safety first - tell mariadb client not to execute dangerous
cli commands, they cannot be present in the dump anyway.
wrapping the command in /*!999999 ..... */ guarantees that
if a non-mariadb-cli client loads the dump and sends it to the
server - the server will ignore the command it doesn't understand
- ZLIB_LIBRARIES, not ZLIB_LIBRARY
- ZLIB_INCLUDE_DIRS, not ZLIB_INCLUDE_DIR
For building libmariadb, ZLIB_LIBRARY/ZLIB_INCLUDE_DIR are still defined
This workaround will be removed later.
I checked all stack overflow potential problems found with
gcc -Wstack-usage=16384
and
clang -Wframe-larger-than=16384 -no-inline
Fixes:
Added '#pragma clang diagnostic ignored "-Wframe-larger-than="'
to a lot of function to where stack usage large but resonable.
- Added stack check warnings to BUILD scrips when using clang and debug.
Function changed to use malloc instead allocating things on stack:
- read_bootstrap_query() now allocates line_buffer (20000 bytes) with
malloc() instead of using stack. This has a small performance impact
but this is not releant for bootstrap.
- mroonga grn_select() used 65856 bytes on stack. Changed it to use
malloc().
- Wsrep_schema::replay_transaction() and
Wsrep_schema::recover_sr_transactions().
- Connect zipOpen3()
Not fixed:
- mroonga/vendor/groonga/lib/expr.c grn_proc_call() uses
43712 byte on stack. However this is not easy to fix as the stack
used is caused by a lot of code generated by defines.
- Most changes in mroonga/groonga where only adding of pragmas to disable
stack warnings.
- rocksdb/options/options_helper.cc uses 20288 of stack space.
(no reason to fix except to get rid of the compiler warning)
- Causes using alloca() where the allocation size is resonable.
- An issue in libmariadb (reported to connectors).
Some fixes related to commit f838b2d799 and
Rows_log_event::do_apply_event() and Update_rows_log_event::do_exec_row()
for system-versioned tables were provided by Nikita Malyavin.
This was required by test versioning.rpl,trx_id,row.
libxml2 2.12.0 made `xmlGetLastError()` return `const` pointer:
61034116d0
Clang 16 does not like this:
error: assigning to 'xmlErrorPtr' (aka '_xmlError *') from 'const xmlError *' (aka 'const _xmlError *') discards qualifiers
error: cannot initialize a variable of type 'xmlErrorPtr' (aka '_xmlError *') with an rvalue of type 'const xmlError *' (aka 'const _xmlError *')
Let’s update the variables to `const`.
For older versions, it will be automatically converted.
But then `xmlResetError(xmlError*)` will not like the `const` pointer:
error: no matching function for call to 'xmlResetError'
note: candidate function not viable: 1st argument ('const xmlError *' (aka 'const _xmlError *')) would lose const qualifier
Let’s replace it with `xmlResetLastError()`.
ALso remove `LIBXMLDOC::Xerr` protected member property.
It was introduced in 65b0e5455b
along with the `xmlResetError` calls.
It does not appear to be used for anything.
There are a large number of uses of `strerror` in the codebase,
the local declaration in `storage/connect/tabvct.cpp` is the only one.
Given that none is needed elsewhere, I conclude that this instance can
simply be removed.
The MDEV-29693 conflict resolution is from Monty, as well as is
a bug fix where ANALYZE TABLE wrongly built histograms for
single-column PRIMARY KEY.
Also includes a fix for safe_malloc error reporting.
Other things:
- Copied main.log_slow from 10.4 to avoid mtr issue
Disabled test:
- spider/bugfix.mdev_27239 because we started to get
+Error 1429 Unable to connect to foreign data source: localhost
-Error 1158 Got an error reading communication packets
- main.delayed
- Bug#54332 Deadlock with two connections doing LOCK TABLE+INSERT DELAYED
This part is disabled for now as it fails randomly with different
warnings/errors (no corruption).
The problem is that s390x is not using the default bzip library we use
on other platforms, which causes compressed string lengths to be differnt
than what mtr tests expects.
Fixed by:
- Added have_normal_bzip.inc, which checks if compress() returns the
expected length.
- Adjust the results to match the expected one
- main.func_compress.test & archive.archive
- Don't print lengths that depends on compression library
- mysqlbinlog compress tests & connect.zip
- Don't print DATA_LENGTH for SET column_compression_zlib_level=1
- main.column_compression
This patch adds for "--ps-protocol" second execution
of queries "SELECT".
Also in this patch it is added ability to disable/enable
(--disable_ps2_protocol/--enable_ps2_protocol) second
execution for "--ps-prototocol" in testcases.
Add the end of file marker x1A to the DBF file and handle it
correctly to preserve interoperability with Libreoffice, and others
that have followed the DBF spec.
The file open mode of "a+" was problematic because Linux and the OSX,
the previous main development mode are inconsistent (see man fopen).
The main problem per the bug report was the inability to fseek back to the
beginning to update the records in the header.
As such the "a+" mode is remove and "w+b" is used inserting to a new file
and "r+b" is used for appending to the file.
In DBFFAM::CloseTableFile move PlugCloseFile down to close the file in
all modes.
The year unlike the comments is always since 1900. Use the

Thanks for Mr. Zoltan Duna for the descriptive bug report.
Modern software (including text editors, static analysis software,
and web-based code review interfaces) often requires source code files
to be interpretable via a consistent character encoding, with UTF-8 or
ASCII (a strict subset of UTF-8) as the default. Several of the MariaDB
source files contain bytes that are not valid in either the UTF-8 or
ASCII encodings, but instead represent strings encoded in the
ISO-8859-1/Latin-1 or ISO-8859-2/Latin-2 encodings.
These inconsistent encodings may prevent software from correctly
presenting or processing such files. Converting all source files to
valid UTF8 characters will ensure correct handling.
Comments written in Czech were replaced with lightly-corrected
translations from Google Translate. Additionally, comments describing
the proper handling of special characters were changed so that the
comments are now purely UTF8.

These files are currently not being used nor compiled in MariaDB. The
use of large lists of 'case' statements in these source files are also
not a great way to represent translated strings. This git history can
be referred to when a better translation interface can be implemented
in the future.
Therefore, these files can be removed to cleanup the MariaDB codebase.

Old style C functions `strcpy()`, `strcat()` and `sprintf()` are vulnerable to
security issues due to lacking memory boundary checks. Replace these in the
Connect storage engine with safe new and/or custom functions such as
`snprintf()` `safe_strcpy()` and `safe_strcat()`.
With this change FlawFinder and other static security analyzers report 287
fewer findings.
