When updating a table with virtual BLOB columns, the following might
happen:
- an old record is read from the table, it has no virtual blob values
- update_virtual_fields() is run, vcol blob gets its value into the
record. But only a pointer to the value is in the table->record[0],
the value is in Field_blob::value String (but it doesn't have to be!
it can be in the record, if the column is just a copy of another
columns: ... b VARCHAR, c BLOB AS (b) ...)
- store_record(table,record[1]), old record now is in record[1]
- fill_record() prepares new values in record[0], vcol blob is updated,
new value replaces the old one in the Field_blob::value
- now both record[1] and record[0] have a pointer that points to the
*new* vcol blob value. Or record[1] has a pointer to nowhere if
Field_blob::value had to realloc.
To fix this I have introduced a new String object 'read_value' in
Field_blob. When updating virtual columns when a row has been read,
the allocated value is stored in 'read_value' instead of 'value'. The
allocated blobs for the new row is stored in 'value' as before.
I also made, as a safety precaution, the insert delayed handling of
blobs more general by using value to store strings instead of the
record. This ensures that virtual functions on delayed insert should
work in as in the case of normal insert.
Triggers are now properly updating the read, write and vcol maps for used
fields. This means that we don't need VCOL_UPDATE_FOR_READ_WRITE anymore
and there is no need for any other special handling of triggers in
update_virtual_fields().
To be able to test how many times virtual fields are invoked, I also
relaxed rules that one can use local (@) variables in DEFAULT and non
persistent virtual field expressions.
* don't issue an error for ER_KEY_BASED_ON_GENERATED_VIRTUAL_COLUMN
* support keyread on vcols
* callback into the server to compute vcol values from mi_check/mi_repair
* DMLs just work. Automatically.
- Used same fix as for MyISAM: High level collation byte stored in unused
bit_end position.
- Moved language from header to base_info
- Removed unused bit_end part in HA_KEY_SEG
MDEV-10134 Add full support for DEFAULT
- Added support for using tables with MySQL 5.7 virtual fields,
including MySQL 5.7 syntax
- Better error messages also for old cases
- CREATE ... SELECT now also updates timestamp columns
- Blob can now have default values
- Added new system variable "check_constraint_checks", to turn of
CHECK constraint checking if needed.
- Removed some engine independent tests in suite vcol to only test myisam
- Moved some tests from 'include' to 't'. Should some day be done for all tests.
- FRM version increased to 11 if one uses virtual fields or constraints
- Changed to use a bitmap to check if a field has got a value, instead of
setting HAS_EXPLICIT_VALUE bit in field flags
- Expressions can now be up to 65K in total
- Ensure we are not refering to uninitialized fields when handling virtual fields or defaults
- Changed check_vcol_func_processor() to return a bitmap of used types
- Had to change some functions that calculated cached value in fix_fields to do
this in val() or getdate() instead.
- store_now_in_TIME() now takes a THD argument
- fill_record() now updates default values
- Add a lookahead for NOT NULL, to be able to handle DEFAULT 1+1 NOT NULL
- Automatically generate a name for constraints that doesn't have a name
- Added support for ALTER TABLE DROP CONSTRAINT
- Ensure that partition functions register virtual fields used. This fixes
some bugs when using virtual fields in a partitioning function
Fixed by adding HA_ERR_INFO as a informational warning to by used by MyISAM
This is used to inform when we create a backup copy of the data file.
Also improved informational messages when creating backup copies of data and index files
The following left in semi-improved state to keep patch size reasonable:
- Field operator new: left thd_alloc(current_thd)
- Sql_alloc operator new: left thd_alloc(thd_get_current_thd())
- Item_args constructors: left thd_alloc(thd)
- Item_func_interval::fix_length_and_dec(): no THD arg, have to call current_thd
- Item_func_dyncol_exists::val_int(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_str(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_int(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_real(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_decimal(): same
- Item_singlerow_subselect::fix_length_and_dec(): same
Issue was two fold (both in MyISAM and Aria)
- optimize and repair failed if there was an old .TMM file around. As optimized and repair are protected against multiple execution, I decided to change so that we just truncate the file if it exists.
- I had missed to check for error condition if creation of the temporary index file failed. This caused the strange behaviour that it looked as if optimized would have worked once.
- Changed ER(ER_...) to ER_THD(thd, ER_...) when thd was known or if there was many calls to current_thd in the same function.
- Changed ER(ER_..) to ER_THD_OR_DEFAULT(current_thd, ER...) in some places where current_thd is not necessary defined.
- Removing calls to current_thd when we have access to thd
Part of this is optimization (not calling current_thd when not needed),
but part is bug fixing for error condition when current_thd is not defined
(For example on startup and end of mysqld)
Notable renames done as otherwise a lot of functions would have to be changed:
- In JOIN structure renamed:
examined_rows -> join_examined_rows
record_count -> join_record_count
- In Field, renamed new_field() to make_new_field()
Other things:
- Added DBUG_ASSERT(thd == tmp_thd) in Item_singlerow_subselect() just to be safe.
- Removed old 'tab' prefix in JOIN_TAB::save_explain_data() and use members directly
- Added 'thd' as argument to a few functions to avoid calling current_thd.
Problem was that repair() did lock and unlock tables, which leaved already locked tables in wrong state

Added option T_NO_LOCKS to disable locking during repair()

The reason for the failure was a bug in an include file on debian that causes 'struct stat'
to have different sized depending on the environment.
This patch fixes so that we always include my_global.h or my_config.h before we include any other files.
Other things:
- Removed #include <my_global.h> in some include files; Better to always do this at the top level to have as few
"always-include-this-file-first' files as possible.
- Removed usage of some include files that where already included by my_global.h or by other files.

Reason for the problem was that the hash of changed files in the key cache was too small (was 128). Fixed by making the hash size larger and changeable.

Auto-generate the allowed list of values for enum/set/flagset options
in --help output. But don't do that when the help text already has them.
Also, remove lists of values from help strings of various options, where
they were simply listed without any additional information.
Description: Using the temporary file vulnerability an
attacker can create a file with arbitrary content at a
location of his choice. This can be used to create the
file /var/lib/mysql/my.cnf, which will be read as a
configuration file by MySQL, because it is located in the
home directory of the mysql user. With this configuration
file, the attacker can specify his own plugin_dir variable,
which then allows him to load arbitrary code via
"INSTALL PLUGIN...".
Analysis: While creating the ".TMD" file we are not checking
if the file is already exits or not in mi_repair() function.
And we are truncating if the ".TMD" file exits and going ahead
This is creating the security breach.
Fix: We need to use O_EXCL flag along with O_RDWR and O_TRUNC
which will make sure if any user creates ".TMD" file, will
fails the repair table with "cannot create ".TMD" file error".
Actually we are initialing "param.tmpfile_createflag" member
with O_RDWR | O_TRUNC | O_EXCL in myisamchk_init(). And we
are modifying it in ha_myisam::repair() to O_RDWR | O_TRUNC.
So, we need to remove the line which is modifying the
"param.tmpfile_createflag".
"Table upgrade required..."
The row format is only different for the case where we have a very old MyISAM table with varchar fields, null fields and created with CHECKSUM=1
The table is usable, except that CHECKSUM TABLE will give a wrong result and CHECK TABLE will warn about this.
I added a test for this to warn when a table needs to be upgraded, but forgot to add a test that this was only relevant for tables with CHECKSUM=1
This is now fixed.

This is port of fix for MySQL BUG#17647863.
revno: 5572
revision-id: jon.hauglid@oracle.com-20131030232243-b0pw98oy72uka2sj
committer: Jon Olav Hauglid <jon.hauglid@oracle.com>
timestamp: Thu 2013-10-31 00:22:43 +0100
message:
Bug#17647863: MYSQL DOES NOT COMPILE ON OSX 10.9 GM
Rename test() macro to MY_TEST() to avoid conflict with libc++.
Cleanups:
* remove unused HA_EXTRA_EXPORT (can be added later if needed, e.g. for Aria)
* clarify the meaning of HA_CAN_EXPORT
* make all engines that support EXPORT to announce it
* reduce code duplication
mysql_upgrade --help now also prints out --default options and variable values.
