buf_flush_init_for_writing(): Assert that FIL_PAGE_TYPE is set
except when creating a new data file with a dummy first page.
buf_dblwr_create(): Ensure that FIL_PAGE_TYPE on all pages
will be initialized. Reset buf_dblwr_being_created at the end.
ut_list_validate(), ut_list_map(): Add variants with const Functor&
so that these functions can be called with an rvalue.
Remove wrapper macros, and add #ifdef UNIV_DEBUG around debug-only code.
The compile-time option IBUF_COUNT_DEBUG has not been used for years.
It would only work with up to 3 created .ibd files, with no buffered
changes existing while InnoDB is started up.
Introduce the configuration option innodb_log_optimize_ddl
for controlling whether native index creation or table-rebuild
in InnoDB should keep optimizing the redo log
(and writing MLOG_INDEX_LOAD records to ensure that
concurrent backup would fail).
By default, we have innodb_log_optimize_ddl=ON, that is,
the default behaviour that was introduced in MariaDB 10.2.2
(with the merge of InnoDB from MySQL 5.7) will be unchanged.
BtrBulk::m_trx: Replaces m_trx_id. We must be able to check for
KILL QUERY even if !m_flush_observer (innodb_log_optimize_ddl=OFF).
page_cur_insert_rec_write_log(): Declare globally, so that this
can be called from PageBulk::insert().
row_merge_insert_index_tuples(): Remove the unused parameter trx_id.
row_merge_build_indexes(): Enable or disable redo logging based on
the innodb_log_optimize_ddl parameter.
PageBulk::init(), PageBulk::insert(), PageBulk::finish(): Write
redo log records if needed. For ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED, redo log
will be written in PageBulk::compress() unless we called
m_mtr.set_log_mode(MTR_LOG_NO_REDO).
buf_flush_remove(): Disable the output for now, because we
certainly do not want this after every page flush on shutdown.
It must be rate-limited somehow. There already is a timeout
extension for waiting the page cleaner to exit in
logs_empty_and_mark_files_at_shutdown().
log_write_up_to(): Use correct format.
srv_purge_should_exit(): Move the timeout extension to the
appropriate place, from one of the callers.
Use systemd EXTEND_TIMEOUT_USEC to advise systemd of progress
Move towards progress measures rather than pure time based measures.

buf_flush_page_cleaner_coordinator(): Signal the worker threads
to exit while waiting for them to exit. Apparently, signals are
sometimes lost, causing shutdown to occasionally hang when
multiple page cleaners (and buffer pool instances) are used,
that is, when innodb_buffer_pool_size is at least 1 GiB.
buf_flush_page_cleaner_close(): Merge with the only caller.
fil_space_t::atomic_write_supported: Always set this flag for
TEMPORARY TABLESPACE and during IMPORT TABLESPACE. The page
writes during these operations are by definition not crash-safe
because they are not written to the redo log.
fil_space_t::use_doublewrite(): Determine if doublewrite should
be used.
buf_dblwr_update(): Add assertions, and let the caller check whether
doublewrite buffering is desired.
buf_flush_write_block_low(): Disable the doublewrite buffer for
the temporary tablespace and for IMPORT TABLESPACE.
fil_space_set_imported(), fil_node_open_file(), fil_space_create():
Initialize or revise the space->atomic_write_supported flag.
buf_page_io_complete(), buf_flush_write_complete(): Add the parameter
dblwr, to indicate whether doublewrite was used for writes.
buf_dblwr_sync_datafiles(): Remove an unnecessary flush of
persistent tablespaces when flushing temporary tablespaces.
(Move the call to buf_dblwr_flush_buffered_writes().)
While the bug was reported as a regression of
MDEV-11025 Make number of page cleaner threads variable dynamic
in MariaDB Server 10.3, the code that MariaDB Server 10.2
inherited from MySQL 5.7.4 (WL#6642) looks prone to similar errors.
pc_flush_slot(): If there is no work to do, reset the is_requested
signal, to avoid potential busy-waiting in
buf_flush_page_cleaner_worker(). If the coordinator thread has shut
down, avoid resetting the is_requested event, to avoid a potential
hang at shutdown if there are multiple worker threads.
Silence the error log output that was introduced in MySQL 5.7
(MariaDB 10.2.2) if log_warnings=2 or less.
We should still figure out what these messages really indicate
and how to solve the problems.
pc_sleep_if_needed(): Add a parameter for the current time,
so that there will be fewer successive calls to ut_time_ms()
with no I/O between them.
buf_flush_page_cleaner_coordinator(): Exit the first loop
whenever shutdown has been requested. At the start of the loop,
call ut_time_ms() only once. Do not display the message if
log_warnings=2 or less.
Also, MDEV-14317 When ALTER TABLE is aborted, do not write garbage pages to data files
As pointed out by Shaohua Wang, the merge of MDEV-13328 from
MariaDB 10.1 (based on MySQL 5.6) to 10.2 (based on 5.7)
was performed incorrectly.
Let us always pass a non-NULL FlushObserver* when writing
to data files is desired.
FlushObserver::is_partial_flush(): Check if this is a bulk-load
(partial flush of the tablespace).
FlushObserver::is_interrupted(): Check for interrupt status.
buf_LRU_flush_or_remove_pages(): Instead of trx_t*, take
FlushObserver* as a parameter.
buf_flush_or_remove_pages(): Remove the parameters flush, trx.
If observer!=NULL, write out the data pages. Use the new predicate
observer->is_partial() to distinguish a partial tablespace flush
(after bulk-loading) from a full tablespace flush (export).
Return a bool (whether all pages were removed from the flush_list).
buf_flush_dirty_pages(): Remove the parameter trx.
FlushObserver::flush(): Never discard unwritten changes.
We do not want to risk corrupting the system tablespace
or .ibd files that are not part of a table-rebuilding ALTER.
Some innobase/xtrabackup changes around from 10.1 are null merged
, in partucular using os_set_file_size to extend tablespaces in server
or mariabackup.
They require non-trivial amount of additional work in 10.2, due to
innobase differences between 10.1 and 10.2
In MariaDB Server 10.1, this problem manifests itself only as
a debug assertion failure in page_zip_decompress() when an insert
requires a page to be decompressed.
In MariaDB 10.1, the encryption of InnoDB data files repurposes the
previously unused field FILE_FLUSH_LSN for an encryption key version.
This field was only used in the first page of each file of the system
tablespace. For ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED tables, the field was always
written as 0 until encryption was implemented.
There is no bug in the encryption, because the buffer pool blocks will
not be written to files. Instead, copies of the blocks will be encrypted.
In these encrypted copies, the key version field will be updated before
the buffer is written to the file. The field in the buffer pool is
basically garbage that does not really matter.
Already in MariaDB 10.0, the memset() calls to reset this unused field
in buf_flush_update_zip_checksum() and buf_flush_write_block_low()
are unnecessary, because fsp_init_file_page_low() would guarantee that
the field is always 0 in the buffer pool (unless 10.1 encryption is
used).
Removing the unnecessary memset() calls makes page_zip_decompress()
happy and will prevent a SPATIAL INDEX corruption bug in
MariaDB Server 10.2. In MySQL 5.7.5, as part of WL#6968, the same
field was repurposed for an R-tree split sequence number (SSN) and
these memset() were removed. (Because of the repurposing, MariaDB
encryption is not available for tables that contain SPATIAL INDEX.)
buf_page_io_complete(): Do not test bpage for NULL, because
it is declared (and always passed) as nonnull.
buf_flush_batch(): Remove the constant local variable count=0.
fil_ibd_load(): Use magic comment to suppress -Wimplicit-fallthrough.
ut_stage_alter_t::inc(ulint): Disable references to an unused parameter.
lock_queue_validate(), sync_array_find_thread(), rbt_check_ordering():
Define only in debug builds.
buf_flush_page_cleaner_coordinator: In the first loop, use an
appropriate termination condition, waiting for !recv_writer_thread_active.
logs_empty_and_mark_files_at_shutdown(): Signal recv_sys->flush_start
in case the recv_writer_thread was never started, or
buf_flush_page_cleaner_coordinator failed to notice its termination.
innobase_start_or_create_for_mysql(): Remove a redundant, unreachable
condition, and properly release resources when aborting startup due to
recv_sys->found_corrupt_log.
buf_flush_page_cleaner_coordinator(): Signal the thread creator
that the error log output regarding setpriority() has been issued.
innobase_start_or_create_for_mysql(): Wait for
buf_flush_page_cleaner_coordinator() to completely start up.
This prevents sporadic failures of tests that search the server
error log for InnoDB redo log recovery messages.
buf_flush_init_for_writing(): Reset the FIL_PAGE_TYPE
of the TRX_SYS page to the canonical value
FIL_PAGE_TYPE_TRX_SYS instead of FIL_PAGE_TYPE_UNKNOWN.
When the btr_search_latch was split into an array of latches
in MySQL 5.7.8 as part of the Oracle Bug#20985298 fix, the "caching"
of the latch across storage engine API calls was removed, and
the field trx->has_search_latch would only be set during a short
time frame in the execution of row_search_mvcc(), which was
formerly called row_search_for_mysql().
This means that the column
INFORMATION_SCHEMA.INNODB_TRX.TRX_ADAPTIVE_HASH_LATCHED will always
report 0. That column cannot be removed in MariaDB 10.2, but it
can be removed in future releases.
trx_t::has_search_latch: Remove.
trx_assert_no_search_latch(): Remove.
row_sel_try_search_shortcut_for_mysql(): Remove a redundant condition
on trx->has_search_latch (it was always true).
sync_check_iterate(): Make the parameter const.
sync_check_functor_t: Make the operator() const, and remove result()
and the virtual destructor. There is no need to have mutable state
in the functors.
sync_checker<bool>: Replaces dict_sync_check and btrsea_sync_check.
sync_check: Replaces btrsea_sync_check.
dict_sync_check: Instantiated from sync_checker.
sync_allowed_latches: Use std::find() directly on the array.
Remove the std::vector.
TrxInInnoDB::enter(), TrxInInnoDB::exit(): Remove obviously redundant
debug assertions on trx->in_depth, and use equality comparison against 0
because it could be more efficient on some architectures.
When a slow shutdown is performed soon after spawning some work for
background threads that can create or commit transactions, it is possible
that new transactions are started or committed after the purge has finished.
This is violating the specification of innodb_fast_shutdown=0, namely that
the purge must be completed. (None of the history of the recent transactions
would be purged.)
Also, it is possible that the purge threads would exit in slow shutdown
while there exist active transactions, such as recovered incomplete
transactions that are being rolled back. Thus, the slow shutdown could
fail to purge some undo log that becomes purgeable after the transaction
commit or rollback.
srv_undo_sources: A flag that indicates if undo log can be generated
or the persistent, whether by background threads or by user SQL.
Even when this flag is clear, active transactions that already exist
in the system may be committed or rolled back.
innodb_shutdown(): Renamed from innobase_shutdown_for_mysql().
Do not return an error code; the operation never fails.
Clear the srv_undo_sources flag, and also ensure that the background
DROP TABLE queue is empty.
srv_purge_should_exit(): Do not allow the purge to exit if
srv_undo_sources are active or the background DROP TABLE queue is not
empty, or in slow shutdown, if any active transactions exist
(and are being rolled back).
srv_purge_coordinator_thread(): Remove some previous workarounds
for this bug.
innobase_start_or_create_for_mysql(): Set buf_page_cleaner_is_active
and srv_dict_stats_thread_active directly. Set srv_undo_sources before
starting the purge subsystem, to prevent immediate shutdown of the purge.
Create dict_stats_thread and fts_optimize_thread immediately
after setting srv_undo_sources, so that shutdown can use this flag to
determine if these subsystems were started.
dict_stats_shutdown(): Shut down dict_stats_thread. Backported from 10.2.
srv_shutdown_table_bg_threads(): Remove (unused).
In commit 360a4a0372
some debug assertions were introduced to the page flushing code
in XtraDB. Add these assertions to InnoDB as well, and adjust
the InnoDB shutdown so that these assertions will not fail.
logs_empty_and_mark_files_at_shutdown(): Advance
srv_shutdown_state from the first phase SRV_SHUTDOWN_CLEANUP
only after no page-dirtying activity is possible
(well, except by srv_master_do_shutdown_tasks(), which will be
fixed separately in MDEV-12052).
rotate_thread_t::should_shutdown(): Already exit the key rotation
threads at the first phase of shutdown (SRV_SHUTDOWN_CLEANUP).
page_cleaner_sleep_if_needed(): Do not sleep during shutdown.
This change is originally from XtraDB.
Significantly reduce the amount of InnoDB, XtraDB and Mariabackup
code changes by defining pfs_os_file_t as something that is
transparently compatible with os_file_t.
This merge reverts commit 6ca4f693c1ce472e2b1bf7392607c2d1124b4293
from current 5.6.36 innodb.
Bug #23481444 OPTIMISER CALL ROW_SEARCH_MVCC() AND READ THE
INDEX APPLIED BY UNCOMMITTED ROW
Problem:
========
row_search_for_mysql() does whole table traversal for range query
even though the end range is passed. Whole table traversal happens
when the record is not with in transaction read view.
Solution:
=========
Convert the innodb last record of page to mysql format and compare
with end range if the traversal of row_search_mvcc() exceeds 100,
no ICP involved. If it is out of range then InnoDB can avoid the
whole table traversal. Need to refactor the code little bit to
make it compile.

This fixes a regression caused by MDEV-12428.
When we introduced a variant of fil_space_acquire() that could
increment space->n_pending_ops after space->stop_new_ops was set,
the logic of fil_check_pending_operations() was broken.
fil_space_t::n_pending_ios: A new field to track read or write
access from the buffer pool routines immediately before a block
write or after a block read in the file system.
fil_space_acquire_for_io(), fil_space_release_for_io(): Similar
to fil_space_acquire_silent() and fil_space_release(), but
modify fil_space_t::n_pending_ios instead of fil_space_t::n_pending_ops.
Adjust a number of places accordingly, and remove some redundant
tablespace lookups.
The following parts of this fix differ from the 10.2 version of this fix:
buf_page_get_corrupt(): Add a tablespace parameter.
In 10.2, we already had a two-phase process of freeing fil_space objects
(first, fil_space_detach(), then release fil_system->mutex, and finally
free the fil_space and fil_node objects).
fil_space_free_and_mutex_exit(): Renamed from fil_space_free().
Detach the tablespace from the fil_system cache, release the
fil_system->mutex, and then wait for space->n_pending_ios to reach 0,
to avoid accessing freed data in a concurrent thread.
During the wait, future calls to fil_space_acquire_for_io() will
not find this tablespace, and the count can only be decremented to 0,
at which point it is safe to free the objects.
fil_node_free_part1(), fil_node_free_part2(): Refactored from
fil_node_free().
This fixes a regression caused by MDEV-12428.
When we introduced a variant of fil_space_acquire() that could
increment space->n_pending_ops after space->stop_new_ops was set,

fil_space_free_low(): Wait for space->n_pending_ios to reach 0,
to avoid accessing freed data in a concurrent thread. Future
calls to fil_space_acquire_for_io() will not find this tablespace,
because it will already have been detached from fil_system.
Adjust a number of places accordingly, and remove some redundant
tablespace lookups.
FIXME: buf_page_check_corrupt() should take a tablespace from
fil_space_acquire_for_io() as a parameter. This will be done
in the 10.1 version of this patch and merged from there.
That depends on MDEV-12253, which has not been merged from 10.1 yet.
Problem was that bpage was referenced after it was already freed
from LRU. Fixed by adding a new variable encrypted that is
passed down to buf_page_check_corrupt() and used in

fil_get_first_space_safe(), fil_get_next_space_safe()
functions.
fil_space_verify_crypt_checksum(): Fixed bug found using ASAN

function was called for compressed table.
Added new tests for discard, rename table and drop (we should allow them
even when page decryption fails). Alter table rename is not allowed.
Added test for restart with innodb-force-recovery=1 when page read on
redo-recovery cant be decrypted. Added test for corrupted table where
both page data and FIL_PAGE_FILE_FLUSH_LSN_OR_KEY_VERSION is corrupted.
Adjusted the test case innodb_bug14147491 so that it does not anymore
expect crash. Instead table is just mostly not usable.

fil_decompress_page(): Remove unsafe use of fil_space_get_by_id().
buf_flush_write_block_low(): Acquire the tablespace reference once,

InnoDB defines some functions that are not called at all.
Other functions are called, but only from the same compilation unit.
Remove some function declarations and definitions, and add 'static'
keywords. Some symbols must be kept for separately compiled tools,
such as innochecksum.
Also, remove empty .ic files that were not removed by my MySQL commit.
Problem:
InnoDB used to support a compilation mode that allowed to choose
whether the function definitions in .ic files are to be inlined or not.
This stopped making sense when InnoDB moved to C++ in MySQL 5.6
(and ha_innodb.cc started to #include .ic files), and more so in
MySQL 5.7 when inline methods and functions were introduced
in .h files.
Solution:
Remove all references to UNIV_NONINL and UNIV_MUST_NOT_INLINE from
all files, assuming that the symbols are never defined.
Remove the files fut0fut.cc and ut0byte.cc which only mattered when
UNIV_NONINL was defined.
