- Added testing if connection is killed to shortcut reading of connection data
This will allow us later in 10.2 to do a cleaner shutdown of slaves (less errors in the log)
- Add new status variables: Slaves_connected, Slaves_running and Slave_connections.
- Use MYSQL_SLAVE_NOT_RUN instead of 0 with slave_running.
- Don't print obvious extra warnings to the error log when slave is shut down normally.
The following left in semi-improved state to keep patch size reasonable:
- Field operator new: left thd_alloc(current_thd)
- Sql_alloc operator new: left thd_alloc(thd_get_current_thd())
- Item_args constructors: left thd_alloc(thd)
- Item_func_interval::fix_length_and_dec(): no THD arg, have to call current_thd
- Item_func_dyncol_exists::val_int(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_str(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_int(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_real(): same
- Item_dyncol_get::val_decimal(): same
- Item_singlerow_subselect::fix_length_and_dec(): same
A prerequisite change for:
- MDEV-8093 sql_yacc.yy: add %type create_field for field_spec and column_def
- MDEV-8094 sql_yacc.yy: get rid of the rules "opt_if_not_exists_table_element"
and "opt_if_exists_table_element"
- MDEV-8095 Split Create_field
Problem is that FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK first blocks threads from
starting new commits, then waits for running commits to complete. But
in-order parallel replication needs commits to happen in a particular
order, so this can easily deadlock.
To fix this problem, this patch introduces a way to temporarily pause
the parallel replication worker threads. Before starting FTWRL, we let
all worker threads complete in-progress transactions, and then
wait. Then we proceed to take the global read lock. Once the lock is
obtained, we unpause the worker threads. Now commits are blocked from
starting by the global read lock, so the deadlock will no longer occur.
EXPLAIN INSERT ... SELECT tried to use SELECT's execution path. This
caused a collection of problems:
- SELECT_DESCRIBE flag was not put into select_lex->options, which
means it was not in JOIN::select_options either (except for the first
member of the UNION).
- This caused UNION members to be executed. They would attempt to write
join output rows to the output.
- (Actual cause of the crash) second join sibling would call
result->send_eof() when finished execution. Then,
Explain_query::print_explain would attempt to write to query output
again, and cause an assertion due to non-empty query output.
[EXPLAIN] INSERT .. SELECT creates a select_insert object.
select_insert calls handler->start_bulk_insert() during
initialization.
For MyISAM/Aria this requires that a matching call to
handler->end_bulk_insert() call is made.
Regular INSERT .. SELECT accomplishes this by calling either
select_result->send_eof() or select_result->abort_result_set().
EXPLAIN INSERT ... SELECT didn't call either, which resulted in
improper de-initializaiton of handler object. Make it call
abort_result_set(), which invokes handler->end_bulk_insert().
Before this, FLUSH TABLES and FLUSH TABLES t1 (REFRESH_TABLES hereafter) were executed locally,
which also had implications for GTID. MySQL async replication does
replicate FLUSH TABLES.
Hence, this commit
a) Adds REFRESH_TABLES to TOI.
b) Skips LOCK-based REFRESH_TABLES from TOI, ie. FLUSH TABLES WITH READ
LOCK and FLUSH TABLES FOR EXPORT.
c) Executes them after reload_acl_and_cache. This is done since
reload_acl_and_cache checks for thd->locked_tables_mode and does upgrade
of MDL locks accordingly. A failure here means REFRESH_TABLES cannot
run.
i) This is also important since LOCK TABLES is not replicated in
galera.
d) Test galera_flush has been modified for
i) wsrep_replicate_myisam SESSION variable.
ii) Testing REFRESH_TABLES.
iii) Testing REFRESH_TABLES + LOCK TABLES.
e) Use different WSREP_TO_ISOLATION_BEGIN for global FLUSH TABLES and FLUSH TABLES <table,>.

* Reset THD's PS members before returning when node is

* Skip TO replication of COM_STMT_PREPAREs for MyISAM

- Part 3: Adding mem_root to push_back() and push_front()
Other things:
- Added THD as an argument to some partition functions.
- Added memory overflow checking for XML tag's in read_xml()
- Added mem_root to all calls to new Item
- Added private method operator new(size_t size) to Item to ensure that
we always use a mem_root when creating an item.
This saves use once call to current_thd per Item creation
Added mandatory thd parameter to Item (and all derivative classes) constructor.
Added thd parameter to all routines that may create items.
Also removed "current_thd" from Item::Item. This reduced number of
pthread_getspecific() calls from 290 to 177 per OLTP RO transaction.
In galera cluster, when myisam replication is enabled
(wsrep_replicate_myisam=ON), DML statements are replicated
in open_tables(). However, in case of prepared statements,
for an INSERT, open_tables() gets invoked twice. Once for
COM_STMT_PREPARE (to validate and prepare INSERT) and later
for COM_STMT_EXECUTE. As a result, the command gets replicated
twice. Same happens for REPLACE, UPDATE and DELETE commands.
Fixed by adding a check to not replicate during 'prepare'
phase. Also changed the order of conditions to make it more
efficient. Lastly, in order to support wsrep_dirty_reads, made
changes to allow COM_STMT_XXX commands to continue past initial
check even when wsrep is not ready.
RENAME TABLE, unlike other DDLs, was getting replicated before
the access check was performed. As a result, the command could
get get replicated and thus executed on other nodes, even if it
fails on the originating node due to permission issues. Fixed by
moving the logic to check user privileges before replicating the
command.

DATABASE WHEN USING TABLE ALIASES
Issue:
-----
When using table aliases for deleting, MySQL checks
privileges against the current database and not the
privileges on the actual table or database the table
resides.
SOLUTION:
---------
While checking privileges for multi-deletes,
correspondent_table should be used since it points to the
correct table and database.
Problem :
---------
The specific issue reported in this bug is with range/list column
value that is allocated and initialized by evaluating partition
expression(item tree) during execution. After evaluation the range
list value is marked fixed [part_column_list_val]. During next
execution, we don't re-evaluate the expression and use the old value
since it is marked fixed.
Solution :
----------
One way to solve the issue is to mark all column values as not fixed
during clone so that the expression is always re-evaluated once we
attempt partition_info::fix_column_value_functions() after cloning
the part_info object during execution of DDL on partitioned table.

- Changed ER(ER_...) to ER_THD(thd, ER_...) when thd was known or if there was many calls to current_thd in the same function.
- Changed ER(ER_..) to ER_THD_OR_DEFAULT(current_thd, ER...) in some places where current_thd is not necessary defined.
- Removing calls to current_thd when we have access to thd
Part of this is optimization (not calling current_thd when not needed),
but part is bug fixing for error condition when current_thd is not defined
(For example on startup and end of mysqld)
Notable renames done as otherwise a lot of functions would have to be changed:
- In JOIN structure renamed:
examined_rows -> join_examined_rows
record_count -> join_record_count
- In Field, renamed new_field() to make_new_field()
Other things:
- Added DBUG_ASSERT(thd == tmp_thd) in Item_singlerow_subselect() just to be safe.
- Removed old 'tab' prefix in JOIN_TAB::save_explain_data() and use members directly
- Added 'thd' as argument to a few functions to avoid calling current_thd.
Pretend that CREATE TABLE and CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE are
two different commands internally. The user doesn't need
to know that they both are SQLCOM_CREATE_TABLE.
Same for DROP [TEMPORARY] TABLE
Initialize abs_timeout when it is about to be used. This saves one my_hrtime()
call on hot path (when we acquire MDL lock without waiting).
When filling I_S.PROCESSLIST use THD::start_utime/THD::utime_after_query instead
of THD::start_time. This allows us to save 2 clock_gettime() calls.
Overhead change:
__clock_gettime 0.13% -> 0.11% (122 -> 76 calls per OLTP RO transaction)
my_interval_timer 0.07% -> 0.06%
my_hrtime 0.04% -> 0.01%
Added THD argument to select_result and all derivative classes.
This reduces number of pthread_getspecific calls from 796 to 776 per OLTP RO
transaction.
sql_alloc() has additional costs compared to direct mem_root allocation:
- function call: it is defined in a separate translation unit and can't be
inlined
- it needs to call pthread_getspecific() to get THD::mem_root
It is called dozens of times implicitely at least by:
- List<>::push_back()
- List<>::push_front()
- new (for Sql_alloc derived classes)
- sql_memdup()
Replaced lots of implicit sql_alloc() calls with direct mem_root allocation,
passing through THD pointer whenever it is needed.
Number of sql_alloc() calls reduced 345 -> 41 per OLTP RO transaction.
pthread_getspecific() overhead dropped 0.76 -> 0.59
sql_alloc() overhed dropped 0.25 -> 0.06
1. factored XID-related functions to a separate wsrep_xid.cc unit.
2. refactored them to take refrences instead of pointers where appropriate
3. implemented wsrep_get/set_SE_position to take wsrep_uuid_t and wsrep_seqno_t instead of XID
4. call wsrep_set_SE_position() in wsrep_sst_received() to reinitialize SE checkpoint after SST was received, avoid assert() in setting code by first checking current position.

1. Do not use NULL `info' field in processlist to select the thread of
interest. This can fail if the read of processlist ends up happening after
REAP succeeds, but before the `info' field is reset. Instead, select on the
CONNECTION_ID(), making sure we still scan the whole list to trigger the same
code as in the original test case.
2. Wait for the query to really complete before reading it in the
processlist. When REAP returns, it only means that ack has been sent to
client, the reset of query stage happens a bit later in the code.

message:
BUG#13627921 - MISSING FLAGS IN SQL_COMMAND_FLAGS MAY LEAD TO REPLICATION PROBLEMS
Flags in sql_command_flags[command] are not correctly set for the following
commands:
. SQLCOM_SET_OPTION is missing CF_CAN_GENERATE_ROW_EVENTS;
. SQLCOM_BINLOG_BASE64_EVENT is missing CF_CAN_GENERATE_ROW_EVENTS;
. SQLCOM_REVOKE_ALL is missing CF_CHANGES_DATA;
. SQLCOM_CREATE_FUNCTION is missing CF_AUTO_COMMIT_TRANS;
This may lead to a wrong sequence of events in the binary log. To fix
the problem, we correctly set the flags in sql_command_flags[command].
The reason for the failure was a bug in an include file on debian that causes 'struct stat'
to have different sized depending on the environment.
This patch fixes so that we always include my_global.h or my_config.h before we include any other files.
Other things:
- Removed #include <my_global.h> in some include files; Better to always do this at the top level to have as few
"always-include-this-file-first' files as possible.
- Removed usage of some include files that where already included by my_global.h or by other files.

CHECK.
Analysis:
----------
Issue here is, while creating or altering the InnoDB table,
if the foreign key defined on the table references a parent
table on which the user has no access privileges then the
table is created without reporting any error.
Currently the privilege level REFERENCES_ACL is unused
and is not used for access evaluation while creating the
table with a foreign key constraint or adding the foreign
key constraint to a table. But when no privileges are granted
to user then also access evaluation on parent table is ignored.
Fix:
---------
For DMLs, irrelevant of the fact, support does not want any
changes to avoid permission checks on every operation.
So, as a fix, added a function "check_fk_parent_table_access"
to check whether any of the SELECT_ACL, INSERT_ACL, UDPATE_ACL,
DELETE_ACL or REFERENCE_ACL privileges are granted for user
at table level. If none of them is granted then error is reported.
This function is called during the table creation and alter
operation.

Adapt default_tmp_storage_engine implementation from mysql-5.6
New feature (as compared to 5.6), default_tmp_storage_engine=NULL
means that temporary tables will use default_storage_engine value.
This makes the behavior backward compatible.

message:
Bug#11756966 - 48958: STORED PROCEDURES CAN BE LEVERAGED TO BYPASS
DATABASE SECURITY
The problem was that CREATE PROCEDURE/FUCTION could be used to
check the existence of databases for which the user had no
privileges and therefore should not be allowed to see.
The reason was that existence of a given database was checked
before privileges. So trying to create a stored routine in
a non-existent database would give a different error than trying
to create a stored routine in a restricted database.
This patch fixes the problem by changing the order of the checks
for CREATE PROCEDURE/FUNCTION so that privileges are checked first.
This means that trying to create a stored routine in a
non-existent database and in a restricted database both will
give ER_DBACCESS_DENIED_ERROR error.
Test case added to grant.test.
- First code, "EXPLAIN FORMAT=JSON stmt" and "ANALYZE FORMAT=JSON stmt"
work for basic queries. Complex constructs (e.g subqueries, etc) not
yet supported.
- No test infrastructure yet
MDEV-406: ANALYZE $stmt
- Ported the old patch to new explain code
- New SQL syntax (ANALYZE $stmt)
- ANALYZE UPDATE/DELETE is now supported (because EXPLAIN UPDATE/DELETE is supported)
- Basic counters are calculated for basic kinds of queries
(still need to see what happens with join buffer, ORDER BY...LIMIT queries, etc)
The previous patch for this bug was unfortunately completely wrong.
The purpose of cached_charset is to remember which character set we
have installed currently in the THD, so that in the common case where
charset does not change between queries, we do not need to update it
in the THD. Thus, it is important that the cached_charset field is
tightly coupled to the THD for which it handles caching.
Thus the right place to put cached_charset seems to be in the THD.
This patch introduces a field THD:system_thread_info where such info
in general can be placed without further inflating the THD with unused
data for other threads (THD is already far too big as it is). It then
moves the cached_charset into this slot for the SQL driver thread and
for the parallel replication worker threads.
The THD::rpl_filter field is also moved inside system_thread_info, to
keep the size of THD unchanged. Moving further fields in to reduce the
size of THD is a separate task, filed as MDEV-6164.

Bug #3329 Incomplete lower_case_table_names=2 implementation
The problem was that check_db_name() converted database names to lower case also in case of lower_case_table_names=2.
Fixed by removing the conversion in check_db_name for lower_case_table_names = 2 and instead converting db name to
lower case at same places as table names are converted.
Fixed bug that SHOW CREATE DATABASE FOO showed information for database 'foo'.
I also removed some checks of lower_case_table_names when it was enough to use table_alias_charset.

message:
Bug#17647863: MYSQL DOES NOT COMPILE ON OSX 10.9 GM
Rename test() macro to MY_TEST() to avoid conflict with libc++.
- CREATE TABLE is by default executed on the slave as CREATE OR REPLACE
- DROP TABLE is by default executed on the slave as DROP TABLE IF NOT EXISTS
This means that a slave will by default continue even if we try to create
a table that existed on the slave (the table will be deleted and re-created) or
if we try to drop a table that didn't exist on the slave.
This should be safe as instead of having the slave stop because of an inconsistency between
master and slave, it will fix the inconsistency.
Those that would prefer to get a stopped slave instead for the above cases can set slave_ddl_exec_mode to STRICT.
- Ensure that a CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE which dropped a table is replicated
- DROP TABLE that generated an error on master is handled as an identical DROP TABLE on the slave (IF NOT EXISTS is not added in this case)
- Added slave_ddl_exec_mode variable to decide how DDL's are replicated
New logic for handling BEGIN GTID ... COMMIT from the binary log:
- When we find a BEGIN GTID, we start a transaction and set OPTION_GTID_BEGIN
- When we find COMMIT, we reset OPTION_GTID_BEGIN and execute the normal COMMIT code.
- While OPTION_GTID_BEGIN is set:
- We don't generate implict commits before or after statements
- All tables are regarded as transactional tables in the binary log (to ensure things are executed exactly as on the master)
- We reset OPTION_GTID_BEGIN also on rollback
This will help ensuring that we don't get any sporadic commits (and thus new GTID's) on the slave and will help keep the GTID's between master and slave in sync.

* clarify the meaning of HA_CAN_EXPORT
* make all engines that support EXPORT to announce it
* reduce code duplication
Syntax. Server support. Test cases.
InnoDB bugfixes:
* don't mess around with system sprintf's, always use my_error() for errors.
* don't use InnoDB internal error codes where OS error codes are expected.
* don't say "file not found", when it was.

sql/sql_table.h:
Updated prototypes
Using CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE is be identical to
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS table_name;
CREATE TABLE ...;
Except that:
* CREATE OR REPLACE is be atomic (now one can create the same table between drop and create).
* Temporary tables will not shadow the table name for the DROP as the CREATE TABLE tells us already if we are using a temporary table or not.
* If the table was locked with LOCK TABLES, the new table will be locked with the same lock after it's created.
Implementation details:
- We don't anymore open the to-be-created table during CREATE TABLE, which the original code did.
- There is no need to open a table we are planning to create. It's enough to check if the table exists or not.
- Removed some of duplicated code for CREATE IF NOT EXISTS.
- Give an error when using CREATE OR REPLACE with IF NOT EXISTS (conflicting options).
- As a side effect of the code changes, we don't anymore have to internally re-prepare prepared statements with CREATE TABLE if the table exists.
- Made one code path for all testing if log table are in use.
- Better error message if one tries to create/drop/alter a log table in use
- Added back disabled rpl_row_create_table test as it now seams to work and includes a lot of interesting tests.
- Added HA_LEX_CREATE_REPLACE to mark if we are using CREATE OR REPLACE
- Aligned CREATE OR REPLACE parsing code in sql_yacc.yy for TABLE and VIEW
- Changed interface for drop_temporary_table() to make it more reusable
- Changed Locked_tables_list::init_locked_tables() to work on the table object instead of the table list object. Before this it used a mix of both, which was not good.
- Locked_tables_list::unlock_locked_tables(THD *thd) now requires a valid thd argument. Old usage of calling this with 0 i changed to instead call Locked_tables_list::reset()
- Added functions Locked_tables_list:restore_lock() and Locked_tables_list::add_back_last_deleted_lock() to be able to easily add back a locked table to the lock list.
- Added restart_trans_for_tables() to be able to restart a transaction.
- DROP_ACL is required if one uses CREATE TABLE OR REPLACE.
- Added drop of normal and temporary tables in create_table_imp() if CREATE OR REPLACE was used.
- Added reacquiring of table locks in mysql_create_table() and mysql_create_like_table()

Locked_tables_list::unlock_locked_tables(THD *thd) now requires a valid thd argument. Old usage of calling this with 0 i changed to instead call Locked_tables_list::reset()
Added functions Locked_tables_list:restore_lock() and Locked_tables_list::add_back_last_deleted_lock() to be able to easily add back a locked table to the lock list.
Check for command number instead of open_strategy of CREATE TABLE was used.

Ensure we don't call send_eof() or abort_result_set() twice.
sql/sql_lex.h:
Removed variable that I temporarly added in an earlier changeset
sql/sql_parse.cc:
Removed old test code (marked with QQ)
Ensure that we have open_strategy set as TABLE_LIST::OPEN_STUB in CREATE TABLE
Removed some IF NOT EXISTS code as this is now handled in create_table_table_impl().
Set OPTION_KEEP_LOGS later. This code had to be moved as the test for IF EXISTS has changed place.
DROP_ACL is required if one uses CREATE TABLE OR REPLACE.
sql/sql_partition_admin.cc:
New interface for check_if_log_table()
sql/sql_rename.cc:
New interface for check_if_log_table()
sql/sql_table.cc:
New interface for check_if_log_table()
Moved some code in mysql_rm_table() under a common test.
- Safe as temporary tables doesn't have statistics.
- !is_temporary_table(table) test was moved out from drop_temporary_table() and merged with upper level code.
- Added drop of normal and temporary tables in create_table_imp() if CREATE OR REPLACE was used.
- Added reacquiring of table locks in mysql_create_table() and mysql_create_like_table()
- In mysql_create_like_table(), restore table->open_strategy() if it was changed.
- Re-test if table was a view after opening it.
sql/sql_table.h:
New prototype for mysql_create_table_no_lock()
sql/sql_yacc.yy:
Added syntax for CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE
Reuse new code for CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW
sql/table.h:
Added name for enum type
sql/table_cache.cc:
More DBUG
Main fix was to not cache derivied tables as they may be temporary tables that are deleted before the next query.
This was a bit tricky as Item_field::fix_fields depended on cached_tables to be set to resolve some columns.
mysql-test/r/sp-bugs.result:
Added test case
mysql-test/t/sp-bugs.test:
Added test case
sql/item.cc:
Fixed fix_outer_field to handle case where found field did not have in cached_table
Idea is that if cached_table is not avaliable, use from_field->table->pos_in_table_list instead
sql/records.cc:
Also accept INTERNAL_TMP_TABLE for memmap
sql/sql_base.cc:
More DBUG_PRINT
Fixed that setup_natural_join_row_types() is not run twice.
Original code modified context->first_name_resolution_table also for second executions.
This was wrong as this could give wrong results if some joins had been optimized away between calls.
sql/sql_derived.cc:
Mark derived tables as internal temporary tables (INTERNAL_TMP_TABLE), not as NON_TRANSACTIONAL_TMP_TABLE.
This is more correct as the tables are not visible by the end user.
sql/sql_insert.cc:
Reset pos_in_table_list before calling fix_fields.
One of the consequences of the change of not caching all generated tables in Item_ident is that
pos_in_table_list needs to be correct in calls to fix_fields.
sql/sql_lex.cc:
More DBUG_PRINT
sql/sql_parse.cc:
Don't cache derivied tables as they may be temporary tables that are deleted before the next query
sql/sql_select.cc:
Reset table_vector. This was required as some code checked the vector to see if temporary tables had already been created.
sql/table.cc:
Mark tables with field translations as cacheable (as these will not disapper between stmt executions.
This is a backport of the patch of bug#11765785. Commit message
by Prabakaran Thirumalai from bug#11765785 is reproduced below:
Description:
------------
Global Query ID (global_query_id ) is not incremented for PING and
statistics command. These two query types are filtered before
incrementing the global query id. This causes race condition and
results in duplicate query id for different queries originating from
different connections.
Analysis:
---------
sqlparse.cc::dispath_command() is the only place in code which sets
thd->query_ id to global_query_id and then increments it based on the
query type. In all other places it is incremented first and then
assigned to thd->query_id.
This is done such that global_query_id is not incremented for PING
and statistics commands in dispatch_command() function.
Fix:
----
As per suggestion from Serg, "There is no reason to skip query_id for
the PING and STATISTICS command.", removing the check which filters
PING and statistics commands.
Instead of using get_query_id() and next_query_id() which can still
cause race condition if context switch happens soon after executing
get_query_id(), changing the code to use next_query_id() instead of
get_query_id() as it is done in other parts of code which deals with
global_query_id.
Removed get_query_id() function and forced next_query_id() caller
to use the return value by specifying warn_unused_result attribute.

Analysis: In SST Galera directly calls parser using current client character
set. Similarly in BF Galera uses client character set to apply. However,
there are character sets that are not currently supported by the parser.
Fix: If currenct client character set is one of those that is not supported
by the parser, temporally set character set to latin1 before we enter
parser and restore it after we have parsed.
This is now otherwise on level wsrep-25.9, but storage/innobase has not been fully merged
wsrep-5.5 is not good source for that, so we probably have to cherry pick innodb changes from wsrep-5.6
