7972da8aa1 Silence bogus GCC 7 warnings -Wimplicit-fallthrough
Do not silence uncertain cases, or fix any bugs.

The only functional change should be that ha_federated::extra()
is not calling DBUG_PRINT to report an unhandled case for
HA_EXTRA_PREPARE_FOR_DROP.

f7dab76aa2 MDEV-12756 rpl.rpl_killed_ddl fails in buildbot with 'Can't find record'
The issue was that my_errno was not set properly when a repair was killed,
which confused the rpl_killed_ddl script.

I also added an extra test line in varchar.inc to ensure we don't give
duplicate error rows.

934b831281 Fixed the bug mdev-7791.
When an IN subquery predicate was converted to a semi-join that were
materialized and the result of the materialization happened to be
the last in the execution plan then any conjunctive condition with RAND()
turned out to be lost.

Fixed by attaching this condition to the last top base table.

remove dead code: this "return rc" could've never happened,
because reset_stmt_handle can only possibly fail if RESET_SERVER

But this "return rc" was confusing, it was under DBUG_ENTER (while
not being DBUG_RETURN) and it was skipping required stmt cleanup
at the end of the function.

705fc43eaa MDEV-12775 Reuse data type aggregation code for hybrid functions and UNION
Introducing a new class Type_holder (used internally in sql_union.cc),
to reuse exactly the same data type attribute aggregation Type_handler API
for hybrid functions and UNION.

This fixes a number of bugs in UNION:

- MDEV-9495 Wrong field type for a UNION of a signed and an unsigned INT expression
- MDEV-9497 UNION and COALESCE produce different field types for DECIMAL+INT
- MDEV-12594 UNION between fixed length double columns does not always preserve scale
- MDEV-12595 UNION converts INT to BIGINT
- MDEV-12599 UNION is not symmetric when mixing INT and CHAR

Details:

- sql_union.cc: Reusing attribute aggregation for UNION.
  Adding new methods:
  * st_select_lex_unit::join_union_type_handlers()
  * st_select_lex_unit::join_union_type_attributes()
  * st_select_lex_unit::join_union_item_types()
  Removing the old join_types()-based code.

- Changing Type_handler::Item_hybrid_func_fix_attributes()
  to accept "name", Type_handler_hybrid_field_type, Type_all_attributes
  as three separate parameters instead of a single Item_hybrid_func parameter,
  to make it possible to pass both Item_hybrid_func and Type_holder.

- Moving the former special GEOMETRY and ENUM/SET attribute aggregation code
  from Item_type_holder::join_types() to
  * Type_handler_typelib::Item_hybrid_func_fix_attributes().
  * Type_handler_geometry::Item_hybrid_func_fix_attrubutes().
  This makes GEOMETRY/ENUM/SET symmetric with all other data types
  (from the UNION point of view).
  Removing Item_type_holder::join_types() and Item_type_holder::get_full_info().

- Adding new methods into Type_all_attributes:
  * Type_all_attributes::set_geometry_type() and
    Item_hybrid_func::set_geometry_type().
  * Adding Type_all_attributes::get_typelib().
  * Adding Type_all_attributes::set_typelib().

- Adding Type_handler_typelib as a common parent for
  Type_handler_enum and Type_handler_set, to avoid code duplication: they have
  already had two common methods, and we're adding one more shared method.

- Adding Type_all_attributes::set_maybe_null(), as some type handlers
  may want to set maybe_null (e.g. Type_handler_geometry) during data type
  attribute aggregation.

- Changing Type_geometry_attributes() to accept Type_handler
  and Type_all_attributes as two separate parameters, instead
  of a single Item parameter, to make it possible to pass Type_holder.

- Adding Item_args::add_argument().

- Moving Item_args::alloc_arguments() from "protected" to "public".

- Moving Item_type_holder::Item_type_holder() from item.cc to item.h, as
  now it's very simple.
  Btw, this constructor should probably be eventually removed.
  It's now used only in sql_show.cc, which could be modified to use
  Item_return_decimal (for symmetry with Item_return_xxx created for all
  other data types). Or, another option: remove all Item_return_xxx and
  use Item_type_holder for all data types instead.

- storage/tokudb/mysql-test/tokudb/r/type_float.result
  Recording new results (MDEV-12594).

- mysql-test/r/cte_recursive.result
  Recording new results (MDEV-9497)

- mysql-test/r/subselect*.result
  Recording new results (MDEV-12595)

- mysql-test/r/metadata.result
  Recording new results (MDEV-9495)

- mysql-test/r/temp_table.result
  Recording new results (MDEV-12594)

- mysql-test/r/type_float.result
  Recording new results (MDEV-12594)

e0352fb079 Fixed the bug mdev-7599.
At some conditions the function opt_sum_query() can apply MIN/MAX
optimizations to to Item_sum objects of a select These optimizations
becomes invalid if this select is the subquery of an IN subquery
predicate that is converted to a EXISTS subquery. Thus in this case
the MIX/MAX optimizations that have been applied in opt_sum_query()
must be rolled back.
This bug appeared in 5.3 when the code for the cost base choice between
materialization and in-to-exists transformation of non-correlated
IN subqueries was introduced. Before this code in-to-exists
transformations were always performed before the call of opt_sum_query().

217b8115c8 MDEV-12188 information schema - errors populating fail to free memory, unlock mutexes
Given the OK macro used in innodb does a DBUG_RETURN(1) on expression failure
the innodb implementation has a number of errors in i_s.cc.

We introduce a new macro BREAK_IF that replaces some use of the OK macro.
Also, do some other cleanup detailed below.

When invoking Field::store() on integers, always pass the parameter
is_unsigned=true to avoid an unnecessary conversion to double.

i_s_fts_deleted_generic_fill(), i_s_fts_config_fill():
Use the BREAK_IF macro instead of OK.

i_s_fts_index_cache_fill_one_index(), i_s_fts_index_table_fill_one_index():
Add a parameter for conv_string, and let the caller allocate that buffer.

i_s_fts_index_cache_fill(): Check the return status of
i_s_fts_index_cache_fill_one_index().

i_s_fts_index_table_fill(): Check the return status of
i_s_fts_index_table_fill_one_index().

i_s_fts_index_table_fill_one_fetch(): Always let the caller invoke
i_s_fts_index_table_free_one_fetch().

i_s_innodb_buffer_page_fill(), i_s_innodb_buf_page_lru_fill():
Do release dict_sys->mutex if filling the buffers fails.

i_s_innodb_buf_page_lru_fill(): Also display the value
INFORMATION_SCHEMA.INNODB_BUFFER_PAGE.PAGE_IO_FIX='IO_PIN'
when a block is in that state. Remove the unnecessary variable 'heap'.

8417252b04 Fix the Solaris compilation after MDEV-12674
simple_counter::add(): Add a type cast to the os_atomic_increment_ulint()
call, because GCC would check the type compatibility even when the code
branch is not being instantiated (atomic=false). On Solaris,
os_atomic_increment_ulint() actually needs a compatible parameter type,
and an error would be emitted due to an incompatible 64-bit type,
for srv_stats.n_lock_wait_time.add(diff_time).

ff16609374 MDEV-12674 Innodb_row_lock_current_waits has overflow
There is a race condition related to the variable
srv_stats.n_lock_wait_current_count, which is only
incremented and decremented by the function lock_wait_suspend_thread(),

The incrementing is protected by lock_sys->wait_mutex, but the
decrementing does not appear to be protected by anything.
This mismatch could allow the counter to be corrupted when a
transactional InnoDB table or record lock wait is terminating
roughly at the same time with the start of a wait on a
(possibly different) lock.

ib_counter_t: Remove some unused methods. Prevent instantiation for N=1.
Add an inc() method that takes a slot index as a parameter.

single_indexer_t: Remove.

simple_counter<typename Type, bool atomic=false>: A new counter wrapper.
Optionally use atomic memory operations for modifying the counter.
Aligned to the cache line size.

lsn_ctr_1_t, ulint_ctr_1_t, int64_ctr_1_t: Define as simple_counter<Type>.
These counters are either only incremented (and we do not care about
losing some increment operations), or the increment/decrement operations
are protected by some mutex.

srv_stats_t::os_log_pending_writes: Document that the number is protected
by log_sys->mutex.

srv_stats_t::n_lock_wait_current_count: Use simple_counter<ulint, true>,
that is, atomic inc() and dec() operations.

lock_wait_suspend_thread(): Release the mutexes before incrementing
the counters. Avoid acquiring the lock mutex if the lock wait has
already been resolved. Atomically increment and decrement
srv_stats.n_lock_wait_current_count.

row_insert_for_mysql(), row_update_for_mysql(),
row_update_cascade_for_mysql(): Use the inc() method with the trx->id
as the slot index. This is a non-functional change, just using
inc() instead of add(1).

buf_LRU_get_free_block(): Replace the method add(index, n) with inc().
There is no slot index in the simple_counter.

9933239956 MDEV-10804 main.stat_tables_par fails sporadically in buildbot
This was because of two issues:
- thr_multi_lock_after_thr_lock needed to be hit 3 times before go2 could
  be signaled, because 2 of these happened before statistics_update_start
  was reached.
- The original code didn't take into accunt that thr_locks can be executed in
  any random order, which caused sporadic failures when waiting for 1 lock
  of 3, as if the locks where in different order, there would be a dead-lock.
  Fixed by introducing thr_multi_lock_before_thr_lock which is deterministic.
- Some of the test failures where not noticed as the DEBUG_SYNC timeout
  would cause the test to pass (after 300 seconds).

7beb8ff274 A --ps cleanup for MDEV-12658 Make the third parameter to LPAD and RPAD optional
"mtr --ps func_str" failed:
pad_str was erroneously appended with a new space on every PS execution.

Adding pad_str.length(0) into fix_length_and_dec() to avoid this.

f4df8c00c9 MDEV-11197: TrxInInnoDB::is_aborted(const trx_t*): Assertion `srv_read_only_mode || trx->in_depth > 0' failed
TrxInInnoDB should be constructed to track if a transaction is executing
inside InnoDB code i.e. it is like a gate between Server and InnoDB
::rnd_next() is called from Server and thus construct TrxInInnoDB
also there.

Applied suggested clean-up to TrxInInnoDB class functions enter()
and exit(). Note that exactly original did not work for enter().

00821c3825 MDEV-12776 Do not create the InnoDB temporary tablespace in innodb_read_only mode
The InnoDB temporary tablespace is only usable if innodb_read_only=OFF.
It is useless to create the tablespace in read-only mode, because
CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE is disallowed if innodb_read_only, and nothing
can we written to the temporary tablespace if no temporary tables
can be created.
