The upper 1M limit for max_prepared_stmt_count was set over 10 years
ago. It doesn't suite current hardware and a sysbench oltp_read_write
test with 512 threads will hit this limit.
MDEV--15609 engines/funcs.crash_manytables_number crashes with error 24
(too many open files)
MDEV-10286 Adjustment of table_open_cache according to system limits
does not work when open-files-limit option is provided
Fixed by adjusting tc_size downwards if there is not enough file
descriptors to use.
Other changes:
- Ensure that there is 30 (was 10) extra file descriptors for other usage
- Decrease TABLE_OPEN_CACHE_MIN to 200 as it's better to have a smaller
table cache than getting error 24
- Increase minimum of max_connections and table_open_cache from 1 to 10
as 1 is not usable for any real application, only for testing.
a) We do not need this on Windows, and it is not clear what it does,inside
service.
b) It hinders debugging.
mysql-test-run.pl --debugger=vsjitdebugger more often than , would stop here
throwing "invalid handle" exception.
find_type_or_exit() client helper did exit(1) on error, exit(1) moved to
clients.
mysql_read_default_options() did exit(1) on error, error is passed through and
handled now.
my_str_malloc_default() did exit(1) on error, replaced my_str_ allocator
functions with normal my_malloc()/my_realloc()/my_free().
sql_connect.cc did many exit(1) on hash initialisation failure. Removed error
check since my_hash_init() never fails.
my_malloc() did exit(1) on error. Replaced with abort().
my_load_defaults() did exit(1) on error, replaced with return 2.
my_load_defaults() still does exit(0) when invoked with --print-defaults.
ROOT
DESCRIPTION
===========
If the .pid file is created at a world-writable location,
it can be compromised by replacing the server's pid with
another running server's (or some other non-mysql process)
PID causing abnormal behaviour.
ANALYSIS
========
In such a case, user should be warned that .pid file is
being created at a world-writable location.
FIX
===
A new function is_file_or_dir_world_writable() is defined
and it is called in create_pid_file() before .pid file
creation. If the location is world-writable, a relevant
warning is thrown.
NOTE
====
1. PID file is always created with permission bit 0664, so
for outside world its read-only.
2. Ignoring the case when permission is denied to get the
dir stats since the .pid file creation would fail anyway in
such a case.
The problem was that the introduction of max-thread-mem-used can cause
an allocation error very early, even before mysql_parse() is called.
As mysql_parse() calls thd->reset_for_next_command(), which called
clear_error(), the error number was lost.
Fixed by adding an option to have unique messages for each KILL
signal and change max-thread-mem-used to use this new feature.
This removes a lot of problems with the original approach, where
one could get errors signaled silenty almost any time.
ixed by moving clear_error() from reset_for_next_command() to
do_command(), before any memory allocation for the thread.
Related changes:
- reset_for_next_command() now have an optional parameter if we should
call clear_error() or not. By default it's called, but not anymore from
dispatch_command() which was the original problem.
- Added optional paramater to clear_error() to force calling of
reset_diagnostics_area(). Before clear_error() only called
reset_diagnostics_area() if there was no error, so we normally
called reset_diagnostics_area() twice.
- This change removed several duplicated calls to clear_error()
when starting a query.
- Reset max_mem_used on COM_QUIT, to protect against kill during
quit.
- Use fatal_error() instead of setting is_fatal_error (cleanup)
- Set fatal_error if max_thead_mem_used is signaled.
(Same logic we use for other places where we are out of resources)
1. use Regexp_processor_pcre::set_recursion_limit() to set the
recursion limit depending on the current available stack size
2. make pcre stack frame to be estimated no less than 500 bytes.
sometimes pcre estimates it too low, even though the manual
says 500+16 bytes (it was estimated only 188 for me, actual
frame size was 512).
3. do it for embedded too
and
MDEV-13011 Server crashes in THD::handle_condition or Assertion `! is_set() || m_can_overwrite_status' fails upon attempt to connect with max_session_mem_used = 8192
errors when a connection is killed in the
* TABLE_SHARE::init_from_sql_statement_string()
* THD::init()
also, safety-wise, don't check max_mem_used on free() and when some error
was already issued.
Do not silence uncertain cases, or fix any bugs.
The only functional change should be that ha_federated::extra()
is not calling DBUG_PRINT to report an unhandled case for

- Backup will load encryption plugins outside of mysqld. Thus, do not
force loading MyISAM plugin in plugin_load.
- init_signals() will be used in backup, make it global, not static.
because mysql->net.thd was reset to NULL in mysql_real_connect()
and thd_increment_bytes_received() didn't do anything.
Fix:
* set mysql->net.thd to current_thd instread.
* remove the test for non-null THD from a very often used
function thd_increment_bytes_received().
Also, implement MDEV-11027 a little differently from 5.5 and 10.0:
recv_apply_hashed_log_recs(): Change the return type back to void
(DB_SUCCESS was always returned).
Report progress also via systemd using sd_notifyf().
Applied lost in a merge revision 7f38a07:
MDEV-10043 - main.events_restart fails sporadically in buildbot (crashes upon
shutdown)
There was race condition between shutdown thread and event worker threads.
Shutdown thread waits for thread_count to become 0 in close_connections(). It
may happen so that event worker thread was started but didn't increment
thread_count by this time. In this case shutdown thread may miss wait for this
working thread and continue deinitialization. Worker thread in turn may continue
execution and crash on deinitialized data.
Fixed by incrementing thread_count before thread is actually created like it is
done for connection threads.
Also let event scheduler not to inc/dec running threads counter for symmetry
with other "service" threads.
Protection added to reopen_file() and new_file_impl().
Without this we could get an assert in fn_format() as name == 0,
because the file was closed and name reset, atthe same time
new_file_impl() was called.
The reason for this is that stop slave takes LOCK_active_mi over the
whole operation while some slave operations will also need LOCK_active_mi
which causes deadlocks.
Fixed by introducing object counting for Master_info and not taking
LOCK_active_mi over stop slave or even stop_all_slaves()
Another benefit of this approach is that it allows:
- Multiple threads can run SHOW SLAVE STATUS at the same time
- START/STOP/RESET/SLAVE STATUS on a slave will not block other slaves
- Simpler interface for handling get_master_info()
- Added some missing unlock of 'log_lock' in error condtions
- Moved rpl_parallel_inactivate_pool(&global_rpl_thread_pool) to end
of stop_slave() to not have to use LOCK_active_mi inside
terminate_slave_threads()
- Changed argument for remove_master_info() to Master_info, as we always
have this available
- Fixed core dump when doing FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK and parallel
replication. Problem was that waiting for pause_for_ftwrl was not done
when deleting rpt->current_owner after a force_abort.
* Remove duplicate lines from tests
* Use thd instead of current_thd
* Remove extra wsrep_binlog_format_names
* Correctly merge union patch from 5.5 wrt duplicate rows.
* Correctly merge SELinux changes into 10.1
