Visual Studio 2008 Express edition does not include message compiler mc.exe
It is not possible to build MySQL server if only VC2008 Express is installed,
because we use mc.exe to generate event log messages.
This patch removes the mc.exe dependency. Generated files message.h,
message.rc and MSG00001.bin are checked into source code repository.
Instructions on how to add or change messages are added to messages.mc
- Replace per-thread signal()'s with SetUnhandledExceptionFilter().
The only remaining signal() is for SIGABRT (default abort()
handler in VS2005 is broken, i.e removes user exception filter)
- remove MessageBox()'es from error handling code
- Windows port for print_stacktrace() and write_core()
- Cleanup, removed some unused functions
Aligned client library build and use with the Unix version when it
comes to what source to include directly in the builds, and what
libraries to link with (bug#30118).
Also reviewed, corrected and made more clear when static or dynamic
Thread Local Storage is to be used. Some code duplication was removed,
and some redundant library usage were removed, reducing the risk of
incorrect TLS usage.
- Added script to generate application specific manifest.
- Added new CMake MACRO to add customer build events which will first
generate a manifest and then embeds that manifest into an executable.
- configure --disable-grant-options defines DISABLE_GRANT_OPTIONS
- configure.js/cmake also updated
- if DISABLE_GRANT_OPTIONS is defined, mysqld no longer recognizes:
--bootstrap
--init-file
--skip-grant-tables
Scripts which rely on those three options are modified to check the environment for MYSQLD_BOOTSTRAP; it should be set to the full path of a mysqld which does handle those options.
For example:
$ export MYSQLD_BOOTSTRAP
$ MYSQLD_BOOTSTRAP=/path/to/full/MySQL/bin/mysqld
$ mysql_install_db
$ make test
