87ee1e75bc MDEV-35643 Add support for MySQL 8.0 binlog events
MDEV-29533 Crash when MariaDB is replica of MySQL 8.0

MySQL 8.0 has added the following new events in the MySQL binary log

PARTIAL_UPDATE_ROWS_EVENT
TRANSACTION_PAYLOAD_EVENT
HEARTBEAT_LOG_EVENT_V2

- PARTIAL_UPDATE_ROWS_EVENT is used by MySQL to generate update
statements using JSON_SET, JSON_REPLACE and JSON_REMOVE to make
update of JSON columns more efficient. These events can be
  disabled by setting 'binlog-row-value-options=""'
- TRANSACTION_PAYLOAD_EVENT is used by MySQL to signal that a
row event is compressed. It an be disably by setting
  'binlog_transaction_compression=0'.
- HEARTBEAT_LOG_EVENT_V2 is written to the binary log many times
per seconds. It can be ignored by the server.

What this patch does:

- If PARTIAL_UPDATE_ROWS_EVENT or TRANSACTION_PAYLOAD_EVENT is found,
the server will stop with an error message of how to disable the
MySQL server to generate such events.
- HEARTBEAT_LOG_EVENT_V2 events are ignored.
- mariadb-binlog will write the name of the new events.
- mariadb-binlog will stop if PARTIAL_UPDATE_ROWS_EVENT or
TRANSACTION_PAYLOAD_EVENT is found, unless --force is given.
- Fixes a crash in mariadb-binlog if a character set unknown to
  MariaDB is found. (MDEV-29533)

From Kristian Nielsen:
- Add test case for MySQL 8.0 to MariaDB replication and fixed a
a small typo in post_header_len initialization.

89c907bd4f MDEV-33672: Gtid_log_event Construction from File Should Ensure Event Length When Using Extra Flags
A GTID event can have variable length, with contributing factors
such as the variable length from the flags2 and optional extra flags
fields. These fields are bitmaps, where each set bit indicates an
additional value that should be appended to the event, e.g.
multi-engine transactions append a number to indicate the number of
additional engines a transaction uses. However, if a flags bit is
set, and no additional fields are appended to the event, MDEV-33672
reports that the server can still try to read from memory as if it
did exist. Note, however, in debug builds, this condition is
asserted for FL_EXTRA_MULTI_ENGINE.

This patch fixes this to check that the length of the event is
aligned with the expectation set by the flags for FL_PREPARED_XA,
FL_COMPLETED_XA, and FL_EXTRA_MULTI_ENGINE.

MDEV-33502 Slowdown when running nested statement with many partitions

This patch also introduces bitmap_import() and bitmap_export() to be used
when one wants to store bitmaps in files/logs in a portable way.

b5d65fc105 Optimize performance of my_bitmap
MDEV-33502 Slowdown when running nested statement with many partitions

This change was triggered to help some MariaDB users with close to
10000 bits in their bitmaps.

- Change underlaying storage to be 64 bit instead of 32bit.
  - This reduses number of loops to scan bitmaps.
  - This can cause some bitmaps to be 4 byte large.
- Ensure that all not used top-bits are always 0 (simplifes code as
the last 64 bit storage is not a special case anymore).
- Use my_find_first_bit() to find the first set bit which is much faster
than scanning trough things byte by byte and then bit by bit.

Other things:
- Added a bool to remember if my_bitmap_init() did allocate the bitmap
array. my_bitmap_free() will only free arrays it did allocate.
This allowed me to remove setting 'bitmap=0' before calling
my_bitmap_free() for cases where the bitmap's where allocated externally.
- my_bitmap_init() sets bitmap to 0 in case of failure.
- Added 'universal' asserts to most bitmap functions.
- Change all remaining calls to bitmap_init() to my_bitmap_init().
  - To finish the change from 2014.
- Changed all usage of uint32 in my_bitmap.h to my_bitmap_map.
- Updated bitmap_copy() to handle bitmaps of different size.
- Removed const from bitmap_exists_intersection() as this caused casts
  on all usage.
- Removed not used function bitmap_set_above().
- Renamed create_last_word_mask() to create_last_bit_mask() (to match
  name changes in my_bitmap.cc)
- Extended bitmap-t with test for more bitmap functions.

26c86c39fc Fixed some mtr tests that failed on windows
Most things where wrong in the test suite.
The one thing that was a bug was that table_map_id was in some places
defined as ulong and in other places as ulonglong. On Linux 64 bit this
is not a problem as ulong == ulonglong, but on windows this caused failures.
Fixed by ensuring that all instances of table_map_id are ulonglong.

c42aadc388 MDEV-32628: Cryptic ERROR message & inconsistent behavior on incorrect SHOW BINLOG EVENTS FROM ...
Calling SHOW BINLOG EVENTS FROM <offset> with an invalid offset
writes error messages into the server log about invalid reads. The
read errors that occur from this command should only be relayed back
to the user though, and not written into the server log. This is
because they are read-only and have no impact on server operation,
and the client only need be informed to correct the parameter.

This patch fixes this by omitting binary log read errors from the
server when the invocation happens from SHOW BINLOG EVENTS.
Additionally, redundant error messages are omitted when calling the
string based read_log_event from the IO_Cache based read_log_event,
as the later already will report the error of the former.

MDEV-27365 fixes covered only the non-pre-existing table execution branch so
did not see a possibility of implicit commit in
the middle of execution in a rollback branch when the being CREATEd

The pre-existing table branch cleared the DDL modification
flag so the query lost FL_DDL in binlog and its parallel execution
on slave may have ended up with the assert to indicate the query
is raced by a following in binlog order event.

Fixed with applying the MDEV-27365 pattern.
An mtr test is added to cover the rollback situation.

55a53949be MDEV-29621: Replica stopped by locks on sequence
When using binlog_row_image=FULL with sequence table inserts, a
replica can deadlock because it treats full inserts in a sequence as DDL
statements by getting an exclusive lock on the sequence table. It
has been observed that with parallel replication, this exclusive
lock on the sequence table can lead to a deadlock where one
transaction has the exclusive lock and is waiting on a prior
transaction to commit, whereas this prior transaction is waiting on
the MDL lock.

This fix for this is on the master side, to raise FL_DDL
flag on the GTID of a full binlog_row_image write of a sequence table.
This forces the slave to execute the statement serially so a deadlock
cannot happen.

A test verifies the deadlock also to prove it happen on the OLD (pre-fixes)
slave.

OLD (buggy master) -replication-> NEW (fixed slave) is provided.
As the pre-fixes master's full row-image may represent both
SELECT NEXT VALUE and INSERT, the parallel slave pessimistically
waits for the prior transaction to have committed before to take on the
critical part of the second (like INSERT in the test) event execution.
The waiting exploits a parallel slave's retry mechanism which is
controlled by `@@global.slave_transaction_retries`.

Note that in order to avoid any persistent 'Deadlock found' 2013 error
in OLD -> NEW, `slave_transaction_retries` may need to be set to a
higher than the default value.
START-SLAVE is an effective work-around if this still happens.

29fb041007 MDEV-30430: Enabling system versioning on tables without primary key breaks replication
When replicating MDL events for a table that uses system versioning
without primary keys, ensure that for data sets with duplicate
records, the updates to these records with duplicates are enacted on
the correct row. That is, there was a bug (reported in MDEV-30430)
such that the function to find the row to update would stop after
finding the first matching record. However, in the absence of
primary keys, the version of the record is needed to compare the row
to ensure we are updating the correct one.

The fix, therefore, updates the record comparison functionality to
use system version columns when there are no primary keys on the
table.

08c852026d Apply clang-tidy to remove empty constructors / destructors
This patch is the result of running
run-clang-tidy -fix -header-filter=.* -checks='-*,modernize-use-equals-default' .

Code style changes have been done on top. The result of this change
leads to the following improvements:

1. Binary size reduction.
* For a -DBUILD_CONFIG=mysql_release build, the binary size is reduced by
  ~400kb.
* A raw -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release reduces the binary size by ~1.4kb.

2. Compiler can better understand the intent of the code, thus it leads
to more optimization possibilities. Additionally it enabled detecting
unused variables that had an empty default constructor but not marked
   so explicitly.

Particular change required following this patch in sql/opt_range.cc

result_keys, an unused template class Bitmap now correctly issues
   unused variable warnings.

Setting Bitmap template class constructor to default allows the compiler
to identify that there are no side-effects when instantiating the class.
Previously the compiler could not issue the warning as it assumed Bitmap
class (being a template) would not be performing a NO-OP for its default
constructor. This prevented the "unused variable warning".

5563202089 MDEV-29322 ASAN heap-use-after-free in Query_log_event::do_apply_event
The ASAN report was made in the parallel slave execution of a query
event and implicitly involved (so also parallelly run) Format-Description
event.
The Query actually had unexpected impossible dependency on a preceding
"old" FD whose instance got destructed, to cause the ASAN error.

The case is fixed with storing the FD's value into Query-log-event
at its instantiating on slave. The stored value is from the very
FD of the Query's original binlog so remains to be correct
at the query event applying.

The branch C. of a new rpl_parallel_29322.test also demonstrates
(may need few --repeat though) the bug in its simple form of the same
server version binlog.

47812017c6 MDEV-28530: Revoking privileges from a non-existing user on a master breaks replication on the slave in the presence of replication filters
Problem:
========
Replication can break while applying a query log event if its
respective command errors on the primary, but is ignored by the
replication filter within Grant_tables on the replica. The bug
reported by MDEV-28530 shows this with REVOKE ALL PRIVILEGES using a
non-existent user. The primary will binlog the REVOKE command with
an error code, and the replica will think the command executed with
success because the replication filter will ignore the command while
accessing the Grant_tables classes. When the replica performs an
error check, it sees the difference between the error codes, and
replication breaks.

Solution:
========
If the replication filter check done by Grant_tables logic ignores
the tables, reset thd->slave_expected_error to 0 so that
Query_log_event::do_apply_event() can be made aware that the
underlying query was ignored when it compares errors.

Note that this bug also effects DROP USER if not all users exist
in the provided list, and the patch fixes and tests this case.

This patch is the plan D variant for fixing potetial mutex locking
order exercised by BF aborting and KILL command execution.

In this approach, KILL command is replicated as TOI operation.
This guarantees total isolation for the KILL command execution
in the first node: there is no concurrent replication applying
and no concurrent DDL executing. Therefore there is no risk of
BF aborting to happen in parallel with KILL command execution
either. Potential mutex deadlocks between the different mutex
access paths with KILL command execution and BF aborting cannot
therefore happen.

TOI replication is used, in this approach, purely as means
to provide isolated KILL command execution in the first node.
KILL command should not (and must not) be applied in secondary
nodes. In this patch, we make this sure by skipping KILL
execution in secondary nodes, in applying phase, where we
bail out if applier thread is trying to execute KILL command.
This is effective, but skipping the applying of KILL command
could happen much earlier as well.

This also fixed unprotected calls to wsrep_thd_abort
that will use wsrep_abort_transaction. This is fixed
by holding THD::LOCK_thd_data while we abort transaction.

6c39eaeb12 MDEV-21117: refine the server binlog-based recovery for semisync
Problem:
=======
When the semisync master is crashed and restarted as slave it could
recover transactions that former slaves may never have seen.
A known method existed to clear out all prepared transactions
with --tc-heuristic-recover=rollback does not care to adjust
binlog accordingly.

Fix:
===
The binlog-based recovery is made to concern of the slave semisync role of
post-crash restarted server.
No changes in behavior is done to the "normal" binloggging server
and the semisync master.

When the restarted server is configured with
  --rpl-semi-sync-slave-enabled=1
the refined recovery attempts to roll back prepared transactions
and truncate binlog accordingly.
In case of a partially committed (that is committed at least
in one of the engine participants) such transaction gets committed.
It's guaranteed no (partially as well) committed transactions
exist beyond the truncate position.
In case there exists a non-transactional replication event
(being in a way a committed transaction) past the
computed truncate position the recovery ends with an error.

As after master crash and failover to slave, the demoted-to-slave
ex-master must be ready to face and accept its own (generated by)
events, without generally necessary --replicate-same-server-id.
So the acceptance conditions are relaxed for the semisync slave
to accept own events without that option.
While gtid_strict_mode ON ensures no duplicate transaction can be
(re-)executed the master_use_gtid=none slave has to be
configured with --replicate-same-server-id.

*NOTE* for reviewers.

This patch does not handle the user XA which is done
in next git commit.
