allocated by alloc_root()
- my_init_dynamic_array() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC
- my_net_init() has extra option so that one can mark memory with MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC
- Added flag for hash_init() so that one can mark hash table to be thread specific.
- Added flags to init_tree() so that one can mark tree to be thread specific.
- Removed with_delete option to init_tree(). Now one should instead use MY_TREE_WITH_DELETE_FLAG.
- Added flag to Warning_info::Warning_info() if the structure should be fully initialized.
- String elements can now be marked as thread specific.
- Internal HEAP tables are now marking it's memory as MY_THREAD_SPECIFIC.
- Changed type of myf from int to ulong, as this is always a set of bit flags.
Other things:
- Removed calls to net_end() and thd->cleanup() as these are now done in ~THD()
- We now also show EXAMINED_ROWS in SHOW PROCESSLIST
- Added new variable 'memory_used'
- Fixed bug where kill_threads_for_user() was using the wrong mem_root to allocate memory.
- Removed calls to the obsoleted function init_dynamic_array()
- Use set_current_thd() instead of my_pthread_setspecific_ptr(THR_THD,...)

Problem:If Disk becomes full while writing into the binlog,
then the server instance hangs till someone frees the space.
After user frees up the disk space, mysql server crashes
with an assert (m_status != DA_EMPTY)
Analysis: wait_for_free_space is being called in an
infinite loop i.e., server instance will hang until
someone frees up the space. So there is no need to
set status bit in diagnostic area.
Fix: Replace my_error/my_printf_error with
sql_print_warning() which prints the warning in error log.

The patch lifts the limitation of the current implementation
of ALTER TABLE that does not allow to build unique/primary
indexes by sort for MyISAM and Aria engines.
File names with colon are being disallowed because of the Alternate Data
Stream (ADS) feature of NTFS that could be misused. ADS allows data to be
written to alternate streams of a normal file. The data in alternate
streams cannot be seen by normal tools on Windows (explorer, cmd.exe). As
a result someone can use this feature to hide large amount of data in
alternate streams and admins will have no easy way of figuring out the
files that are using that disk space. The fix also disallows ADS in the
scenarios where file name is passed as some dynamic variable.
An important thing about the fix is that it DOES NOT disallow ADS file
names if they are not dynamic (i.e. if the file is created by using some
option that needs local access to the MySQL server, for example error log
file). The reasoning is that if some MySQL option related to files
requires access to the local machine (it is not dynamic), then user can very
well create data in ADS by some other means. This fixes only those scenarios
which can allow users to create data in ADS over the wire.
File names with colon are being disallowed only on Windows. UNIX
(Linux in particular) supports NTFS, but it will not be a common
scenario for someone to configure a NTFS file system to store MySQL
data on Linux.

bug number 15937938.
THREAD POOLING STRESS TEST
PROBLEM:
Connection stress tests which consists of concurrent
kill connections interleaved with mysql ping queries
cause the mysqld server which uses thread pool scheduler
to crash.
FIX:
Killing a connection involves shutdown and close of client
socket and this can cause EPOLLHUP(or EPOLLERR) events to be
to be queued and handled after disarming and cleanup of
of the connection object (THD) is being done.We disarm the
the connection by modifying the epoll mask to zero which
ensure no events come and release the ownership of waiting
thread that collect events and then do the cleanup of THD.
object. As per the linux kernel epoll source code (
http://lxr.linux.no/linux+*/fs/eventpoll.c#L1771), EPOLLHUP
(or EPOLLERR) can't be masked even if we set EPOLL mask
to zero. So we disarm the connection and thus prevent
execution of any query processing handler/queueing to
client ctx. queue by removing the client fd from the epoll
set via EPOLL_CTL_DEL. Also there is a race condition which
involve the following threads:
1) Thread X executing KILL CONNECTION Y and is in THD::awake
and using mysys_var (holding LOCK_thd_data).
2) Thread Y in tp_process_event executing and is being killed.
3) Thread Z receives KILL flag internally and possible call
the tp_thd_cleanup function which set thread session variable
and changing mysys_var.
The fix for the above race is to set thread session variable
under LOCK_thd_data.
We also do not call THD::awake if we found the thread in the
thread list that is to be killed but it's KILL_CONNECTION flag
set thus avoiding any possible concurrent cleanup. This patch
is approved by Mikael Ronstrom via email review.
Avoid inclusion of Windows headers via client API headers, since it traditionally
lead to different subtle compilation problems. Instead define my_socket in a way that is compatible with SOCKET (unsigned int in 32 bit , unsigned longlong in 64 bit)
Use post_kill_notification in for one_thread_per_connection scheduler,
the same as already used in threadpool, to reliably wake a thread stuck in
read() or in different poll() variations.
Generalized support for auto-updated and/or auto-initialized timestamp
and datetime columns. This patch is a reimplementation of MySQL's
"WL#5874: CURRENT_TIMESTAMP as DEFAULT for DATETIME columns". In order to
ease future merges, this implementation reused few function and variable
names from MySQL's patch, however the implementation is quite different.
TODO:
The only unresolved problem in this patch is the semantics of LOAD DATA for
TIMESTAMP and DATETIME columns in the cases when there are missing or NULL
columns. I couldn't fully comprehend the logic behind MySQL's behavior and
its relationship with their own documentation, so I left the results to be
more consistent with all other LOAD cases.
The problematic test cases can be seen by running the test file function_defaults,
and observing the test case differences. Those were left on purpose for discussion.
In 10.0, VIO timeouts can be in milliseconds, so we add a new function
mysql_get_timeout_value_ms() which can return millisecond-precision
timeout values.
In 5.5, we do not have millisecond precision for timeouts. But we still
provide the mysql_get_timeout_value_ms() function; this makes it easier
for applications as they can use the millisecond function in 10.0 and
still work with the 5.5 version of the client library.
This allows us to avoid calculating variables (including those involving mutex) that doesn't match the given
wildcard in SHOW STATUS LIKE '...'
